Love this little gem in Lancaster. The service is always top notch and the food portions and price is well worth it. They have great margaritas and all kinds of appetizers. Seafood is fresh and you are guaranteed to have a good time as they usually are playing good background music. Come on, Yelp.. can't we give half star increments? I'd love for this to be a 4 1/2 stars!! Hubby and I decided to go out for "Cinco de Mayo" dinner and margaritas. I'm so glad we decided to go across town to Roca Del Mar! I have to say this is officially my favorite Mexican restaurant in the AV. First the basket of fresh, hot tortilla chips. So crispy/crunchy, they tasted like they were just made in fresh oil.. and the salsa is SO flavorful! Plenty of garlic, onions, cumin.. and not so spicy that it's painful to eat. We each had a margarita on the rocks which paired perfectly with the chips and salsa. I'm telling you, I could make a meal of those if not careful! But wait, because we decided to try something new for dinner. We ordered one of their specialties of the house: Parrillada de Mariscos for 2. If I recall the description, it's 8 types of seafood on a bed of white rice. Oh my.. it was one of the best new things we've tried in a long time! Butterflied well-grilled shrimp, fried shrimp, a spicy shrimp in a tasty sauce, crispy bacon-wrapped shrimp, octopus, fish fillets.. grilled onions, roasted whole jalapeños, even the rice was flavorful! I don't think we had a single bite that didn't make us both smile and dance in our seats. Yes, it was THAT good! There's another Yelp review which includes a photo of the huge platter that comes to the table and he complains that it's not steaming. THIS ISN'T A PLATTER OF SIZZLING FAJITAS! It isn't supposed to be billowing steam upon arrival. That would kill all of the delightfully crispy bites. The candles below are enough to keep the food warm without overcooking anything. It drives me crazy when people bash a dish without being informed. We couldn't finish our platter. The portions of everything were so generous, we really could have shared it among 3 people, possibly a fourth if we weren't being gluttons. Leftovers were packaged up to go (they included a bag of those amazing chips and a cup of the salsa!) We did want a little something sweet to finish our meal, so Mark (one of the many family members who waited on us throughout the night) suggested the fried ice cream. I've had this elsewhere, but this was SO different! The huge ball of vanilla ice cream was covered in a delicious, crispy/chewy coating with caramel, cinnamon and chocolate. The giant coated scoop was presented in a tortilla bowl prepped like the best bunuelo I've ever tasted. It was large enough to share and totally "butt-worthy". From the time we walked in and were greeted and seated by one owner (Dad), another server (Mom), their son Mark and the other owner creating the magic in the kitchen, we couldn't have been treated better. Our water and margarita glasses never went empty without offer of a refill, they kept checking to make sure everything was to our liking.. and Mark even brought us a glass of horchata "just in case the camarones diablo were too spicy". The owner told us they typically have many off-menu special items each day that we can ask about if interested.. what a treat! We are really looking forward to our next visit. We drive past a lot of other Mexican restaurants to get there, but it's worth the drive. read more

We've been here twice and compared to a lot of the other Mexican restaurants we've tried in Lancaster this spot is more authentic and their beans and rice are definitely much better then a lot of other places. Service is amazing and very welcoming :) i got the chicken fajitas with rice and beans. my first plate of beans came with a hair but they gladly changed my plate. My brother had ordered the shrimp wrapped in bacon and his bacon was still raw. overall a great restaurant, need to work on their food. read more

We attended a party on Saturday night. The bar waitress handling the Pedroza party was the most unprofessional person I have ever seen. She was shaking her ass all night long and having a fun and taking selfie's and bringing the props outside the room. She grabbed Dennis hand and lead him to the dance floor and danced before his wife was able to dance with him. I tried many times to get a drink and she just walked passed me. She was acting like she was part of the guest and not a worker. She tried to get into peoples pictures. When we were at the buffet, we had to ask for the flour tortillas. Staff was friendly but I felt the place had a little run-down feel. I came for crab legs and they only had it in a soup. For some reason I thought I saw a photo but I guess I confused this place with somewhere else. We stayed anyway since drinks were already ordered. This review is only based on my appetizers and drinks, I haven't tried any entrees but I'll update soon. Shrimp Cocktail was amazing! Its not like other places, I counted at least 20 shrimp in that b*tch. Just be careful its spicy but really good and I love that it was huge, I had to take out half of it to go. Dozen Oysters were great, didn't taste gritty and old like some places, really fresh. Chips & salsa are great here too.. but the star of the show was this special margarita they made me, half strawberry & half mango with chili (tajin, I think) on the rim and some throughout the drink, f-ing great. The customer service here was great, very attentive. This is a seafood place so thats why I tried to stick w/seafood, my man got a burrito and said it was okay. Fairly new to the AV, was looking forward for an authentic Mexican dinner. Everything seem to be going great! They greeted us promptly and seated us just as fast. our waiter Mark was very attentive and constantly making sure we were taken care of. When our food was delivered they made a huge mistake that could possibly make the whole experience into the worst service ever. Mark was very apologetic and made sure the error did not go unnoticed. Minutes later the manager (Hope) approached us and not only apologized a second time, but came back with the right order after we decided to keep the wrong order. She packed the right order to go and even make a joke, "for later when you guys get the munchies again." The apology approach would've been more than enough, I myself work in customer service and I completely understand and sympathize when it come to human errors. But they completely went out of there way to make the experience 100% excellent. MOST DEF. COMING BACK!!!! Amazing customer service due to their great leadership/management. Seems like some of these Yelp reviewers have never came across some REAL Mexican seafood before. I lived in LA all my life so I know what Mexican seafood should taste like. And let me tell you this, this is NOT IT. I found this place on Yelp. Decent reviews and I decided to try it. First off, the lady that was attending us took forever to get our drinks (5 + my 2 yr old son). When she did finally come around with our drinks, she decided to hand the drinks to everyone OVER my son and sure enough, she spilled some beer on my sons lap. I told her to NEVER serve anything over a child, as I was cleaning my sons lap. That was that. The food. Me and my cousin ordered a campechana. Nastiest cocktail ever. The taste, the texture on the crab, all bad. We even did the mistake to order 2 skillets of seafood ($40 a pop). The seafood on these supposedly skillets was old and borderline room temperature. I thought to myself, why is it not hot and sizzling like a skillet is suppose to? That's because they use little round candles to try to keep the food warm. YES, CANDLES. absurd! This so-called skillet had all kinds of seafood that did not look appetizing. Seems as if they threw a bunch of unwanted food into a big metal plate and slapped a price of $40 on it. If you truly like seafood, and KNOW how real authentic Mexican seafood should taste like, GO AWAY! DO NOT DONATE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE. The star is for the michelada they served me. A lot of great things to say about this place! First off the service is great! This was my second time and each time the service consistent; friendly, attentive staff that came by frequently for drink refills, and brought out the food quickly. Also the owner/manager is always walking around greeting people! Great atmosphere! Next the food....amazing!! If you love seafood/Mariscos this is the place. So far I've had their 7 mares soup and their shrimp and octopus with garlic and Chile and they are sooo delicious! Fresh seafood and cooked to perfection!!
