Dr. Robertson, I'm writing to express how incredibly unprofessional this entire process has been. After being told by Kristy that you were offering me the position--and being encouraged to "be ready to negotiate" because she knew you were going to offer me the lowest wage on your pay scale--I was surprised and confused when the moment I began discussing compensation, the offer was withdrawn. At no point during either of my interviews did you speak to me about pay, so to claim that it had already been discussed to your hiring manager was inaccurate. And your hiring managers don't have the authority to decide pay? Ha. I rearranged my day, pushed through physical pain, and showed up on very short notice--twice--to demonstrate my interest and professionalism. I was respectful, flexible, and prepared, even though you weren't. To be told I was hired and going over details to start in 3 days, only to have the offer revoked within minutes of a basic compensation conversation, speaks volumes--not just about how candidates are treated, but possibly why you're struggling to retain staff, as was repeatedly mentioned. You also left it wishy-washy on a Friday afternoon, leaving me to wonder the whole weekend if I'm still hired or not, only for you and Kristy to never respond. "People just don't want to work these days." Am I right? As someone with a decade of experience, I know my value--and I also know when I've been treated unfairly. I hope you take this as an opportunity to reflect on how you handle hiring moving forward, although after several disrespectful and unprofessional interactions with you, my hopes aren't high. P.S. Take a look at questions that are legal/illegal to ask during an interview. So glad I rushed in for a second interview, for you to grill me about my personal life, in my leggings and sweater just for you to say to your hiring staff, "I want to see what she looks like when she's not all done up." Sadly i wish the review was done on the clinic in general. The inner workings of this office has a lot to be desired. Surgeries are scheduled only to find out that they have not been approved by the patients insurance. Lack of communication and a feeling of being rushed through the office. The staff is too busy to return phone calls or notify patients of changes in surgery scheduling. The physician assigned to do your surgery should be available to talk and meet with the patient prior to surgery. My suggestion is to get a second opinion if your experience isn't a positive one. From the minute we checked in, you could tell it was a hostile work environment. The receptionist were ignoring each other, or being rude to each other. The bell was going off indicating a doctor needed a tech to join him in a room while three techs just sat in the front office not responding to the bell. The receptionist were looking at each other like, why aren't they going? While we were waiting to be called back, the male tech was yelling at one of the receptionist because he didn't feel like arguing with a patient over the phone about the referral. He was very loud and rude to the receptionists and the patient over the phone. I'm thinking, I should mention something to the doctor about how their staff doesn't seem to get along at all. But when I met him, I realize pretty quickly that it was pointless. He was so abrasive. While examining my daughter he just reaches over and grabs her throat to feel her glands, I'm guessing, without any warning. It shocked her and me. We will not be going back read more

I was referred to Dr. Larry Gambrell for hoarseness and pain when swallowing. He quickly diagnosed me with a paralyzed vocal cord and ordered follow-up testing and treatment - speech therapy, thyroid ultrasound, and a swallow study. He offered no explanation for the cause of the paralysis. The speech therapist explained the mechanics of what was happening, educated me on the intricacies of the vocal cords/voice box and surrounding structures, offered multiple suggestions regarding what could have caused the paralysis, performed the swallow study, and provided exercises to help mitigate my loss of vocalization. She provided me with information and the education I expected from Dr. Gambrell. Thank God for her! The thyroid ultrasound showed nodules, with one meeting parameters for biopsy. During the follow-up with Dr. Gambrell he indicated he didn't see a need for the biopsy because thyroid cancer is very rare, and the nodules grow very slowly, so we'd be able to identify changes during biannual ultrasounds. He offered no treatment, suggested I search the internet for thyroid-friendly diets, and find a voice coach to work with (not a licensed speech therapist). He was dismissive and condescending throughout our interactions. My doctor ordered a thyroid biopsy, which came back negative. She also provided a referral to OHSU for a second opinion. After reviewing my chart and examining me thoroughly, they ordered a CT scan and follow-up. They explained what probably caused the paralysis, my current prognosis, and treatment options. I had a thyroplasty - which Dr. Gambrell never even alluded to - two months ago. My vocal quality and swallowing issues are greatly improved and getting better daily. Thank God I didn't blindly follow Dr. Gambrel's advice to do nothing. Dr. Gambrell was unhelpful, condescending, and dismissive to both my husband and me. It was clear he wasn't interested in me or in taking an active role in my treatment. I've spoken to two other people who have experienced the same. I strongly warn my friends against going to this provider, and now I'm warning you. I don't EVER do Yelp reviews. The treatment I received is such that I'm making an exception. I could not be more pleased with the office, the staff, the doctors, and the service! Our journey first started when I took my then 3 year old son, Jonah, to see his pediatrician. I was a wreck. I was crying because I had not had a full night of sleep in over a year. My sons tonsils had swollen up so badly that they were touching. His snoring increased greatly, and that is when he quit breathing. He stopped breathing for up to 15 seconds every 3rd or 4th breath. I couldn't sleep because I was awake all night listening to him breathe and I was relieved when in the morning, he was still breathing. That sounds morbid, I know. I was losing it. Just talking about it brings me to tears. His pediatrician referred us to a different ENT in Corvallis, but my good friend works at Mid Valley ENT and she suggested I come into the office. She set us up with Dr. Gambrell. I was so nervous. I went in prepared to fight for my son to have his tonsils out. Dr. Gambrell came in and sat and talked with us first and played with my son, making him feel comfortable and happy. When he recommended the tonsils coming out, I instantly burst into tears. I was so relieved! He took the time to really listen to my concerns and explain the process in detail from start to finish. He made sure to let me know that he is always available to answer questions should I have any. Dr. Gambrell has a way of talking calmly that really puts patients at ease and makes them feel calm and comforted. He literally treated my son as though he were his own and he assured me that the nurses at the hospital know his standard of care and will offer no less. I was nervous for surgery, but I saw the end in sight. Surgery day arrived and the staff at the hospital was phenomenal as well. When we had our follow up appointment with the doctor, I couldn't help but give him a huge hug! He gave my son and I both of our lives back. When I started noticing the same changes in my then 4 year old daughter as well, I didn't hesitate to call the office again to get Dr. Gambrell's opinion. She ended up needing the same surgery and I was a little more calm that time around :) We were of course taken care of by the staff, the doctor, and the hospital staff. When my daughter was wheeled out of surgery, a nurse was in the bed with her arms around my daughter, snuggling her and making sure she felt comforted. How amazing is that? When I couldn't be there with her as she was waking up and wheeled out of recovery, she was still given that warmth and love from a complete stranger. The follow up care we received was second to none. If you are looking for an ENT that is highly trained, professional, kind hearted, warm and friendly, and who uses the latest techniques and devotes himself to being a family man as well as being the most trained and up to date doctor on the west coast, you need to call Mid Valley ENT and request Dr. Gambrell, ESPECIALLY if it is regarding your child.
