I went in looking for a drain snake that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. I actually found what I needed in a short amount of time. Unfortunately, that meant that I had plenty of time to look around the store for everything that I didn't need. Don't give them your email address. Oops. I went in here with the intent of browsing for a short list of things were nice to have. And I left with over $200 worth of things that I didn't know that I desperately needed. I had to go back outside to get a shopping cart because the fire extinguisher and the ratchet set were too heavy to lug around the store while I found work gloves and an adjustable wrench and a big tarpaulin (camouflage, of course!) and a hand crank flashlight and yes, while I am here, I really do need a $5 machete. Decently reliable, mostly made in China, incredibly cheap tools. Forego a visit to Lowe's and stop by here instead. If you've heard of Northern Tool forego them too. Harbor Freight is like a cheaper version of them. You've really got it all here. From screwdrivers to wrenches to drills, torches, pressure washer, air compressors and a thousand other things I'm forgetting. That doesn't even account for the hardware you can get. At this particular location the service has been fantastic. They're right next door to one of my favorite stores which is another bonus. The prices will range anywhere from 25% to 75% of the same exact item at Lowe's for example. Which is absurd considering the quality is very similar and both are probably made in the same place. The only difference will be the brand labeling. Which, let's face it, when it comes to tools I'm buying it for the functionality not to show the brand off to my friends. read more

This is my husband's new favorite store! He loves getting tools from here. They have good prices and my husband hasn't complained with any issues. Staff is friendly and the store is organized. My only complaint is the smell. I know they can't help that but the strong tire smell kills my nose. read more

I do not think you can have GOOD, CHEAP tools, but you can have cheap tools at a good price, therefore it is a good cheap tool by default. This store has somehow captured one of my obsessive compulsive habits. Deals, Coupons, and somehow luring me in for things that I may need just once, maybe. What I like about this place is that you can always find good values here.....sure its made in China, but hey, if I use it just ONCE, then it has served its purpose. I am not sure that I would buy a generator here, or anything that my life may depend on, but for a one time job, or for those who need a few tools to get started to earn money to buy real tools, then this is the place. I have found that this place can be addictive, search for the sales, be patient, then use that almighty 20% off coupon in the paper and automotive magazines, and it keeps bringing you back. I have found myself stopping by here twice a day sometimes....( I may need to seek professional help for that), but believe me, this place is worth the visit. Need a coupon, just hit me up....... If you are a weekend warrior that won't be using that jigsaw, sledge-hammer, or socket-set on a daily basis, then this is the place for you! The quality is better than you would expect, especially considering the drastic cost difference compared to the big name tools you see at Lowe's or Home Depot. They have a lifetime guarantee on tools - but at the cost who really cares? The main tools that I use from here are my $5 socket set that I actually use on a regular basis. My orbital sander has seen a half-dozen uses. Blades and drill bits are cheap here - and for wear items that's what you want. my table-saw blade works just as well as the $15 counterpart. What I like is that I can get odd-ball tools that I need for a single project now, and might or might-not need again (like fish tape or angle an grinder). I end up lending stuff to neighbors who thought you had to spend a bunch of money to get the right tool for the job. Now mind you, I still own a porter cable drill as I found the Harbor Freight ones a little cheap. But my dremmel, orbital and oscillating sander, and hammer drill are all harbor freight brand. The other nice thing is the coupons - %20-25 of your purchase is fairly normal - and that $5 socket set got me an electric fly swatter with a coupon - and the pure joy I receive from eliminating those flying pests was so contagious that my neighbor got on as well. read more

Harbor Freight Tools is just one of those places you have to visit. The true man store filled with tools and gadgets on the cheap. Make sure you sign up for the email and mail club, there are plenty of sales and coupons for you to save even more pennies. Store is in good repair and most of the employees are helpful. Good place to get some low priced tools. I always come to harbor freight to get a well price specialty tool. Since I'm not a full time contractor/mechanic/construction worker I don't normally need equipment that will last 1000's of cycles. I have purchased a welder, air conditioner manifold, drill bits, and wrenches and have been happy with all of them. Always check the flyers online before making a purchase. Yep it's cheap tools, Yep if ya get the power tools your gonna be disappointed. I buy things like Crowbars, axes, tools i won't use often from here or ones that like the crowbars, axes etc. that i'm going to be pounding on demolition projects. I wouldn't buy anything with many moving parts or that your going to use often because yes it's true "You get what you pay for". Good deals on Tarps too. Great coupons and pefect if you want to just put some basic tools in secondary toolbox or place to have around without spending a lot. IMO, don't buy drill bits or driver bits either....they strip and break with ease. Way to cheap especial on masonry or metal works. Still how do you make a profit on a Sledge hammer that you make and ship from China and sell here for $7.99? read more
