I went in the other day to purchase a hole saw and arbor that I needed for a job. True Value did not have the size I needed (pretty typical, as their inventory seems to be perpetually low). So I bought the next size down, thinking I might make it work. $50. As it turned out, I never used it. Never opened it or even took it out of the truck. Went back to return the items today and got $40 back. I was told there was a 20% restocking fee on all returned items. $10 charge for something that would take 10 seconds to put back on the shelf. I never heard of such a thing. Complete rip off. They will not get another cent from me.

What do you do when you need a key made...in a hurry?…read more My Son is a Realtor and needed a key made in a hurry for a lock box as the house was scheduled for a showing with short notice. He asked if I could assist and of course I said yes. This location is in Rock Hill but the closest option for me in Fort Mill. Unlike Lowes, there was no one to greet me at the door or to ask what I needed help with. SO, I'm looking for someone to ask and no one is available. I finally found the area for Keys to discover it was now Self-Service. The machine is called a HILLMAN. I'm computer literate, I have a MacBook an iPad and I've had multiple Smart Phones. I've been working with computers for years. I could not figure this machine out. I posted a pic if you want to see it I began to look for help, all the people at the registers were busy. There were no CSR in the aisles. I finally walked down to the end of all the registers to the 'Pro Desk', there was a guy there doing NOTHING. I asked for assistance he said 'I'll call someone for you'. I'm standing by the machine. I waited 10 minutes. Finally a lady came strolling up, didn't say a word and was walking by me and I said 'can you help me with a key'? She said 'oh, that was you?' The system 'defaults' to creating a car key with a FOB. I needed just a regular old door key. I asked if she could explain what she was doing so I could do it myself if I needed to the next time. She was having issues with the machine herself. It took her a few minutes of trail and error to get to the right screen. Twenty (20) minutes and $4 bucks later I had my key. Technology is great....when it works and a little Customer Service goes a LONG WAY.

I ended up not liking the flooring I had anticipated coming in to buy and then the second option I wanted wasn't in stock so it took a while to pick something I liked that would also fit our lifestyle (aka scratch resistant, waterproof, less slippery, not too dark, no grey hues, not too light!). He was patient and very sweet with my dogs. My contractor wasn't responding regarding a time to schedule delivery so I planned to call and order over the phone the next day however the Home Depot system wouldn't allow me to when I tried. If it wasn't for Nathan, I would have ordered online at this point but I gave up $115 in Capital One rewards so that I could go BACK to the store later in the week to order in person and give my $2800 business to the actual location since he had been so helpful. I've had nothing but difficulty with Home Depot ever since. So far, I have had to purchase two different kinds of paint because the lady at the paint counter sold me the wrong type of paint for my bathroom ceiling. She assured me it was the right kind but, it was not. It is not returnable. I am out $45 for that unusable paint. I had to return a side splash for my vanity last night (Not Home Depot's fault) and the two people at customer service acted as if I was an inconvenience and interrupting their conversation. I also asked for information on where I could locate a certain item in the store and his response was, "I guess it's on aisle two." It was not on aisle two. I roamed that store looking for what I needed and never saw a single person to ask for help. I have been nothing but disappointed with Home Depot. Once I make my final payment on my expensive bathroom vanity, I will be closing my Home Depot credit card and exclusively shopping at Lowes.
