What do you do when you need a key made...in a hurry? My Son is a Realtor and needed a key made in a hurry for a lock box as the house was scheduled for a showing with short notice. He asked if I could assist and of course I said yes. This location is in Rock Hill but the closest option for me in Fort Mill. Unlike Lowes, there was no one to greet me at the door or to ask what I needed help with. SO, I'm looking for someone to ask and no one is available. I finally found the area for Keys to discover it was now Self-Service. The machine is called a HILLMAN. I'm computer literate, I have a MacBook an iPad and I've had multiple Smart Phones. I've been working with computers for years. I could not figure this machine out. I posted a pic if you want to see it I began to look for help, all the people at the registers were busy. There were no CSR in the aisles. I finally walked down to the end of all the registers to the 'Pro Desk', there was a guy there doing NOTHING. I asked for assistance he said 'I'll call someone for you'. I'm standing by the machine. I waited 10 minutes. Finally a lady came strolling up, didn't say a word and was walking by me and I said 'can you help me with a key'? She said 'oh, that was you?' The system 'defaults' to creating a car key with a FOB. I needed just a regular old door key. I asked if she could explain what she was doing so I could do it myself if I needed to the next time. She was having issues with the machine herself. It took her a few minutes of trail and error to get to the right screen. Twenty (20) minutes and $4 bucks later I had my key. Technology is great....when it works and a little Customer Service goes a LONG WAY. read more

I have been to 2 stores,Rock Hill where the blind machine that cuts blinds was not working, they sent me to the Steele Creek location. I made in total 3 trips to the Rock Hill location to only find out the machine was still not serviced when I was told it would be fixed. So my next trips were to the other location because their machine was working, but had my blinds miscut twice, and then I was told they dont take cut blinds back for returns. When I brought a different blind in to be cut the clerk told me that this particular blind had been previously cut? Hmm mm? That's funny they would not return mine? Also once I got home I found 1 valance was not cut and another 1 missing from my box , it was left behind on their machine. A total of 6 trips back and forth just trying to get 4 faux wood blinds. Associates do not care about potential customers that enter their store, the clerks are not formally trained on the blind cutting machine. Do NOT shop at Home Depot!! It will be a miserable experience. Not enough knowledgeable staff, managers are not any better. No one can answer simple questions. They are NOTa good home store to shop in. But if you need to go their bring your handyman because you will need his expertise to make a successful purchase otherwise you will be wasting your time & money!!!!!​ read more

Overall the prices seemed more reasonable than when we went to Lowe's and had better selection than when we went to Walmart. read more

Home Depot and Lowe's are the same to me. I like both. However, a new dishwasher is needed and today was the perfect day to get one. I called the store and asked for appliances please. Lady said sure and I thanked her. I was put on hold for 13 minutes and 18 seconds. Periodically the phone I guess would ring back to customer service and would be put on hold again. After the 3rd time I was transferred someone picked up the phone and hung up on me. Needless to say HD did not get my business today. I called Lowe's and was immediately transferred to appliances. The lady picked up the phone and told me what they had in stock. Sorry HD, Lowe's got my $650 today. Thank you Lowe's for having enough folks working that could help out a customer. By the way, I was closer to HD and would have made purchase at this location because I was closer to it. Great job Lowe's!!!! read more

WOW, how bad can it get? We were looking to buy a @ Murray Zero Turn Mower and asked to speak with someone...we waited for more than an hour while they contacted someone for us more than 4 times only to be sent someone who indicated he really didn't know anything about mowers. So we asked to see a manager . After waiting for about 20 or so minutes, a manager showed up...she turned out to be a Customer Service Manager according to her tag. I've never heard so many NO's in one ten-minute conversation. She explained that the long waiting times were due to short staffing during the spring . Then she contradicted there Website, several employees and a sign stating FREE DELIVERY. There was a time when managers knew what they were talking about. Retail businesses provided sales staff who were of service to their customers. Today customers are on their own all the way through checkout and sometimes may never see a store employee. And as for managers, it's just a title usually abused by the holder. I won't be shopping at Home Depot Rock Hill again. Oh yes, they lost a $3000 cash sale...NO STARS HERE!! read more

I will be the only one sitting in a spot and wait 15 minutes before I end up calling the store and asking where my pick up is before they actually bring it out. Ordered Levolor Blinds for all windows. No one called to tell us they were on back order. Finally got the installer The WORST blinds ever! About 10 calls to Hone Depot Rock Hill & customer service. Cord consolidators all popping apart, can't adjust middle string and sags in middle like a smiley face, two of them fall back down and won't hold when raising up. Can pull on the tassels or cord consolidators we have been told but if short you can't reach up to pull by the cords! This is a nightmare!! Tonight we were told that special orders can't refund the money. What a crock. We don't want the unusable blinds. Worst experience we have ever encountered! I purchased 3 Rhododendrons which died 60 days later. I attempted to return them in the 90 return policy and was refused my refund. Terrible manager in the garden center. I had the Home Depot proof of purchase receipt, and a printout of the charge from my credit card. I spent 256.73 for plants that died and absolutely no consideration of refund of monies I spent. DISAPPOINTED BIG TIME!! I will never purchase anything from them again. Home Depot has lost 3 customers from their decision not to return my money! I promise, I spend a lot of money in this store. In the long run they will lose more than $256.73. The manager couldn't care less! With the receipt right in front of him, stating exactly what I purchased, He states, "Home Depot does not sell Rhododendrons at that price." If I could give no stars, it would be no stars! We ordered a vanity online in early May. When it came, it was damaged. We had to pack it pack up and take it back. The store ordered another but said it could only be shipped straight to my house, ok. The original date to be delivered was June 1-10th. On the 10th, changed to the 14th. Now everyday since, it says the following day and changes everyday. Home Depot says it shipped, the shipping company says they haven't received it yet. I called to cancel and get a refund, after getting the run around, the store said they wouldn't refund me until it shows up somewhere.....ummm, excuse me? YOU LOST IT! Now I'm 6 weeks without a bathroom vanity and I can't even get a refund of the product nobody knows where is. Corporate was a joke, they said I would have a refund in 5 days. It's been 6 days, no refund, no contact. Today I was told the refund was in process but they didn't know why, and they STILL won't give me a refund. The store manager was unhelpful, nobody knows where it is and apparently they don't really care, it just my problem and it will be resolved when it is resolved. I will not be shopping here again, even this was my go to store for many years. Their customer service is a joke at the store and on a corporate level. I am very surprised by the bad reviews. The store is not the issue, if anything. Yes, Home Depot delivery is contracted out. So maybe it's a hit or miss. I have been using this store for over 20 years. I do not think it is a 2-star store. The people at the store will help you when you ask. Yes, sometimes they are short-staffed. That is the world we live in. I feel they do a good job compared to many of them. I will keep using this Home Depot store, and when I do have an issue they will make it okay in the end, they have always fixed it in the long run. I do find that I have gotten a lot more done with honey than with the whip. read more

I could write a book of honest negative feedback on this store after a kitchen redo. Every single thing that you could think of went wrong and then some. Once they get your payment they don't care at all about you. Good luck getting in Touch with them! Show up to the store having to corner them to get them to talk to you. Home Depot is a joke. We just bought a new washer and dryer last Friday. Were told the washer would be installed when delivered this past Wednesday. The guys who showed up apparently don't even work for Home Depot and they arrived in an Enterprise Rental truck. Told my husband they won't install the washer because they would be liable for anything wrong. I called the number on the delivery email we received, talked to a complete idiot who couldn't even get my phone number correct after telling her 4 times. Was told a manager would call me back. I hung up and called the store we purchased the appliances from and asked to speak to a manager. After having to call back three times because the "manager" that answered pretended she couldn't hear me and hung up on me then being transferred to a voicemail, I finally spoke to someone who told me she would "research" the matter and call me back. Four hours and no phone call later I called customer service and spoke to an extremely nice lady named Donna who gave us a $200 refund. I will never buy another thing from Home Depot. They do not care at all about their customers- except for Donna in the customer service center who is the only person I dealt with so tried to help at all. I have a friend who purchased a refrigerator as well a couple of months ago from Home Depot and was also told it would be installed at delivery. When it arrived, the crew also told them they do not install. The Penske truck rental here is a total nightmare. Don't be in a hurry you will be there a while, you have guys with no knowledge of computers trying to use one to check out trucks. They repair small engines not computer savvy. I believe they need to move Truck Rental to customer service where they know computers and there is always people behind the counter to help. Been here over 30 minutes to check a truck in and no one was in front of us. Please move truck rental to customer service we rent from here very often and no one from our company wants to come here to check one out or to return one. read more

ordered a cooler online at 7am for pickup, and finally had to call them at noon to see if they actually had it in stock. Had to wait on hold for a while before they came back to ask me for an order number. We hung up, and it took another hour before they finally had it ready at 1pm for pick up outside. When I got home and opened the cooler, the 10 inches around the drain plug was black with some kind of moldy residue. I didn't have time to return it, so I just cleaned it with 409. I got most of it off, but there's a gray stain. Very disappointed in Home Depot. I'll go to Lowes' next time even though it's further away. read more

We bought a dishwasher with installation. It took 5 attempts to get it installed. They damaged the cabinet and refused to repair it.

So it's nice when the people being served are able to chit chat about all their home improvement plans but if you yourself need help right away because you know exactly what you want then forget it. Hate these big box stores that should know it's the weekend so staff up. It's a No Brainer. There's my afternoon in this place. Hours in the store just to get 1 thing. Customer service is very lacking at this location and sad to say...it seems to be a Home Depot trend. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to matter what state I'm in (SC, FL, GA) it the same lack of customer service. On this trip I needed to order 7 closet doors. I had a friend who used to walk into Home Depot and yell at the top of her lungs "HELP, CAN I GET SOME HELP OVER HERE!!!" The staff would come running. She did it enough that when they'd see her in the Port St. Lucie store they would come running without her yelling. Basically they wanted to get rid of her or she conditioned them. When I'm made to wait I think about behaving as she did. With a couple homes in different states, my husband and I spend quite a bit in these home improvement stores and they simply need to send their staff back to school for customer service 101. read more

I went to Home Depot to purchase a smoker and the shopping experience was an excellent experience. I was greeted warmly at the entrance and asked if I needed help. I appreciated the offer however I was familiar with the store layout and knew the location of the smokers and grills. I spent about 30 minutes looking at grills and found the smoker / grill I wanted. The price was reasonable and I ended up spending about 50 dollars. While there I picked up some charcoal and a thermostat. It was refreshing to have all the things needed to grill all in one location. The employees had smiles on their face and this added to the environment and shopping experience in a positive way. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for home related supplies read more

I went to the Rock Hill, SC Home Depot today. No employees were wearing masks and employees made no effort to social distance when I needed to ask a question. The check out clerk even suggested we get closer as she "wouldn't bite". When I asked 2 employees why they were not in masks they indicated that it "wasn't mandatory". Janette and Billy were so nice and helpful while I looked for an outdoor dining set. Billy even set up an outdoor umbrella in the table for me so I could make sure it adequately covered the table and chairs. It was so hot but he was so patient. I went here tonight to rent a carpet cleaner after checking online. There was one for rent according to online. I went to the tool rental section and asked to rent the carpet cleaner. There was a guy and woman working. She stated "we ain't got one." I pulled out my phone and said that it shows that one is available from their website. She rudely repeats, "we ain't got one." I've rented a carpet cleaner before at other Home Depot's and know when they scan it out that it doesn't show online anymore. She just looked at me like I was inconveniencing her. She didn't provide if it was just checked out, if they don't have one at all, or when one would be available. If you don't want to help people or do the job that you are paid to do, then don't have a job where you work around the public. One of the rudest people I've met in a long time. I bet they did have one and she didn't feel like helping me. The man at the tool section said nothing at all, which was better than how she acted. There was a young man at a nearby register that acknowledged me and was very nice. Also there was a guy outside that was getting the buggies while he was on his phone in the parking lot, which shows he was paying no attention to the cars driving in the lot. I also walked to a door that I couldn't enter and he said nothing to redirect me to a correct entrance. Besides the man at the register, I would train the employees and just get rid of that woman because she is causing y'all to lose business. We came to Home Depot for lights in our new construction. We knew Home Depot had many options with decent prices, but the shelves weren't stocked and they didn't even offer contractors discounts. We talked to about 6 representatives and 4 of them looked uninterested, they were slow, not helpful and they just passed the task on to someone else. It's been over 2 hours and they just now thought to ask to open a contractors account which won't be very helpful unless we spend over 1,000 dollars. Full disclosure - I'm a Lowe's girl. But when their saw was broken, the fella and I headed to Home Depot to get a 2x4. We were greeted by about 37 different employees the minute we walked through the door, but once we got back to the Lumber department, it was like a ghost town. On the walk to the Lumber department, we passed an employee complaining loudly to another about how busy he was and he wasn't even in his department. Once we figured out what we needed, I went on a 100-mile journey to find someone to help. I ran into the employee who'd been complaining, and he was talking to another employee - I asked the other one. However, he then began to walk away from me grumbling about how he was actually helping someone else and there should be someone in Lumber to help me, but he's not the guy. Um, if there were, would I have left the Lumber department? He was so rude and short, my blood was boiling. Customer service just isn't that difficult. Lesson learned - I'll just wait til Lowe's gets their saw fixed. read more

Big box home improvement in rock hill. The Home Depot has pretty much everything you need in the area of home improvement. The only problem I have is the knowledge of the staff. It's a pot luck finding someone that might be able to answer your question if you have one. On my latest excursion I was in the market for a garage door opener. I wanted to have it installed, which is a device that they advertise. Unfortunately customer service did not know how this was accomplished and directed me back to the door service area. Once I arrived back to that area, this associated also did not know and went to look for someone. He came back after not finding a more knowledgeable associate and made a call. The person on the other line gave him step by step instructions which took quite a while. After he was finished he directed me back to customer service. When I arrived there was only one associate working customer service and quite a line. At this point I was about an hour an a half in and not willing to wait another half hour to see whether or not customer service could help me. So unless you know what your looking for and don't need someone else to install it, I'd steer clear. read more

I frequently buy items from this store and am always disappointed. Most items are way over priced and rarely have any deals. There is never any sales or discounts offered, even to repeat customers, and I am very disappointed with customer service. They can sense when you need them because they start to look 'busy' or hide in the aisles. I made an order online, which was needed asap, and I read that it will be available in as little as '2 hours' but a day later it was still 'processing'. I cancelled the order to only find out that my card wasn't refunded in a timely manner. If i could find lumber elsewhere I would completely stop going to the Home Depot, which is what I am attempting to find now. I may even buy a planer and jointer, from Lowes of course, to be able to bypass them altogether. read more
