But my experience with an employee named John had me feeling like I just met the MVP of hardware! Picture this: me, standing in the middle of the screw aisle, holding a random piece of my DIY archway project, looking as confused as a squirrel in traffic. That aisle is NOT for the faint of heart--so many screws, so little patience. Enter John. Friendly, patient, and clearly a screw connoisseur. He swooped in, measured my piece, and had the perfect screws picked out in no time. He even explained why they were the best fit (because, yes, I was that invested by then). Ms. Dee at this store, and Michelle who was assisting her, redeemed me as a shopper at Home Depot with their excellence in customer service. I purchased a very nice table and chairs online at HD and for weeks I was waiting to get it assembled by the third party company. No one would return my calls, I just kept being told over and over that it was "escalated". This was coming from calling both Home Depot and the third party company AIT Logistics. Finally not knowing what else to do I went into my local store and began talking to these remarkable employees. Ms. Dee immediately got on the phone with the company and made it happen, was able to get me scheduled for early the next week, after weeks of them ignoring me. I had vowed never to purchase from HD again based on this experience, but incredible customer service from just one employee changed my mind and made me a customer again. Thank you, Ms. Dee! I came here to purchase my Christmas tree. I normally purchase it from the Home Depot in Rivergate, but since I was on this side I thought coming here would be a great experience also. Unfortunately that did not happen from the time I arrived to the time I left. Pulling in I was looking for the giant white tent that I'm use to seeing at Rivergate. They did y have one which was fine, their trees were located in the nursery. But if you go at night like I did please be advised that this entire store location in pourly lit. There was no lighting on the signyhat showed that they provided trees at their location. Which is why I did not notice they had trees at al. After parking and walking inside is when I noticed the two trees at the entrance. So I walked out to the nursery area and found the Christmas trees. Unfortunately there was no one out there to greet me or provide any assistance at all. The trees were large and a little difficult to pick up and some hadn't been cut open so I couldn't look at them. After about 10 minutes I de used to try and find someone. No one seemed to be available to assist so I left and now I'm heading 20 minutes away from pineville to Rivergate in hopes that they won't close by the time I arrive as it's 8:22pm. Yes I would rather drive out my way, and to a place where I know I'll be well taken care of. Sad and very unfortunate but true. read more

I wish I could give this place more than a 1 star as I am always in hardware stores! I wrote in the company already about my experience, so I will not go into too much detail here. Overall - staff are unaware of who walks up, they're in their own world. The customer service desk is the go to for issues, questions, information. However, not one person behind the desk knew answers to my questions. I had to call the 800# to customer service "4 times" to get answers, in which I kept getting disconnected, or it was too noisy & I hit the wrong option on my phone. (I think maybe the Home Depot staff should have used the establishments phones to call or even call for a manager) I was in the store a totally of 30 minutes at the desk, trying to get answers about an online order. Many customers waited, & some even left who were tired of waiting. I felt bad for this older woman who kept waiting & finally started to walk away with a sad demeanor. I asked her to hold on & asked the staff if what they were doing required two people, if not can one of them help her; a staff member immediately helped her! Why did she even have to wait? I will be canceling my account with Home Depot! Interesting fact to know that they don't price match there own stores!!! I went to one and They didn't have the product in stock I was looking for, so they called another store 30 minutes from that one and they had six of the same item in stock. When I went to go pick it up it was a $200 difference in price. Spoke to the store manager and she wouldn't match the price, saying they don't compete against other stores in the area!!! Are you kidding me! A big company like this is willing to lose a customer that spends almost $100,000 a year, over $200 price match from their other store. Stopped in here to pick up some stuff for a project. I was very warmly greeted at the door - even though I was staring at my phone (with the list of what I needed). All the Home Depot stores are pretty much organized the same way so I was in and out in no time - more time to get home and start projects! Hello Friends, (Disclaimer) I have been on a serious Planking kick. One of my favorite show (online) is Sam the Cooking Guy. He made a Cedar Plank Salmon that looked outta this world. Sooooo In comes Home Depot. Instead of ordering cedar planks online for 10-34.99 or going to Wally world or the like and buying them for around 15 bucks. Under the direction of Sam, I went to a lumber yard. (well not quite but you get the point). I walked in and straight to the wood sections. Asked the guy for UNTREATED Cedar Wood. Well he pointed me in the direction of A LOT of different wood. I told him what i was trying to do and he in fact told me to go to Wally World. NO THANKS. He pointed me to some Cedar Wood 6ft tall. Well, i picked one up and asked if he could cut thme into 12 inch long "planks". He did so and I was outta there... Total cost for 6feet of Cedar wood cut into 6 twelve inch cuts... = 2.76. So instead of spending 10-35 bucks on 2 -12 inch planks, I spent 2.76 on 6 -12 inch planks. WINNING!!!! (of course i took pictures) read more

I came in to purchase the Milwaukee storage packout set that was on sale previously last week, but I didn't act on it fast enough. Thankfully, Home Depot has price match gurantee, and Northern Tools was selling it for $229 in comparison to Home Depots $309. I asked the associate if he could price match it for me, to which he said research had to be done. I referred back to the Price Match Gurantee policy on their website which stated "Just bring the ad, printout or photo with you to the register for validation. (This may involve the associate contacting the competitor)." but I said okay. He said he thought he would be unable to do it, so the store manager would have to be the one to give approval. I then asked if he would be ok contacting her and he said, no problem! but he didn't think she would allow it. A woman (the store manager) showed up and the associate filled her in, and I then showed her the item I wanted that they had, and the northern tools ad with the price. She then told me she would be unable to do it because Northern Tools was not their competitor. Their competitor would have to be Lowes, or another national retailer. I told her that didn't make any sense because Lowes does not carry Milwaukee Tools so they wouldn't be a competitor, but Northern tools does/are a national retailer. She then looked at me and stayed quiet....I once again showed her the policy to which it states: "If you find a current lower price on an identical, in-stock item from any other retailer, we will match the price." The policy states ANY OTHER RETAILER, it never mentions a specific list... She then tells me again that there is a list of retailers and Northern Tools is not on it. (she never showed me this list/and I could not find it on the website) I tell her this doesnt make any sense, and I'll stand aside and call customer service to explain as their website doesnt state any of this new information shes relaying to me. She goes ahead and walks off and I call customer service. Customer service is incredibly kind, and acknowleges that Northern Tools is a valid competitor and my claim is valid. They proceed to tell me that if I want to buy the item at Northern Tools they understand, but in hopes that they can get my sale they would like to extend a giftcard my way. She asks if there is anything else she can assist me with, and I let her know due to the womens rude and demeaning unprofessional behavior I would like to move forward with a formal complaint... which, she says she already submitted! A few moments later the store manager comes back and says she'll price match the items for me JUST THIS ONCE, although she shouldn't because the items is not in stock in store, only online... I said okay, purchased the item and left. When I got back home, I re-read their Price Match Gurantee policy which states, "Our Price Match Guarantee includes the price of the item(s) plus shipping cost. Price Match items must be available from competitor to ship to customer's location. We will only honor requests submitted directly from the person who made the purchase." Again, another mis-informed answer she gave me. Where does it state the item has to be in stock, in store? This women (store manager) clearly was not familiar with the price match gurantee policy. I showed it to her various times and referred to it numerious times which she did not want to acknowledge. Home depot, do better by staffing your stores with competent and rational managment . How do you expect her to be capable of running a store when she can't follow a policy that is on your website. The excuses and various reasons to not want to work with or help customers, alongside her unprofessionalism is why this location will continue to get poor reviews. Thankfully, your customer service hotline made up for her behavior. read more

I went in to get a new key made. The machine is right along the isle as you pass by. I began using the display and an extremely rude employee berated me for using it saying it "wasn't self service." I said sorry and he wouldn't acknowledge me and said it says it on screen but the past employee didn't time it out. No where did it say it wasn't self service anywhere nearby the console. He proceeded to take our key and copy it to a blank we didn't even request. The employee was unprofessional and rude as he approached and during the process. My husband and I needed a giant brush to clean our RV with, but this was during COVID-19, so this store had tents set up outside their entrance for customers to stand in the shade while they waited 6ft apart and entered the store while Home Depot staff counted how many people were inside. I know Lowe's was doing this same thing to contain the amount of people inside at a time and it was run very smoothly and quickly at this Home Depot location. We asked an employee where the brush would be and he pointed us immediately to where it was. Everything seemed to be stocked and clean. We didn't go around the entire store. The store has signs posted saying masks are required, but when I was shopping there were several men inside without any face coverings. The employees/management did not say anything to those violating the store policy (even at check-out or at customer service where they were being served). I felt unsafe while shopping there. Three associates standing and talking in the appliance section. None are not wearing masks and are blocking the walkway toward the area with dishwashers so I walked around the other way so I would not break the "6 foot rule." I had a question about the dishwashers and so I walked around to where they were standing and asked for help. One young lady gave me very short answers with no attempt to help me find what I was looking for. She finally followed me over to the dishwashers and acted like I was more of a nuisance than a customer. The one dishwasher I was looking at was on back order and she did not even give other recommendations. When she was checking the delivery schedule I stepped closer to see the screen and she pointed at the floor as if I were a dog who had stepped out of line. I was wearing a mask, she was not. And where was the social distancing when she was standing 2 feet from her associates? I'm at Lowes now buying a slightly more expensive dishwasher. read more

Truly one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. We wanted to rent an item. We paid the deposit online. The next day, one hour before pick up, I get a text that my reservation has been cancelled with no explanation. After calling, we find that someone came in person and picked up the machine. So basically, their reservation system is not a reservation system at all. You pay a deposit for the pleasure of MAYBE getting your item. We called, explaining the situation, and a manager, Rich was kind enough to waive the rental fee and they agreed to hold the item the next day. We go the next day, and Home Depot wanted a second deposit fee for the item. Absolutely not. So I have to pay two deposits for an item when Home Depot was the one that cancelled the first one? Additionally, the rental item was only $20 and they wanted $100 in deposit money. When we explained this, looking for help, the man at the rental center, Dave, was rude, stating "Do you know how reservations work?" Well, Dave, we know how reservations work in the real world, not whatever Home Depot calls a reservation. Suffice to say, I've given Home Depot thousands over the years, but will now go to Lowes for my needs. Home Depot - learn what a reservation is. If you want to do first come, first serve do that, but do not give people the options of reservations when they will not be honored. read more

Absolutely terrible. Stood at the tool rental desk for over an hour with my kid while these two employees back there, who clearly had no idea what they were doing, kept messing up my warranty return. They were supposed to refund my deposit, but couldn't figure out how to do it. Told them I needed to leave soon, and asked 4 time if they needed to call someone. They just ignored me and kept fumbling over the situation. They were both getting extremely aggravated and began taking it out on me. They told me to just leave and come back some other time to get my deposit because they can't figure it out. We got into a heated exchange where both Home Depot employees were yelling at me in front of other customers and my kid. Finally they get a manager back there and he can't even figure it out. When I asked him to have a word around the corner, one of the employees followed us menacingly. The manager had to yell at her to go back to her station. What in the world is wrong with this store? It's not the first time I've had an absolutely bonkers interaction with a store employee here. Probably never shopping home depot again. read more

Thank You Home Depot and Behr for reminding me why I should have chosen Lowes and Valspar. Today After buyng Behr with PRIMER, I am taking a break before putting my 3RD coat of paint. I do not understand why it takes 3 coats with primer to cover up a White wall. I painted my living room, hall way, bathrooms, and dining room with Valspar and primer and it only took 1 coat. I was at Home Depot on 4/27/2013 at 10:56 am. It was not busy yet. I was there to purchase a Steel Pergolia. I came into the store past a greeter and went directly over to the pergolia, there was also an elderly couple that was sitting in the wicker furniture waiting for help. I waited for about 10 minutes, then walked up to the greeter and asked if she knew how to get me some help. She said she would call, which she did. I then continued to wait another 15 minutes. So now we have two customers waiting a total of about 30 mnutes with no help. No one asked why they were sitting there, or why I was standing in front of the pergolia. Finally, I told the other couple I was leaving and going to Lowes . I then walked past the greeter who stopped me and asked if I hadn't been helped, to which I replied no, I was done waiting and going to Lowe's.Now she could see me wating , along with the women standing at the return desk. I ASK YOU--- WHERE HAS CUSTOMER SERVICE GONE. the greeter called again to get me help , imploring me not to leave. I explained that the couple waiting to purchase the wicker patio set had been waiting longer than I had. Finally, after about 35 to 40 minutes after walking into the store, I finally walked out with the Pergolia. I don't know about you --but I could have left taking my $427.00 to Lowes and the couple with the patio set could have taken their $700 somewhere else CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HOW BUSINESSES STAY IN BUSINESS. THATS WHAT EMPLOYEES ARE TO BE TRAINED TO BE ABOUT. IF CUSTOMERS DID NOT WALK IN YOUR DOORS, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE A JOB!
