    Stracciatelle Soup

Yum. Stopped for a few slices. One Sicilian with mushrooms. And tried their chicken Marsala slice. Pretty, pretty good. And, for dessert, had the straciatelli soup! A pleasant surprise for a Sunday night driving from Albany to NYC.

    Personal pizza.

I ordered a personal pizza, small Calzone and Eggplant parm dinner. All is delicious and great portion for the dinner, with a beautiful spring mix salad as well as bread. I was given extra sauce with Calzone and didn't even ask. Huge plus for me! The pizza is my favorite in town and their prices are great compared to others in the area. I highly recommend

Rocco's Pizza New Paltz : Stopped by to talk to Rocco. Always a good time catching up with an old school Italian Brooklynite, accent and all. Pizza is solid. Calzone was packed with ricotta and grandma slice had alot of fresh mozz. Give it a try. I like reheated slices because they get a delicate crisp on the bottom you don't usually get from a slice pie.

Cheesesteak a la Rocco (with onion pepper and mushroom) was excellent! Great roll and large portion.

Ciao Bella -- A Special Occasion Worth the Occasion…read more We came for our wedding anniversary, arriving early on a Friday around 5pm. Ciao Bella is New Paltz's upscale Italian, and at that hour the restaurant was quiet and sun-drenched, light streaming through generous windows into a space that manages to feel both airy and elegant. I imagine it transforms into something darker and more intimate as evening settles in, but the brightness suited us just fine. Service was attentive and friendly throughout. No complaints, just not the kind of thing you leave talking about. The food, though, is worth talking about. A smoked salmon burrata appetizer was a genuinely lovely combination, and the golden beet salad was bright and well-composed. Entrees showed real care, seasoned and portioned thoughtfully rather than the aggressive abundance that passes for generosity at lesser places. The pistachio ricotta cake for dessert was the highlight: creative, not too sweet, and exactly the right size to split. Good value for what it is. Ciao Bella is the right answer for a special dinner in New Paltz, elevated without being stiff about it. Not an everyday spot, but exactly the right one when the occasion calls for it.

The food was ah-mazing! Every dish on the table was spectacular. Waitstaff was attentive and knowledgeable. Music was at the perfect volume, just enough to hear without interfering with conversation. Meal wasn't as pricey as some of the other places we tried on this trip to New Paltz, definitely worth the money.

We came during happy hour by accident and had $7 vodka lemonades which were sweet but good and a good size. He got the $8 sliders (2) and we also got the $1 spicy popcorn. It's a great deal. He also got the $8 side salad which was pretty big and delicious. It had garlic and some of kind of dressing I can't describe but was very good. It also had baby yellow and red tomatoes which tasted fresher than the grocery but are also in season. I had the Halloumi salad which had peaches and the same kind of tomatoes was sooooo good and refreshing. I was blown away. The place had a music theme and our server was phenomenal. I didn't catch his name but he was friendly and informative without being overbearing. He had glasses and black curly hair and was a white guy. We received water. 15 minutes went by: we saw the waitress scrambling to bring out drinks, bread and food for tables while the waiter was also bartending inside and outside. They must be understaffed because these two employees were doing absolutely everything they could to keep this place afloat, I felt bad for them. So did other guests because one woman (in frustration of not getting her check) began to help bus and clean tables. We asked both waiters for bread. 15 minutes later, another waitress arrives at the restaurant to help, we ask her for bread. We waited around 30 minutes just for bread. Our appetizer (each got lobster bisque) was delicious. Other parties were so annoyed at the service, one table send someone to go over to Water Street and brought back hot dogs!!! Multiple new customers arrived, saw the poor service and left. Our entrees were great! We agreed that the chef was awesome, but no one wants to spend 3 hours of their afternoon at a restaurant!

We ducked into here at the start of a huge storm after throwing one back at the Parish across the street. What a lovely respite! It was a quiet night and we sat at the bar. There was a good selection of wines by the glass and trust me, I indulged enthusiastically. We had good conversation with the lovely bartender, the owner and one of the waiters. Everyone was so nice, gave us a lot of insight to the area as well, cuz we're not from 'round these parts (but will be moving not so far away in the near future). There is a covered patio area lit with fairy lights and tiki torches that positively beckoned to us, but that damn weather... that said we found inside, back by the bar is equally inviting. It also bears mentioning that New Paltz (understandably) has an array of college student-oriented establishments and The Station definitely appeals to an older demographic (read: parents of college students, professors, travelers) which is a plus for anyone also looking for a great date night spot.

The garlic knots weren't much better; the sauce tasted like it came straight from the can with no seasoning, leaving everything a bit bland. For what I got--2 slices, 2 knots, and a coke--it came to $17, which felt expensive for the quality. The dining area was empty during my visit, and the location is tucked into a shared strip-mall parking lot, which takes away from the experience. On the plus side, the service was good and the staff were friendly, which is why I didn't rate lower. Overall, it's an okay spot if you're hungry, but don't expect anything beyond average.

There is something so satisfying about a grilled salmon filet on top of a savory crunchy salad. Which is exactly what I went for. I ordered the beet+orange+feta+walnuts salad at the counter to eat here. Time was ticking for me and mentioned to one of the guys I rather take it with me. Price was fantastic for a green salad and a hefty piece of protein. However, half of my salmon was raw. Listen, I love eating sashimi- but it's one thing to eat it- and it's another when you get an undercooked fish filet on a bed of greens. The piece of salmon in my salad was substantial- and the only edible parts were the crispy, cooked edges. Had it been temped to like just barellllllly opaque, I would've enjoyed it. But, it was an immediate garbage toss.
