He charged me nothing. They prioritize solving a customer's problem over making a quick buck. They know the equipment and are professionals. Livermore Saw and Mower, Rant !! Took my gas pressure washer in for service due to my not being able to start it, it did have some old fuel from last year in it, but topped it off with new fuel. This was three weeks ago. Got called last Thursday that the carburetor needed to be replaced due to the old one not running right after it had been cleaned. I ok'd the replacement. I was given an estimate of not to exceed 160.00 and paid 60.00 deposit when I dropped it off. Thursday was told it would be about 200.00 to replace carb. Went to pick up power washer and asked for old carb. It looks like they never took it apart to clean it as stated, see pics, there is still grease on the screws, also that stated they did oil change, again, how they do that without unscrewing either of the drain plugs ? See pics. I just bought a new Stihl battery lawnmower from them three weeks ago, I will be finding a different dealer. BTW, brought this all to the owners attention, he stands by what his tech noted, even when I showed him the evidence. read more

This is crazy because I have been going to these guys for a while now and have always had good service, so I am a bit perplexed by this. I have brought my riding lawnmower here, purchased supplies here over and over and even brought my rototiller here to have them seat a tire that came off the wheel. Why am I perplexed? Well, I purchased a new tire for the rototiller as the tire had gone flat again, and I could not get the new tire bead to set and hold air. Now these guys did this for me last year (got charged for it too), so I went back and gave the tire to the guy at the counter who took it to the back. About 30 seconds later, he came back and said (quoting), "My manager doesn't want to get into this right now". WHAT? I don't know who the "manager" was, but if he is not the owner, the owner should know about this. My guess as to why "the manager did not want to get into this right now" - it was 3:45 on a Saturday (they close at 4pm). See how I figured that out right there! Given that it took about 15 minutes to set the tire last time, they just lost a lifetime customer. Pretty costly 15 minutes, I would say.... read more

We like the service. Everything is a bit pricey but it's to be expected for a place that caters nicely to the local community. I bought just about all my small motors here. Came here last week and brought in my chainsaw and they readily replaced the chain and took off the old chain to sharpen for $10bucks ready in a couple of days. read more

I have been going to Livermore Saw And Mower since I moved to Livermore in the early 1980s. I have always had good service. There were a few times when I wanted to fix things but was told it didn't make sense to spend that much money on fixing it. I have always gotten sound advice. John has done a great job of hiring a splendid team to run the front and help with the repairs in the back. I find that their turnaround time on repairs is very quick especially with the staff that is in place now. I am a certified arborist based out of Livermore. I have gone to other saw shops and found that Livermore Saw And Mower's prices are reasonable in the industry. I do highly recommend their store. read more

Who say MOM AND POP joints are dead? I came with family about an "overpriced repair bid" for a blower. The front desk contact took the time to point out worn parts, show in the catalog how much those parts cost, and explained the cost difference between repair and new was very minimal: they'd be glad to do either. They also encouraged us to call around about the cost of repair so we were sure. IN ADDITION, they looked up the purchase history so we knew that the current blower was 8 years old: indeed it had given a few blow..er.. downs in in it's time so it was TIME.. Friendly, honest, trustworthy and decent company. Much better than your typical larger alternatives. read more

I took my weed eater in for starting problems. It took a week for them to get back to me and they said it needed a new carburetor. They replaced it and now the choke doesn't work at all (it use to). I use to be able to start it with 6 or less pulls, now it takes too many to count and when I called the rudely said bring it in. They act like they don't care. I went to this store to have my Craftsman chainsaw fixed, based on past experience. I didn't realize the ownership changed. The saw part of their name is deceiving now. The counter person told me they don't work on my brand of saw. Huh? When did a small motor change in the physics and mechanics? I saw nothing but Stihl products in their showroom so I guess that's the product they prefer to sell and repair. The trip was a total waste of my time. I found a shop in Dublin, walked in and asked if they work on my brand of saw. The counter person looked puzzled and then said they work on any small engine tools; mowers, trimmers, saws, and so forth. The Livermore business "saw" the last of me for good. read more

I had a friend transport my lawn mower into them since it does not fit in my car and paid them $100 to repair the mower. When I had my friend help me again by bringing it home, it was still broken. It would not start. The trottle cable was replaced but would not move. They would not help me with anything, just keeping my $100. I have to get some parts for it, but do not want to go there and give them more of my money. I would NEVER go there again. WHY is there no other place that we can go to in this valley for small engine repairs????? Seems like a great business opportunity for someone good and honest. read more

Been going to this business for 5 years as it was recommended to me by a friend when I moved to Livermore. They were always a off with regard to attitude but when I went in today they rubbed me wrong for the last time. I don't know why, sometimes when a business is popular they get a little to big for their own good. I know I sound angry, but I don't like being loyal to a business and in return be treated poorly. Took my (under warranty) Echo leaf blower here for repair about 6 weeks ago. After a long wait in line left my blower there for 2 weeks before they took a look at it, fixed it and charged me for a carburetor adjustment. It worked twice after that - then the same problem. Took it back again -now they say the carburetor requires replacement and will be covered under warranty. Didn't offer me a refund on my first go around but got it back 3 weeks later working great. Good repair -2nd try - customer service could be better.... Will likely try somewhere else next time.... read more

I went in yesterday to get a price on repairs to a Craftsman lawn vacuum/mower that I have had for a few years. When I asked if they could take a look at it, almost before I finished getting the words out of my mouth, the gentleman behind the counter said "it can't be fixed". He didn't look at it, ask what problem I was having....nothing. Just "it can't be fixed". I was very disappointed since I have taken mowers there in the past and was always treated cordially, and had repairs done at a fair price. Coincidentally, I had a neighbor check it out this morning, and all it needed was a new spark plug and replacing the gas - about a 5-10 minute fix. I doubt that I will be doing any future business with this merchant. read more

Repairs to my gas powered hand tools....Livermore saw and mower have been servicing my power tools going all the way back to 88 when we move to town. Have yet to have any service issues, repairs are always completed promptly and they always supply me with the old/failed parts that were removed. They have a good selection of the higher end power tools / accessories. Chippers, saws, mowers, trimmers and more. If you are needing something that the big box stores do not offer, this is the place to go. Perhaps the best part of the business is that the repair technicians are in the store which means if you have questions, they are usually available to respond, real time. read more

good selection on chain saws and weedeaters and blowers and generators, just do your homework on the item you want before you go in. A true mom and pop business with the pros and cons of such. I talked with a tall guy named John and he was helpful in my purchase but he was too swamped with work to answer all my rookie questions on chain saws. This is a classic mom and pop shop with great service (if you buy form them). I have bought multiple pieces of equipment from them and they were happy to service my equipment when I had issues with them.Although, it did take me two weeks to get my hedge trimmer back but the shop was backed up and understaffed. The shop is clean and does a good job showing the equipment and the staff is happy showing you some equipment you may be interested in. I enjoy going to this place whenever I may need something and find it easier to flag someone down if you need some help as compared to a big box store, plus it is better to buy locally. read more

Why would you ever go to a big box retail store when you have great place like this even somewhat nearby. The staff is all incredibly friendly. It is a old school mom and pop shop (literally) and the prices are great to start with. I always have them sharpen everything for me from my knives and scissors to my chainsaw. We have been using this place for the past 6 years, and being a small business owner I know times get busy and things can get backed up, but the customer service and time they have been taking to even just give an estimate is almost 2 weeks out, then it takes them another week or so to get parts in and actually do the repairs! We have purchased over $5,000 worth of equipment from them, and have all repairs done by them. But again, over the past year when we bring in a mower, blower, trimmer etc. and we get told it will be done in 2 weeks, but it has taken between 3-4 weeks! There have been times where we could not wait and had to buy another machine so we do not get too behind ourselves. Who ever is doing the repair work is doing a very bad job as each time we get one of our tools back something else goes wrong and once again it is in the shop! We will no longer be using Livermore Saw & Mower starting June, even if we have to take our tools to the place in Tracy! read more

Took my mower in for a carburetor problem, they suggested a complete service and tune up. Three ten minute mowing's later, same problem. Told it now needs a new carburetor because it is in such bad shape with build up from using "bad gas" and not the special gas they sell. Never mentioned during the $140.00 tune up that the carburetor had issues. Buyer beware! read more

Family run business that used to be very good. I have been using them since the early 90's. My most recent experience with them unfortunately was extremely disappointing. Had an equipment issue with a product that I purchased from them that was still under warranty. Livermore Saw and Mow told me the issue would not be covered under warranty and wanted me to pay over $200 in repairs. I questioned them on this as the equipment was only one year old with a five year warranty. They offered little assistance and I gave me an 800 number to call versus the rep that calls on their shop. I called the 800 number and Echo was great to work with. Echo was very responsive and got the rep that calls on the shop involved. I was issued a new piece of equipment as Echo had some type of a design flaw with the one that I purchased. Bottom line, I was taken care of, but not because of Livermore Saw and Mow. It appears that the kids are now running the business and that they have forgotten about customer service. I will be looking for a new shop in the Tri Valley. read more

I brought in a weed wackier (gas Ryobi) that I have had for a few years. It just recently (3 months) stopped working. It needed a new fuel line and primer pump. I got a repair kit from the local hardware store but ran out of time for a DYI. I had some kids needing the tool for a scout service project. I brought the tool to them and was told it would be $65 for parts $85 for labor with out even looking at it. They told me it needed a new carburetor. Without looking? Then they tried to sell me a new tool at twice the price. Will not be back. Have had better expire acne close by. read more
