It was our first time here. What a wonderful experience. I told the man working in the meat department it was our first time here and what would he recommend. He welcomed us and thanked us repeatedly for choosing them as he's aware consumers have many places to choose from. He spent a lot of time with us talking about the different varieties and cuts of meat. Gave tips on how to prepare items we bought. Told us all about their "specials". Never felt rushed even though the store was busy. In the bakery area he recommended to get the cinnamon roll and oh my it was the best one I ever had. Bunzels is one of my favorite lunch spots on Fridays. I almost always get the fried cod sandwich. It's a great deal, two meaty pieces of cod and all the toppings you'd like for just over $5 on a fresh hoagie... I usually get cheddar, lettuce tomato, tartar, and creamy coleslaw on mine. As you can see from the picture it's usually enough for two meals. Yes, when you walk in around lunch time that deli counter will be swamped, but I encourage you to grab a number and know that these employees are efficient so you won't be waiting that long. Went to Bunzels to get some beef jerky, which is one of my favorites. I decided to try one of their dinners. I got the shereded pork with mashed potatoes, corn, and a dinner roll. The meal was fantastic. I got several other items which I am very happy with. Anytime I have gone here the customer service has always been phenomenal. It's also a great place to get pig ears and bones for my dog. The place is always clean and everything is easy to find. This place never disappoints. read more

There is so much to Bunzel's and I always assumed a meat market would be too expensive for me to frequent. However, when the quality of the meat is higher, the price is appropriate. And it goes further because there is less waste and fat. The selection is wide and the butchers know their stuff; ask them for recommendations and cooking suggestions and you will not be disappointed. There is more: the bakery has freshly baked goodies, and don't miss the premade dishes to save you time and work. I drive a good distance because I know I am getting great quality for my hard-earned money. Specially cut bones for my dog is a regular chore and butcher Anthony always takes great care of me. Andrew provided outstanding customer service at the Deli, and Bakery Department. The corned beef was tender and lean. It could be cut with a spoon. The lemon square was just like it was made by my Mom. The Meat Department has a big variety of meat and the gentleman behind the counter was friendly as well. Next stop was the Catering Department and encountered another employee. Last encounter was the cashier. Can you imagine another nice employee. Bunzel's is one of those hidden gems that I'm so glad is nearby, but at the same time I'm hoping more people don't catch wind of it because I want to keep all of its goodness to myself. I walked in after driving by. They have a hot food section so I ordered the dinner. They have the best smoked beef ever, it was juicy and flavorful. Their BBQ sauces are good too. I gave it 4 stars because the sides are limited. Mac and cheese was good but potatoes were a bit overcooked. I am here visiting and have never been here before but knew I wanted to try a Brat. I am a massive foodie and love to try foods from areas that are famous for their foods. I had a Brat not expecting anything much different than any other I have had. I took my first bite and WOW, 1st off there was no snap from the hard skin. Then the texture was unbelievable, the flavor was exploding in my mouth. Absolutely surprised from the moment it entered my mouth. SO HAPPY TO HAVE GONE TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! Also had a mozzarella stick that was 5" long and 3 inches around. I bit into it and so fresh. You can taste the little bit of salt and then some butter. This place is OUTSTANDING!!! This was some of the best customer service I've ever had. I came here Christmas weekend for the first time ever and they had parking attendants guiding traffic in and out, over a dozen employees in the meat department flying thru orders. I could go all day talking about the choices of meat and the diversity in their meat selection, but the main thing I want to hit on is their homemade rubs! Just moving from Tennessee a couple months ago, I was really trying to find a good local place to get bbq rub for the meat that I smoke. Not only are their rubs probably the best overall I have had, but the pricing is CRAZY low. This place is the spot! You can smell the smoked sausage as soon as you walk in, so you know it's going to be good. Fresh produce, huge variety of spices, bbq, and hot sauces and then there's an amazing deli! The deli is filled with your typical deli salads and pasta, but the magic happens in the pastry section. 1000% want places like this to thrive, but the actual food we got from the deli didn't cut the mustard. Both Grandma's potato salad and the German variety lacked distinct flavor. The standard brat was dry and uninspired. The special of the day, the cheddarwurst was super dry and overcooked (and not in a delicious char way, but in a too much time on the steam table or maybe microwave way). A possible highlight just for the innovation of it was the Bratzerella, which is a culinary masterpiece. Cook bratwurst, bacon, onion, and cheese as usual, chop them up, mix them together, surround them in a much larger than normal egg roll skin, voila...pro tip: let it cool to almost room temp before you eat it to really let the flavors meld. We did not visit the butcher counter, which looked authentic and tempting, but didn't fit with our itinerary this go around. read more

We went for one of their amazing meat deals. We got meat deal #2 8lbs Ground Chuck 2 lbs Pork Chops 3 lbs Country Style Ribs 2 lb Chuck Roast (boneless) 2 Whole Chickens 2 lbs Beef Stew 6 lb Pork Roast (bone-in) For an unbelievable $99.99, this is all fresh meat, not frozen. But even more amazing is their customer service. The store was packed, but the guys at the meat counter had it covered. We told them that we were going to share it, and wrapped it up and split it up for us. He even wrapped the ground chuck into 8 1 pound packages and cut up the chickens for us. There is also a fresh deli, a frozen foods section, and a small market. We also got 2 pot pies, and some pig ears and dog bones for the pups. The butcher guy even carried our meat boxes up to the register and for us and I'm sure he would have carried it out to the car, had we asked. The cashier greeted us with a big smile and asked if we found everything ok. In this day and age, customer service is everything and while the quality of the meat is top-notch, Bunzels easily gets 5 stars today read more

Okay, I'm sure a lot of other reviews start with the meat deal but COME ON, we have to talk about it. $20 for what ends up being three weeks of meat items for my largely plant-based family. If you're more carnivorous than us it might just be a week, but regardless the price is crazy! The service is always quick and attentive and when we had an issue once that was probably our own fault- some ribs went bad but we had them in the fridge for probably a day longer than we should have- they still offered to replace them for us free of charge. read more

I would give it higher stars but it was really hard to get in. It is always crowded and busy. The meat selection was good with many things you can't find elsewhere. The prices reflected the fact that the meat is all done in house. The meat is as lean as you want. I bought a variety of items from sirloin to sausages. Interesting options on sausages. I thought the prices were a bit higher than some places but reasonable. I bought some home made pies and salads too to a true experience. They were not bad. It is not the biggest store but certainly interesting. Go at a time when it is not crowded say earlier during the week rather than on a weekend. Oooo 5 stars for the sausage and those cured meat sticks you eat cold. Like oh my gosh soooo goood. The jalapeño or the honey sausages are amazing. Like I don't know how much I need to say is that go to this and order some for a cook out and you'll be the favorite at a party or event. It's def a Milwaukee staple.
