First let me say that I waited 1.5 hours to see Dr Donovan. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were no apologies for being late and no reasons for it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]Then he walked in and said "what can I do for you today". Clearly he hadn't read the notes that were sent to him by my referring primary care doctor and clearly he hadn't read the questions and answers notes taken by his assistant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He was abrupt and has no bedside manner[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I was referred to him because a recent brain scan indicated a possible fungal infection in my right ethmoid and my tongue was numb and I have no taste. He didn't address my tongue issues even though his office knew about it. Now I have to find another ENT specialist to address my issues. I will never return to his office again and certainly won't recommend Willamette ENT in Salem Oregon. read more

She was rude and seemed to be perturbed that she had to deal with a patient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She shoved a huge needle up my nose to numb it and the liquid from the syringe started draining down my face. I had to ask for some tissues to wipe it off my face and chest. She then shoved the needle 5 more times into my nose which was very painful. She did not wait for the numbing to kick in and immediately started shoving instruments and her fingers up my nose. My eyes were watering from all the pain she inflicted. This place is quite unprofessional, in my experience: they were not transparent with their billing/fees/costs. When calling them on the phone they kept transferring me back and forth to different offices/departments, while everyone on the phone seemed to be confused as to whom I should be speaking to. I had an appointment for one of the doctors and I waited over an hour in the waiting room. Once I was in the patient room I waited much longer. When the doctor finally came to me he rushed through my concerns. On top of this they have the nerve to tell me about their policy and fees for late/missed appointments. My experience at this clinic was pretty terrible. The receptionist and nurse were great. However Dr. Donovan was not. He didn't really seem to care to be there and wasn't engaged at all in my visit. He gave me suggestions for things that I have already done and don't work. His suggestions were for things I wasn't even trying to address. I would go into more detail but don't want to put my private medical issues online. He got side tract with addressing things that will provide little aid in fixing the actual problem I was there for. I am sorry to say that I will not be coming back here again. I was referred to Willamette ENT by my primary care doctor. Contrary to what some reviews say, I fortunately had a pleasant experience with the front office. They were very professional and kind to me. The medical assistant who discussed the visit with me was also very kind and made me feel comfortable. Thanks to this, I looked forward to seeing the doctor as I had high hopes that the doctor would be as pleasant. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Dr. Strand was incredibly rude to me. She was abrupt the moment she walked into the room. She gave no introduction or anything. She just asked me what was going on and had a very cold demeanor about her. Every question that I had was either vaguely answered or not answered at all. She brushed off all of my concerns and seemed in a rush to get out of the room. I left feeling like I had more questions than answers. I am never going to back to this place again. I am taking my business somewhere else where a doctor will actually listen to my concerns. read more

went in for allergy shots after having my throat close up from them and several trips and overnight stay in the hospital Iwas not seen and took several days for them to contact me after several calls just to get allergy meds prescribed after itcwas continuing I was told to see a pulmonologist for my throat which makes no sense as they are an Ent place. All they seemed to say was wait to get more of the shots later with no concern for what the few I got did. Patient rooms are very dirty as well. Im upset with the entire experience, [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was told to go to Salem audiology because the office was booked and couldnt fit me in for my audio test, I was scheduled a week and a half after at Willamette ENT clinic and when I arrived I was told they never recieved my test results[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], ok its not necessarily their fault they didnt send it but [[HIGHLIGHT]]I received several texts from willamette ENT clinic about my upcoming appointment and in that time Im sure someone couldve got ahold of Salem audiology for my test results[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], [[HIGHLIGHT]]when Dr Donovan came in he was very short with me and kept referring to my situation from a scuba diving point of view[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] ( I blew my ear drum out diving a few years before and was referred here by my physician), he suggested I buy a fairly pricy piece of equipment to use before I scuba dive to clear my ear tubes, I havent dove in over 2 years I explained to him my injury occurred during a decent on a plane trip he told me I need to chew gum while on the plane and went back to talking about scuba diving, again I told him again this wasnt the reason for my injury and wanted to know why it is still an issue 2 months after it happened he said it takes time to heal..... I will not refer any one to this office and will be talking to my physician about why he referred me to this clinic, this visit is a very expensive lesson learned. read more

Williamette ENT will bleed you of your hard earned money. Make sure you question charges before they do anything!! I cannot stress this enough! I was duped into scheduling an office visit with Dr. Johnson to get my prescription refilled since I had not been seen in 2020. My office visit lasted 10 minutes and included a quick 30 second look with "The Scope". They billed my insurance $700 for this and I was left with a $510 bill (Providence Health). Yes you read that right! $700 for 10 minutes... The minute they pull out the scope to look in your nose its a $528 charge!!!! Dr Johnson is a great doctor but the practice he is a part lacks transparency and overcharge for their services! read more

I was referred to Dr. John Donovan because of a "spot" that was identified during a swallow study performed at Salem Hospital. I arrived for my appointment, my vitals were taken, the current resident came in asked me about what prompted my visit, and then the doctor from hell came in and after barely acknowledging I was even in the room proceeded to grill me about sleep apnea and whether I had ever had a sleep study done. I am not sure how this line of questioning was relevant to a "spot" on an xray or the 4 year long itching ear issue I had put on my intake paperwork tha I want to discuss. He then proceeded to write me a referral to a one of the most expensive dentist in the city of Salem to have a custom mouth guard made. (Which I am told would cost well over $1000) Now, mind you had already mentioned that I have a mouth guard that I sleep with. Finally, after a lecture about how I should exercise 7 days a week and how many calories make up a pound of fat, he finally decide to run a scope up my nose and down my throat. I was told to a "he" and as he removed the scope he advised me that he didn't see anything and I was fine. This second "procedure" he spent all of 2 MAYBE 3 minutes on and then got up and left. He spent less time talking with me and my concerns that brought me into his office that was even remotely appropriate in my opinion. Dr. Donovan obviously had his own agenda that day and it had very little to do with the actualy reason I had been referred. After posting a review about my experience on their website, a nurse called me to speak about this issues I had. Alice was wonderful and listened attentively. She took my concerns to the Office Administrator John Baird who I am told then went to Dr Donovan and asked if he believed he "addressed my issues adequately". Wait for it....Dr. Donovan naturally responded yes. Wow!!! I will go anywhere else in this state before I will go back to Willamette ENT and "Dr Donovan"!!! Dr. Allen has seen me twice and both times he has been super friendly and very helpful. He takes enough time to listen to the issue and his assistant takes all the notes so that it all comes together well, with coordinated follow up from the office. The lady seemed understanding about my billing issues and assured me I would get a phone call from someone who could help solve the issue. So like 8 years ago I went and had a horrible experience. My ear had ruptured earlier that year, and it kept bugging me. All the doctor did was look in my ear, remove a cat hair, and tell me to never fly again. YES, he actually diagnosed me to never get on an airplane again. WTF. Now earlier this year, I had a weird throat issue that wouldn't go away. THE SAME doctor helped me BUT was way better this time. He knew I didn't have insurance so he didn't charge me for a lot of what he did. Talk about awesome. He saw I didn't have tumors, cancer, etc and just diagnosed something minor, which was good. When you leave, those without insurance have an option to pay half of entire bill up front or full amount later. I chose to pay now and then and it was only like $150! Pretty sweet. read more

NEVER TAKE YOUR TODDLER/CHILD THERE! Dr. Donovan is by far the worse Doctor. He traumatized my two year old daughter. He was very unprofessional, he seem like he was in a rushed, very rude and short. Like he was bothered. My daughter had dry blood in her ear and there were tubes in place. She was in a lot of pain and as well very uncomfortable. The medical assistant pulled my daughters arms all the way back and screaming OWIE, I then ask him shouldn't she be put to sleep if she is being uncooperative? While he was trying to take out the dry blood and his MA said no. My daughter was screaming OWIE while trying to comfort her, MA said they will do it all the time, it's just uncomfortable. (All I kept thinking he's a doctor and he knows) I asked her again if they can put her to sleep to do this, she's is turning red and in pain and crying so bad. He didn't try making her feel comfortable or stop and say ok she isn't letting me. He then pulls out the dry blood and WIPES IT ON MY DAUGHTERS SHIRT. Then shoves the stick right back into my daughters ear and is pulling out my daughters tube as she is screaming OWIE, NO MORE and crying so bad she was passing out, that's when I grabbed her. Worse experience as a mother, my daughter couldn't even catch her breathe. Doctor didn't try and comfort her after he was done, he just left. read more

I was referred to Willamette ENT by my dentist after a reoccurring infection happening that was possibly related to my sinuses. When I arrived I was asked to fill out the regular doctor paperwork allowing the doctor to see me...little did I know this gave him permission to do a procedure called a "diagnostic nasal endoscopy" which was basically a doctor taking a light and shining it up my nose for about 5-10 seconds. Afterwards, he referred me back for more imagery to get a clearer picture of what was happening. I was seen for no more than 15 minutes and got no more answers to my infection. I walked away with a bad feeling in my stomach that I was once again being taken down a road that would lead to yet another giant bill and NO ANSWERS. It was a couple weeks later that I had ZERO REGRETS about not calling back for a follow up because I had been charged $528 for him to look up my nose and tell me that he needs more images done. Also just to be seen was another $257. I am a teacher and have fairly good insurance, but my insurance only minimally helped out and still left me paying $650 out of pocket. When I called to talk to the billing department she made me aware that she gets over a half a dozen similar phone calls a week and consoling me by calling the healthcare system corrupt. I would hate for more innocent patients to fall victim to a clinic that doesn't seek to inform them of their outrageous costs for simple procedures. read more

I'm gonna give this place 3 stars because they did perform my daughters tonsil adenoids removal and there were no complications and she healed well and fast. However her Dr who did her before surgery visits and after had the worst bed side manner ever! He should not be working with children, like ever! He was rude rushy and just plain mean. The wait time there is also outrageous. Every apt we had to wait over 45 min and we're assured both times that they were very sorry and they never run that far behind schedule. Who knows maybe we just picked the worst days to schedule Apts. The nurses are very friendly though, and seem to genuinly care for their patients unlike the dr!. Her final apt was at 11:00 we waited until 12:30 before they had the room they needed available to do children's ear tests. And then had to wait to consult with the Dr and that was another hr + wait by the time we left the office it was almost 3!!!! Having been troubled with environmental allergies for years I finally decided to get tested and receive treatment so my seasonal suffering is diminished. I was so happy that Willamette Ear, Nose, Throat and Facial Plastic Surgery could provide this service. I was referred here by our family PCP due to my son not passing his hearing exam. I wish I would have gone outside of Salem. Apparently they are the only ENTs specialist in Salem. SMH I arrived with my three children at 1:45 to get all the patient paperwork done thinking that by the time my son's 2:30pm appointment came up we would be on schedule. He had to do a hearing test first and then see the Doctor. He was seen by the audiologist at 3pm. She was pleasant at first and then became annoyed when my toddler touched the stack of ear plugs. Trust me I get it but her tone was a bit much when she proceeded to grab the ear plugs and say " ugh, I need to throw all of these away and they are not cheap. It will cost us $50 dollars to replace that stack." I wanted to die with embarrassment and apologized while also scolding my 4yr old. The audiologist did apologize after the exam and told me not to worry about the cost as they can cover it. Then we had to wait for the doctor to review the test. At around 3:40 we get called back to be seen. Vitals were done and family history info. Again, we get asked to wait. Well by 4pm I walked out without seeing the doctor. Aside from the receptionist the staff are not welcoming and the waiting area is extremely cold. I will be searching elsewhere and will pay the out of network fee if I have to. read more
