Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. But It was my granddaughter's birthday and "They don't sing anymore." Thumbs down.

Above average SMF: Standard Mexican Fare. It has a nice atmosphere, service is generally fast and friendly, and the menu is more-or-less what you expect for the genre (but well-made). Full bar service with decent call and top shelf liquors but nothing special beer-wise. There are better SMF restaurants around but also many, many worse. If you're in Cross Lanes or western Kanawha / eastern Putnam counties it's worth a trip. read more

This is a great Mexican restaurant! The service was amazing and very prompt. I had a t-bone, my wife had the carne asada; both were wonderful and well cooked. The enchilada sauce is also really good. We will definitely return soon and regularly! Update (Feb. 2016): We continue to go to this restaurant when we have a craving for good Mexican and they continue to impress us. I will blog as I'm served. Greeted with smiles and taken right to seat. About two minutes some chips and white sauce with another bowl of sauce. Waiter here. Got my drinks. Ordered food. Shrimp fajitas for one even though there are two of us. Got the beans and rice. 10 minutes. Here's my food. Looks great. Big shrimp. No wraps yet though. Can't try it. Got them. Food is awesome! Unless you and your date are el grande in size, get fajitas for one with extra wraps. Plenty of food. Million of these type of restaurants in the USA. Some very very good. Some bad. ROCAS - Mexican Near Me - Charleston, West Virginia

I hate to leave a negative led review but here it is.. we stopped on our way home for dinner yesterday (we live 2hours away in Ky) we were greeted by a hostess who asked if my 2 year old needed a menu, I said no... she said "well she's getting one anyways"... seated at our table and then waited 10-12 minutes on our drinks, then another 5 to bring my toddlers chocolate milk (mind you it's not busy at all, 6-7 tables in the entire place) we order immediately as we are crunched on time, we then waited 35 minutes on food alone just for it to be wrong. We had asked the waitress twice if it was ready yet and she said it was almost up the 1st time then 15 minutes later she said "well I mean it was up when I was just back there I guess I can go see if they'll bring it out". At this point we're just done with the whole place and eat a few bites and pay the bill. Our waitress acted ignorant every time we asked her about something on the menu or when our food would be finished all the way down to if we could have another cup of salsa which we never got. ROCAS - Dos Equis and a margarita - Mexican Near Me - Charleston, West Virginia

FAIL. Rock in beans, damaged tooth, management ignores. 7/29/2021. My family received our food order and were dining in the restaurant. Our order was #166, served by K, at about 2:30 pm at the Nitro Rocas Mexican Grill location. Thereupon, I bit into a rock, see photograph, and sensed a significant potential fracture of my tooth. Immediately I contacted K, the server, and reported the incident. She said she couldn't do anything. I then requested to speak to the Rocas manager. After waiting for several minutes, another member of the wait staff appeared at our table who reported that the manager was unavailable. Feeling disrespected, I reported the incident to her and was met with a dismissive response. She left our table without addressing the issue. I then re-contacted K, our waitress, and demanded to see the actual manager. After another lengthy wait, S, the manager finally appeared. I re-recounted the incident and he demanded to see the stone. I showed him the stone and told him that I may have fractured a tooth. His reply was "You have to understand that we cook a lot of beans and an occasional stone will slip through". I had to insist upon even getting S's name as he was resistant to identifying himself. He dismissed us with the statement that he had given a termination notice to Rocas and wouldn't be managing much longer. We were amazed at the lack of responsibility demonstrated by both S and the previous wait staff. Alberto Gonzales, the corporate manager, has blocked communications and refused to address remediation of this incident. read more

I ordered the nachos supremos for dinner one night and the chicken quesadilla for lunch the following day. Food is well seasoned, delicious and not greasy. Meat is cooked fresh and not precooked. Service is ok; fast but nothing special. read more

Poor Customer Service My buddies and I arrived around 4:50 pm, Monday to get a few drinks and meet some people after work. We were nicely seated at the bar. But the two gentlemen behind the bar look d at us and left. After 10 minutes we flagged down a waitstaff and asked if they could get someone to serve us drinks. A couple of minutes later one of the two came back. We ordered 2 draft beers and a margarita on the rocks. The bar tender got us the two beers and then left. We waited another few minutes before asking a waitstaff if they could agin get someone to serve our margarita. The staff made it for us. Needless to say, after waiting over 20 minutes for three drinks we paid our bill and went to a different restaurant. Do not recommend. read more

BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU ARE PAYING YOUR BILL WITH YOUR DEBIT/CREDIT CARD!!! We have been longtime diners at the Rocas in Cross Lanes. At least once sometimes twice a month. We have never had any issues with them. Food is usually quick to come out and usually hot. Something has changed this year, they have an employee by the name of Eric that likes to add more $$ to your check after you have filled in the total and signed your slip. First time it happened to us was in January. Since it had never happened before we assumed It was a mistake, but Eric added $5 to our ticket after we signed our receipt. We left a cash tip and signed our credit card slip for the amount of the bill only. Couple weeks later I was reconciling my account and to my surprise my total for there was $5 more than I signed for. Didn't make a trip right then to call them out but decided when we went back again we would bring it to the managers attention. When we went a couple weeks later we did tell him. He apologized and offered to take it off our bill. Well......after paying again with our debit card, just found out on that very ticket of that night Eric once again added $2 more to that bill???? read more

Hard to believe that this has four stars. Probably the worst Mexican we have ever had. Very disappointing. We had chicken soft tacos and a chicken taco salad. The chicken was like boiled shredded chicken. Never dreamed that it would be that kind of chicken. The salsa was not flavorful or spicy. The chips were good. read more

This was my second time to La Rocas. This time I took a friend because I was so pleased with my first visit...the food was wonderful, the service could have been better but a pleasant experience anyway. I paid with my card and we decided that it better to leave cash for the tip so I wrote 0 on the line for tip. We have been to the this restaurant a number of times but not recently until yesterday when we happened to be in the area and wanted Tex-Mex food. The food was as good as we had remembered it, which is a good sign. Two beef tacos which were crisp and very satisfying and not overly spiced. Two chicken enchiladas, which were outstanding, and rice and beans (nice side dishes). My wife had a Tex-Mex fish dish which she pronounced excellent. Service was excellent and I quite enjoyed their very fresh tasting salsa (plenty of cilantro flavor). In short, we'd go again *any time.* (Why not a FIVE? I came here for lunch and had the special that consisted of 2 enchiladas & my grandma had el azteca. We sat on the terrace, which was nice although there are no umbrellas so it was very sunny. Absolutely the best local Mexican spot hands down! Do yourself a favor and get the fish tacos, they are delicious!!! I just wish they were made with something other than horrible tilapia. We only stopped in for margaritas and chips and guacamole but I have to say I went back twice during my visit. The margaritas and daiquiris were amazing. I had one of each. The bartender was the reason we came back. She was the little red head. She actually engaged in a conversation and we all talked for hours.
