I started calling at 1:30p on 1/19/26 and there was no answer, however, when I googled them, the hours for today say 8am-3pm. I decided to go to Sprouts to get a salad instead. When I passed by Roccabs at 1:40pm same day, the doors were open and patrons were inside eating lunch. I continued to call and no one was answering the phones. After I finished shopping at Sprouts, I returned to my car and decided to go to Roccabs in person. I was still calling and still no one answered. I pulled up in front of the deli before 2pm and there were still patrons dining "inside" of the deli. I got out of my car and headed inside only to meet one of the employees as she was leaving and she smiled and said, "Im sorry we are closing now". I looked over at the two women who were sitting down and eating their lunch, as I was turned away. There were no hours posted on the door, and everyone behind the counter was literally standing around talking. I probably will not return based on the service. Not answering the phones, but your doors are open and you are serving patrons who were white and turning away people of color coming through the door, during normal business hours according to Google and no signs on the door indicating special hours today. All while turning away POC patrons on MLK day. Nope!!! Do better Roccab. You could have taken the time to post special hours and since you were in fact open, you could have answered the phones to let customers know you had special hours today or that you were Not open to the public. These are simple things to do. And it looks really awkward telling someone you are not open, when you have other people dining inside your establishment. read more

I frequent this cafe/deli. I love to get the grilled chicken panini with extra mayo. It's so simple, but so good. I always enjoy the panini whenever I get it. They do get busy. Sometimes, I try and call to place my order and no one is able to pick up my call. The other day I came in to order and it took about 15 minutes to get my order so not bad. The sandwich ends up being a little over $15 which is expensive, especially with the size of the panini, but worth it to me. Parking can be difficult when it is lunch time as there is only street parking. Whenever I have had put coins in the meter, they never work. So I downloaded the Park Mobile App so I am able to pay through there when I stop by to pick up lunch. I have never eaten at the cafe, but they do have indoor and outdoor dining. I LOVE this place! Their sandwiches are unequaled. We like to treat ourselves there and make an effort to drive to San Leandro for them. However, I only gave 4 stars because of their lack of proper communication. One, they rarely answer the phone and there's no personalized answering machine message which would be ideal to communicate to customer if they closed early or closing for certain holidays. Two, this also pertains to the website, who according to them, are open Monday - Friday, but we've come by during business hours and they are closed.
