Stopped by Elio's Family Restaurant with a big group (12 of us!) and had a great experience overall. This place is huge and very busy, but they clearly have their process down because everything came out efficiently and exactly as ordered for everyone in our party -- which is impressive for such a large table. I had a side salad, a virgin Bloody Mary, and the ham, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich. My husband ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, and we shared a strawberry-topped pancake. Everything we tried was delicious and the drinks were great too. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the long wait to be seated, but honestly it's worthy of the wait. Once you're in, the service moves quickly and smoothly. If you're in the area and looking for a spot that can handle big groups and still deliver good food, I definitely recommend giving Elio's a try. read more

Finding parking was really easy even during peak dinner hours, as the plaza is rather big but it is not very busy. Even as walk-ins, our party of 9 was seated quickly. The menu is big and caters to an American diner type of taste; eggs, sandwiches, burgers and similar fare. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food came out at a reasonable time. They're quick to accommodate dietary needs and preferences as well. The food itself was only alright. I ordered one of their specials, the Petrale Sole, and it was under seasoned and a bit too oily for my tastes. It also comes with your choice of soup or salad, along with a separate dinner side (rice, spaghetti, some form of potato, etc.) as well. All of these were also just okay. The pricing is reflective of the plethora of sides, which I personally dislike, as I would prefer lower pricing with no sides if given the option. My wife and I always go to Elios for their Tuesday Specials. What we always order is their Taco Salad. One picture is worth a thousand words! The humongest taco shell is fried individually and the fresh ingredients are the best......lettuce, refried beans on the bottom, plenty of ground beef, cheese, olives, a nicely sliced whole half of an avocado, salsa, sour cream and upon request.... Thousand island dressing. This is only one of their specials that day. Remember to go early as they may run out. Upon walking in, I really like the old school diner feel with the counter seating, the large dining areas filled with deep red upholstery booths, and bar area with flat screen tvs showing the games. Second time here first time was during Covid. Service was ok not bad. We were seated right away. They took our order and our drinks were brought pretty quick. Omelet is good size loaded with ham and cheese. The pancakes were pretty flat and not a ton of flavor were just ok. The egg breakfast was a good size. Eggs were cooked perfect but felt like the potatoes didn't have much flavor. The mimosa flight is huge great deal but it's def a lot and made for sharing. Lots of different options for juices and brought in a pretty display. Lots of parking available and the place was busy but it didn't feel like it was too loud. Took a pause from a hectic morning to meet a friend for breakfast here. I'm not in San Leandro often, so this was my first time here, but my friend is a regular. What a nice spot! The folks working here are welcoming and very nice. The restaurant is clean and spacious, with a classic diner design. But a nice, well-kept diner, not one of those dingy ones. I had the vegetarian omelette with hash browns, and it was very good. Flavorful, and everything was cooked just right - no rubbery eggs or burned hash browns here. They kept my coffee mug filled. My partner and I decided to dine here recently. It's a spacious restaurant with plenty of options for seating. They also have a bar in the very back. We decided to try the prime rib special, chicken tenders, and the bacon cheese burger. They served us a bowl of ranch to go with the fries and chicken tenders. The flavors of the bacon cheese burger was amazing! I haven't had a burger that was that juicy and flavorful in a while. The smokiness of the bacon paired perfectly with the juicy beef patty. The chicken tenders were amazing as well and I loved how delicious their ranch was! It was one of those more yogurt forward ranch dips with a strong dill profile! Unfortunately I really disliked the prime rib. You get what you paid for but this one was unacceptable. It was a really huge piece of meat, however it was incredibly tough. There was also a huge piece of pure fat. The meat was really tough, it was hard to cut and even harder to chew. I ended up not eating much of the prime rib as it was just hard to eat. We love trying out local restaurants and supporting local businesses. This place has a beautiful interior. It's great for family brunches. Came here after a 9am service from church and it was packed. Pretty popular place! We waited for 30 minutes since we were a party of 7. We had another appointment so I asked the host if we can just order to go. They tried to accommodate our group right away and got seated in 5 minutes. They have large servings of great American food! We had leftovers for lunch! Our server was efficient and nice too! I want Elios to do well but our visit was really more of a 3. Was inspired to go after watching Mike Lim's review. I have been in the past and had wonderful experiences (even in large groups) but this time was a bit disappointing. The food was fine but the service was lacking. Maybe because we were seated in the back we didn't get much service. The extra plates weren't cleared and we had to pile our dishes off to the side hoping someone would see them and clear the area. The food was generous and overall good. Spaghetti side was a bit salty. I was let down by the service especially since I've had better at Elios. Maybe it was an off day? I hope so. It was a Friday night and I had a craving for prime rib. I remember seeing recent YouTube review of this place that serve prime ribs on Friday nights. So off I went though it was past 7 pm. Checking with the waitress, there was one piece remaining but was medium. Although I prefer it medium rare I was happy to have the remaining slice. The beef was nicely seasoned, it came with au jus, creamy horse rasdish, baked potatoes with sour cream and butter, and steamed vegetables. I usually eat the skit part first and it didn't disappointment and was enough for me. I finished the baked potatoes and steamed vegetables. The service, I felt spoiled with the amount of attention. This was going to be the first review of the new year but forgot about in my draft folder. After being here a few times now it is finally time for a review. Actually thought I already had. What to say, what to say. Well for starters this place is massive with a main dining room and counter and a back room and bar. Yes they have a full bar!!!! The menu is extensive even with a "keto breakfast" section on the menu, even though many of the dishes would be keto friendly or made to be. New Year's Day was packed with lots of people waiting. Lucky for us there was just 2 of us so we were seated immediately. In the past we have sat at the bar in the back but on this day we got a table. We both ordered the Early Bird Special with bacon. This was prior to my partner going some pescatarian/vegetarian nonsense. She also had the momo flight with different juices. So this flight ain't no samples. It's 4 full size momos delivered on a tiered wire frame. Did I mention they have a full bar. Hours are 7:30AM-9:00PM everyday. Lots of locals and regulars. I came here for an early dinner with my bf. I was looking for something light and it seems like my bf really enjoys places that have breakfast food. It all had a cozy feeling to it. When our food came out, it looked a lot better than the pictures represented. Overall, I enjoyed my omelette plate, especially the hash brown. As with most breakfast foods, I did have to add salt/pepper to adjust the flavor to my liking. I asked my bf how his food was and he said it was fine. Once we were done, we waited for the check. It was a nice family style restaurant - good place to get some food with a wide selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner items. Third time I ordered from here and the burnt my pork chops. They were black charred and the person said that if you don't want it burnt you should ask for it medium. Unacceptable. My spouse picked it up so I had to leave home drive here return their burnt chops. I'm in line with an uber driver after I return my food who tells me it's an ongoing issue with burning food and sending it out. I loved this place. I took my family here a few times a month to eat but the food quality for takeout is horrible. I would advise to not do uber eats or door dash and if you do take out look at the food before you accept it or do like me and never order take out here again. I noticed that a diner at the table next to me left nearly all their hash browns behind. It let me know the hash browns weren't cooked properly. We all need more restaurants like Elios. When I ate here, I felt that sense of nostalgia for diners and family restaurants serving an eclectic array of dishes. There's also the clientele of these types of places that warms the heart sometimes: Like, older couples, eating dinner before 5pm, looking for that blue plate special, families, and working class regulars who sit at the counter. Then there's the regular staff who are known by everyone and know everyone. Elios seems to have it all as far as that nostalgic dining experience I'm talking about. The food I've tried has been pretty good and I hope to go back to taste their specials. I recently had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and was very pleased it was a big portion served with garlic bread and soup--the sauce was not an afterthought, it was very creamy and I could taste the flavors of parmesan and garlic. We also ordered the pork chop and cheeseburger. Though I didn't eat either dish I was told they were good. I was impressed by their carrot cake too; I ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture (I forgot to ask if they make it in-house). I have a feeling I'll be coming back again soon. read more

It's a good place. The food was good. The service was good. My only caution is the prices are beyond what I feel is worth the visit. To be fair I believe this is the case with most breakfast places today. My wife and I have decided that the breakfast places are too expensive for what you get and we cook just as well if not better. The money is just not well spent. If we're going to go out we go to a fine restaurant at night. And have a dinner.
