DELICIOUS. We started our New Year's Eve celebration with an appetizer (Jalapeño Poppers with bacon and cream cheese) from Robert's. The first thing I noticed was the thick pieces of bacon wrapped around the jalapeño. (We baked them for 10-15 minutes to really cook the bacon. Then broiled them for 5 minutes.) Each bite was spicy but not overpowering. The bacon added smoke to the flavor and the cream cheese calmed down the spice and brought in a creamy flavor. We should have bought more. read more

If you are find yourself going out for a good porterhouse, you'll save some bucks and have a higher quality, perfectly marbled, and thicker cut here at Roberts'. I was first introduced to Roberts' through their beef jerky, and I've been hooked on them ever since. Jerky, beef sticks, chops, porterhouse, bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers, pickled herring, every blend of brat you could imagine (beer, cranberry and cheddar, potato, chicken and spinach, etc.), the infamous Al Capone roast (boneless pork loin and beef tenderloin rolled with fresh italian sausage, pepperoni, genoa salami, hard salami, mozzarella cheese, provolone cheese and italian seasonings), and my absolute favorite, the Kinnickinnic whiskey beef skewers. This is just a small portion of all the what seems like endless options. Looking to get a loin cut into cubes for kebabs, make a special order for your next bbq, or anything else? These are your guys. Besides meat, they also carry fresh cheese curds, cheese spreads, fresh baked breads, spices, sauces, and much more, even bones and pig ears for your dog. The only negative I have to give Roberts' is their hours. I rarely have a week day where I can make it there before they close at 6pm. Thankfully they have weekend hours. Absolutely horrible I went there twice when you first walk in they have a wall freezer that is just packed and loaded with freezer burnt frozen meats crystals and brown spots inside of the packaging on everything I tried to go to the fresh meats but when I got home I bought the chicken on a stick it was slimy I also bought a summer sausage which tasted extremely old everything I bought from there which I spent a lot of money had to be cooked immediately because the next day it was bad this is going to be the worst experience in butcher shop I've ever been to in my whole entire life it should be closed read more

I have been wanting to get over here for a long time but with the outrageous number bookmarks/time/territory it's a slow process knocking them off the list. Since I was having lunch down the street today would be the day. When I walked in I smelled smoke, the international sigh that they make their own products. The place is small but the the cases were filled with so many good looking items so I had choose wisely for my first visit. The guys working the store were super friendly and patient with me and my questions. I asked if they make all the sausage etc and they do I'm told. They are doing some interesting things with fresh meat here and the most creative/outrages piece of meat that I have ever scene, the Al Capone roast, look at my picture and read the label of what's in it. I grabbed the hot meat stick and a jalapeño/cheddar along with KINNICKINNIC Whiskey Coulotte Skewers. The jalapeño cheddar snack stick was the better of the sticks but the hot was hotter. While checking out I told the guy that I have been trying to get over here for a while, he says this is your first time, walks to the cooler and gives me a package of the ribs on a stick at no charge and says you have to try this and you will be back for them. He also informed me that if I signed up for the birthday promotion I would get one free steak on my birthday, hell why not because it's a nice touch. The Al Capone roast was very interesting and tasty, all the layers of flavors and textures from all the meats mixed well with the the melty cheese giving it a creaminess. Overall I liked meeting the guys and the originality of their products because I get to try some new food items, I'm definitely going to stop by when I get the carnitas down the street. read more

For meat lover. We come here 4-6 times a year. I don't know why we don't come here more. A real butcher shop. My Hungarian grandfather would live this place. Quality cuts of meat. We usually get sausages. I love that they are packed in packages of three so that you can get a variety of sausages. Polish, to 4-5 varieties of brats (Jamaican), Italians (Al Capone) and Hungarian all with variety and some hot ones. And the sausages are big. Bigger than store bought brats for example. We usually come here when we have a party and cookout. For tailgating come here for the shish kabobs meats (chicken or beef) that is marinated. We then cook it in foil without the sticks. My experience here doesn't read like all of the glowing reviews, and that's too bad as many seem to love this place. We stopped just before noon on a Sunday. When we walked in, the kid behind the counter had his back to us playing on his phone. There were no other customers inside, but he completely ignored us. Okay. I was surprised at how small the butcher counter was, and sad to see that it was half empty. There really was no selection to speak of. There is a refrigerator case with prepacked items but that defeats the whole point of a butcher shop, no? Some of the stuff looked old - there was a roast with gray colored fat on it. Just gross. We left without buying anything and went to Ray's in Greenfield instead. Overall - poor service, poor selection, not especially clean. There's absolutely nothing here to bring me back. First off, the 1 Star review on this place is ridic. I go here on the regular and this is a working man's butcher shop. The owner has grills in front taking care of catering requests. What happens when you grill for a large amount of people? Things get messy. Every time I've gone in here I've been greeted, if not I'm sure the employees are butchering meat or doing something work related. I've had them provide a brisket for me - special order. Everything was cut nicely and they even trimmed off more fat on it when I asked. Their baby back ribs were amazing, using the 3-2-1 method on a big green egg with dizzy dust seasoning was a win at my house. I've gotten their meat sticks and beef jerky, both very good too. I ordered a fresh turkey for a family dinner tomorrow, luckily we open the bird to season overnight. We found our fresh turkey was frozen. Thank god we opened the night before. At 2.85 a pound I was disappointed, my hope is it will taste great. I called and was told it wasn't supposed to be frozen , but they have some cold spots, no other offer to help me. read more

I have no complaints about the meat my review will focus on the customer service. I was patiently waiting my turn to be waited on when an old man walked in with his son. The butcher walks out and just as I'm about to speak to him the old man rudely makes his pitch for a brisket. The butcher was about to speak when I reminded the old man I was here first and he should wait his turn. Now this is where it gets ugly. The butcher gives me an ugly look and continues to wait on the rude old man. Another employee who was at the register comes over to help me after he sees what has happened. The butchers conduct as far as the rude behavior and customer service is the reason for the one star. When you're not the only show in town you better do your best to keep people coming back. Was in the area and needed to get a gift for a coworker. I was like a kid in a candy store only this place is all about meat. Tried all the beef jerky and each one was amazing. I shot my first deer this season and took it to Robert's meats just before Thanksgiving. I finally got it today on 3/16. It took nearly 4 months of multiple calls and I even asked for my deer back, which got me a promise that it would be done in another 2 weeks. Well 60 days after that I got my call on 3/16. I had a great hunting experience and know I will never take deer or buy anything there. It was very disappointing. read more

I regret having to leave this review because like everyone said, the service is excellent and the meat is usually great! I've had meat here numerous times but i just came to realize that there is something terribly wrong with the chicken. This is the 2nd time my husband and I have bought chicken there where we both fell extremely ill shortly after eating it. Not sure if anyone else has had an issue with the chicken but maybe we got unlucky the 2x we did buy it from Robert's. It is very rare these days to find an independent butcher that you can go to for fresh cut meat and deli. This place is where I always go to get my meat. Paul (one of the owners) knows just about everything there is to know about meat. The steaks are always beautiful and nicely marbled. When you first walk in you will notice that this place has no cute frills or decor, just good meat, and for me that is all I need. The second thing that you will notice is the smell of fresh smoked jerkey. If you haven't tried it just ask for a sample, it is delicious. If you ever have any questions on how to best cook your meat they will tell you how. I love this place. read more

Stay away. What I sent them: Paul, I order a LARGE turkey from you early to cook 2 weeks or so before Thanksgiving every year. We have only had one problem before this year, which you worked out for me previously. Not this year. I was told today 11/12/15 that my order was not there. I am cooking this turkey on the 14th and was to brine this turkey tonight. I was told that my order was ready for pickup last Thursday the 5th. This is not the day I ordered. I was very specific even explaining when I would be cooking it, brining it on the pickup date and why I needed it Thursday the 12th. I had my phone in my hand looking at the calender on the phone and adding the pickup date as I ordered it. I was told that they could not find my ticket order. I was told that they just put it back in the freezer yesterday (so apparently you had it sitting and waiting for me unfrozen for 6 days. And obviously you never called to tell me that I had not picked it up (even though it was not the day I ordered it for pickup, it seems like something you would do, and in fact when he was searching for my pickup on the various order pads laying around the place, one of them was sitting in front of the phone...so it looks to me that had this whole situation been legitimate, that would have happened). Although it was not the person I spoke with today, it was a younger guy who took my order at the time...and trust me when I tell you that I was very specific about both the date and when I could pick it up (i.e., do you call me when it is ready? Can I come any time during the day?...etc). To be downright honest with you, I feel like I was LIED to today. None of this seems legitimate at all. No order receipt, no call, the turkey sitting out for 6 days waiting for me...etc. This is completely unacceptable, and I will obviously be ordering my turkeys, buying my briskets, and hanger steaks (amongst other things) elsewhere. I could not be more angry with your business right now, as I hurriedly try to thaw out a store bought turkey as I type this. You should be ashamed of your employees.
