With Achalasia the motility of the esophagus does not work right and the sphincter is too tight. All the food and liquid comes back up and you can't sleep at night from cough up white foamy stuff. My life force dwindled. I tried homeopathy, acupuncture (with a different doc), and all sorts of energetic healing for a year. With western medicine my choices were surgery or dilatation of the sphincter of the esophagus. In 2010 I was referred to Dr. Zhijiang Chen (CJ) DAOM, L.Ac.. I know that he had 30 or more years of experience ...apparently mostly with Asian clients since his English wasn't too hood; hard for Me to understand. His demeanor was brash, curt. I struggled to Make sure he Knew what my issues were (lower back). I lay face down on a chiropractor's table. He inserted the needles (no pain) and he attached electrical stimulation to the needles. He turned up the juice and asked me to let him know how well I was toleration the electricity. I lay there for about maybe 20 minutes. He came back, pulled the needles out and began "cupping". I couldn't tell if there was a benefit to that. Them massage with an electric vibrator. Time to go. That'll be $X please. And...out. I returned a half dozen times. There was some minor short-term relief of symptoms. Not an unpleasant experience. No magic though. I might try another acupuncturist some time, just to compare.
