Jared is who came over and helped us and explained a bit about how they care for their plants and what services they offer. And even took down my number in the case he hears about how to get that plant. Told us they hold events there, so I'll have to look into it! I did really like how they had a dedicated room for indoor plants, not alot of places have that. I ended up getting a peace lily for $10 and shes still looking great 2 weeks later. We were also given a jug of their moon juice which we've just started using for most of our plants, excited to see if it does really help out. I wasnt quite sure if theyd be OK with my dog being brought into the indoor plant area or the office area where you go to pay but they held the door open for her and gave her her space. So it set a really good impression. This place is definitely where I'd go if I had my own property and want working with a blank/empty space. Even though the lady remembered her, she would not return the items. We searched our house for the receipt and found it a few days later. When my wife went back to the store the next day with the receipt, the owner would still not accept the refund this time using the excuse that she was a few days past the return window which was never mentioned to us or even noted on in the receipt. It wasn't even 7 days from when my wife bought the items and returned with the receipt. Everything that we tried to return was never opened or used and they also charge for bags (which is how my wife originally lost the receipt because she had to put all the items in a Target bag). Worst store and customer service I've experienced in a long time. There are a lot of other retailers who sells the same items (probably cheaper as well) and they will act more professional and actually care about customer service. No surprise that nobody has ever written a review or searched for this retailer on Yelp given our experience. This location will be closed within a few months. With all the competition these days and online shopping, go buy these items somewhere else and thank me later because it is not OK to be treated poorly when you are spending your hard earned money to keep someone else in business. STAY AWAY unless you like being treated very poorly!

Today, though, I was introduced to plants and shrubs at TGU that are just as native or unique and that I had never seen in Houston before. Avery was impossibly patient, thorough, and easy to get on with as he helped me pick out good low-maintenance options for my hodge-podge cottage-style garden. Though The Ground Up is set up mostly for plant sales to landscapers and professionals, they also sell to individuals at retail prices (only on Saturdays I believe). Sasha, when I checked out, was very sweet, funny, and very charming. I've been to their Richmond location and can't speak very highly of it, but this Brittmoore Rd TGU was brilliant.

I'm a frequent Pottery Barn customer and have a Pottery Barn credit card. I purchased an item at the Highland Village location last week and needed to make a return. The item still had the tags attached, so I stopped by the Town & Country store to return it. The associate assisting me appeared to be new and went to get another employee. The second employee immediately asked for my receipt. I explained that I didn't have it but that my purchase should be easily accessible through my Pottery Barn account and credit card. She responded by telling me she could not help me without a receipt. I then asked if Angela, the store manager, was available because I had never experienced an issue making a return before. I was told she was conducting an interview. Even after explaining that I was a regular customer with an account and credit card, the employee continued insisting that a return could not be processed. Only after further discussion did she ask whether I had an email address associated with my account. I provided it, and within moments she was able to locate the purchase and process the return--exactly as I had originally explained could be done. What disappointed me wasn't the return itself--it was the attitude. The interaction felt rude, dismissive, and unnecessarily argumentative from the start. A simple, courteous approach would have resolved the situation in less than a minute. Customer service isn't just about processing transactions. It's about how customers are treated. Whether someone has a receipt or not, there are respectful ways to communicate and assist. As a loyal customer, I expect to be treated with professionalism and courtesy. Thankfully, the return was ultimately completed, but the experience left me wondering why something so simple had to become so unpleasant. Because of how I was treated, I will not be returning to the Town & Country location. I will continue shopping at Pottery Barn, but I will take my business to other stores where customer service is a priority.
