I prefer just one key when possible. The local locksmith shop closed in Mount Clemens, so I needed to hunt the area for locksmith service. I called a company and explained what I needed, and also needed repair to a door lock, because the key would not work in it. They could help if I removed the door lock and brought it in. I was not able to do so, and they recommended Autosmart as a mobile solution. I asked about things, like reputation and rates and such. They assured me that Autosmart was an honest and trusted business. I called and set up an appointment. The day turned out to be rather nasty weather wise, but they stopped by my house and got to work. They rekeyed the ignition switch to match the doors, then removed the damaged door lock and repaired it. I also requested spare keys, and they worked fine. The cost was reasonable for the service rendered. I am a satisfied customer. I highly recommend this reputable locksmith company.

Since it used the same key as the lock in the front door, I thought I would be changing both locks, plus the deadbolt on the front door, so I wouldn't have to carry two keys to the house and wouldn't have to remember which one to use on a dark, cold, rainy night when I had my arms full of packages. I wanted to go to a brick-and-mortar store, not just call somebody who had a listing in the phone book or was carpet-bombing Yelp with spam. Well, Big D Lock City has been in this spot for at least 30 years, according to the guys behind the counter. The same guys also said that they could simply sell me one new lock and key it to the locks I already had, thus saving me a couple hundred dollars and a load of aggravation. (I have a couple friends and family members who have keys to my house, and they would all need to be notified and resupplied.) The locksmith came out the next day as scheduled, finished the job quickly and took my credit card without a hassle. I thought the price was reasonable, but it's not like I called three other shops and compared. I just felt good about the place when I walked in and saw a place that had a timeworn feel to it, a place where they were honest and old-school about their work. If I need a locksmith again, I know who I'll call.

He proceeds to do so and it works. He walks back to give me my change and old key. He says "oh I'll just keep this for the repair" referring to my change and repair for old key. The change wasn't much but it was the principle of how he decided to mention there was a "fee" for such. Didn't notify me of fee for old key. Just decided to keep my change. When all the while I could have been done with the task at hand hours ago with the dealership. Just unprofessional in my opinion.
