Great experience as usual. I went it for an oil change and needed to get my transmission checked. Crystal gave me the best and worse cases scenarios. She and her mechanic to the time to show me another issue with the car and to point out a dip stick that I hadn't been able to find. I waited in the waiting area. Short-Story: They were so honest and saved us $3300.00 on an unnecessary transmission repair that our dealership quoted us. Not only that but were done in one day with everything fixed professionally. No crap patch jobs. Long-Story: First of all.. let me say i like mechanics as much as I like their retarded hillbilly crackhead cousins... Car Salesmen. needless to say i don't trust the bastards... but Robinson-Poyner Automotive is AWSOME. When our car started acting funny on inclines I brought the car to Jeep-Chrystler and they quoted me about $6000 to fix it back including $3300 for a new transmission. Overall it would have been about a 5-6 day repair. A few days before we turned it in my girlfriend suggested we call Robinson-Poyner to see if a used transmission would save us a little money. They quoted us less than $2000 for a low-mileage transmission w/ warranty so we were like... Hells Yeah. With unexpected medical bills Christmas right around the corner we needed to save money. So when we turned it in the first thing Chris (the shop owner... so nice) said was..." I'm going to check it out 1st cause you may not need a new transmission." By this time the damm car felt like we were on a African safari on I-295. Even though i'm no mechanic I was 99% sure that transmission was trashed. We dropped it off on Wed and that afternoon they called us and said.... drum roll please... the transmission was fine. Everything else however was broken... including the radiator, CV joists ??, spark plugs and brake pads. Okay... 2nd drum roll... it was only going to be about $1500 to fix it.. ALL of it. We were sold again. FF to Thurs afternoon me and the GF are having lunch and we get a call the car was done. I said to my girlfriend. "Like ... DONE?..done?... or will be "DONE" on Mon." she said no... it's DONE. Friday we pick it up and I kid you not... Chris went though every single repair one-by-one including showing us the parts that had been broken like the old radiator and the CV thingy. I forgot the mechanic's name but even he came out and explained to us why we had been having so much problems with the heat and funny smells and stuff. They were SO nice... SO professional... SO quick I was in shock. We have been screwed so many times by the dealership it was hard to believe there was a not only honest.... but top quality repair shop. End of story... my car has never been better. I actually feel like I'm driving in America again. The heat works. No crazy sounds or smells. And most of all.... we got MONEY!! I needed to get my parking brake fixed on a '99 Volks New Beetle. Shady Auto Repair Shop X told me that I needed to replace the brake cables and the brake calipers, and that it would cost me at least $1650. I called around to several local shops, but everyone said that I'd need to bring the car in before I could get an estimate. Several of them wanted to charge me between $60 and $85 just to look at the car. I called Robinson Poyner, and after a brief phone chat it was explained to me that while it's entirely possible, even likely, that I'd need to either have the brake cables adjusted or replaced, it just wasn't likely that I actually need to have the calipers replaced. I brought the bug in, and it was fixed very quickly. In addition to replacing the brake cables, and confirming that my calipers were fine, they also fixed the other 3 items I needed fixed to pass the MD road safety test. Final pain for all 4 repairs: $760. I've found my new auto repair / auto maintenance shop. Thanks so much! read more

I was driving from my daughters school & my Lexus cut started driving as if it were dragging and all these lights came on: check engine, trac light and my VSC. This happened in the middle of Marlboro pike, on a Friday when traffic was a bit heavy, so I was embarrassed. I cut the car off, then back on in drive & I went backwards. This continued until I made it to my parking lot. I tried to backup & went forward. Finally, I'm parked and thinking a million things...where to get it towed, finding a somewhat trustworthy mechanic, trade in my vehicle, looking for a new car, etc. The thought of going to a mechanic and getting screwed out of my money was the only thing I could think of. I prayed for direction and a week went by and I was searching on Yelp for places and came across two places. One had a ton of reviews, but no serious work just minor things like oil changes. The other place however, had very little reviews, but all were 5's across the board. One review in particular mentioned possible transmission repairs and it hit home for me. So I called Robinson Poyner and spoke to Crystal and gave me some good advice and I had my vehicle towed to her shop. From beginning to end, she was extremely helpful, gave me a "worse case scenario estimate" and was upfront and honest. I may need a new trans or replace a solenoid or 2, but after they did a thorough check, 2days of ordering parts & working on my car, it was finally fixed!! Not only did they save me a couple thousands, they broke everything down to me so I could understand what my problem was. I was super pleased with my outcome and I've gained a trustworthy shop to take my car to. I could not thank Crystal & the mechanic enough for their service. Yes, I had a very good experience with Robinson Poyner. Crystal was very knowledgeable and friendly. I went in on a Friday to get a quote for a remote starter for my 2015 Avalon and was given, in my opinion, a very reasonable cost compared to what I was told it would cost me at the dealer and one other place I checked. I came to Robinson Poyner after finding them on Yelp and they are just as great as everyone else says! Mrs. Poyner was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful! She took the time to listen to all of the issues with my car and even my theories on what was wrong...even took me to the back to show me what was actually wrong! They had VERY reasonable prices! I was on the verge of trading my car in because it was leaking oil so bad, but Mrs. Poyner saved me from thousands in debt and a car loan by informing me that there was nothing wrong with my car other than a few minor repairs! I am so proud of this lady. I was taken to her by my daughter, who went to her as a result of a recommendation from a friend. She did great work for a very good price. Then my daughter took my car to this shop to get my brakes checked out. She was awesome and fair. She did not try to find all kinds of things wrong with my car to get me to spend more money, as some shops do. She fixed my car within an hour and topped off my fluids. She also put some air in my tires after checking the pressure as a bonus. She gave me lots of helpful advice about my car . Very friendly and very reasonable. Thanks Crystal, you saved me a $850 bill. I took my 2008 Chevrolet Malibu into Robinson Poyner, LLC because my check engine light was on. Crystal performed the diagnostic which revealed code P0420 Catalytic Converter. She researched the problem and discovered that Chevrolet had issued a "Special Coverage Adjustment #10134C - Catalytic Converter Warranty Extension." She advised me to take my car to the dealership so it could be repaired before the warranty expired. The special coverage was for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles whichever occurs first. When I got to the dealership, I told the service person about the problem and showed him the Robinson Poyner invoice that listed the recall number but he told me the dealership does not accept outside diagnostics. He said I would have to pay $149.99 to have them perform a diagnostic and if it was the catalytic converter then that payment could be applied to the repair bill. When I asked him if I had to pay even though this was a recall, the service person checked his computer and did not see the recall number. I showed him the paper Crystal gave me, he read it and asked for my car mileage? I told him 95,415 and he checked another computer screen which listed the warranty extension. read more
