Dr. Mells is a rockstar I do not say this lightly. I do not like dentists generally but Dr. Mells is a true professional. She administered shots painlessly. I had not been to the dentist in about 4 years. My last dentist had told me that I would need a bone graft and that terrified the heck out of me so I stopped going. Well, fast forward to now and I realized that I really need to stop putting it off. Dr Mells's office was able to get me in in about a week for a consultation. The doctor looked at my x-rays and said I did not need a bone graft, just the deep cleaning and root planing. Quite literally everyone in this office is kind, compassionate and empathetic. They are patient and understanding and funny. During the route planning, I have to listen to very loud music and sometimes, it may not be the most appropriate lyrics but it gets my mind off of what's going on in my mouth. Dr Mells told me that she heard every single word. Oops! But I promise you, if you are afraid of the dentist, this practice is awesome. You're not sitting forever waiting, they get you back pretty quickly and it's always with a smile and a greeting. I have definitely found my new dentist office! read more

I had a really uncomfortable experience with this office that I feel is important to share. My appointment was canceled the day of, and when I arrived weeks later, the dental hygienist Mark explained--very bluntly --that it was because the dentist had a miscarriage. This was not shared gently or thoughtfully (rather aggressively), and it felt like a deeply personal detail that should not have been disclosed to patients in that way. As someone who has experienced my own fertility traumas, being told this unexpectedly while already anxious about being at the dentist was upsetting and inappropriate. There was no sensitivity or awareness of how that information might affect someone. The hygienist used it as ammunition to show I was being insensitive when that was not the case. What made this worse was that I later called the office to express that I was uncomfortable with how this was handled. Instead of acknowledging my concern, they doubled down and said they had permission to share that information and essentially dismissed my feelings. Regardless of permission, there is a clear lack of professionalism and emotional awareness here. A simple "the doctor had an emergency" would have been more than sufficient. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling disrespected, unheard, uncomfortable, and my husband and I won't be returning to this office. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Mells! She and her staff are professional, knowledgeable, skilled, empathetic, and kind. I have had great experiences with her hygienist, Mark, as well. I only book my cleanings with him. He is a gentle person. I don't enjoy going to the dentist but I my anxiety has lessened after going to Dr. Mells for the last couple of years. The entire staff are great! This office is not in my insurance plan, but they bill my insurance for me, and I get a check within about 15 days of the appointment. We are so happy to be patients of Dr. Mells! After moving to the area, my husband had some very bad experiences with other dentists that really scared us and made us think he needed urgent surgery and had major dental problems. Later, when we went to Dr. Mells' office, we realized that although he does need frequent regular cleanings, he did not need surgery by any means and that the other places he had gone to were just trying to get us to pay more money for unnecessary procedures. Dr. Mells and her staff are extremely professional, reasonable, fair, and kind, and we haven't had any problems at all in the approximately two years we've been patients there. The hygienist, Heather, did an excellent and pain free job of cleaning my teeth. I previously had a bad experience with another in town dentist who recommended unnecessary and expensive work. Dr. Mells confirmed that my teeth were in good condition and that the previous dentist's recommendations were not accurate. I am very happy to have found a skilled and honest dentist. So I'm a big tough guy. But when it comes to my teeth I'm a big baby. Her dad Dr. Michael Lambert was my dentist for many years and I'm glad to say the apple fell right next to the tree. When it comes to getting a new dentist, I'd rather jump off a cliff. I had a pain for about a year and she solved it in no time.
