I'm not usually a huge ice cream person, but it felt like the perfect way to honor her. The shop itself was bright, clean, and welcoming, with several people already enjoying their treats. We grabbed a high table by the front window, which made for some great people-watching while we indulged. The menu immediately caught my eye. The range of flavors wasn't just broad--it was creative, unique, and full of options you don't see every day. That foodie spark kicked in, and I knew I had to go with a flight so I could taste a few. (Brilliant idea, by the way--four little cups of different flavors!) Our picks were: Grilled Lime Burnt Honey Crunchy PB Jelly Espresso Mascarpone Lemon Biscotti Brown Butter Pecan & Praline Each scoop came with a color-changing spoon (such a fun touch), and every flavor was creamy, consistent in texture, and absolutely delicious. My favorites were a tie between the Espresso Mascarpone (though I think it could stand strong without the lemon biscotti) and the Brown Butter Pecan & Praline. The Grilled Lime Burnt Honey was bright and unique, and the Crunchy PB Jelly was tasty but leaned a bit sweet for me. Overall, this was some of the best ice cream I've had--flavorful, high-quality, and true to its name. Add in the kind, helpful staff and the clean, cozy atmosphere, and it made for a really special stop. I left not just with a happy palate, but also with a new tradition: every year on August 22, I'll seek out a new ice cream spot in honor of my grandma. Amy & Alex's was the perfect place to start.

We were seated right away and the waiter took our order relatively quickly, then bately checked back in. I ordered a cup a soup to come out before my sandwhich.....it did not arrive at all. No apology when I told the waiter. We were seated by a large window that was extremely drafty, so much so we had to put our coats back on Sandwhiches were good, though nothing special. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Street/Meter Parking. We have heard great things about the spot, undecided if we will give them another chance. When you are as busy as this place is, having one of three bar tenders as your server makes for a long wait for everything. We started with the crab pretzel - omg the amount of salt was horrid, I have had better dip at dive bars. We ended going somewhere else for dinner, the wait here was ridiculous! Ambiance, a little loud but it looks very nice.

And if you notice on street view of the older location, it was most likely because of a competitor coming in right next door and building a brand new store. So they decided to close this location, move up the road, and build a bigger store. I was in need of getting out of the DC Metro area and I find it best to do my shopping this way. I am almost guaranteed to find what I want and be surprised at the same time. That is basically what happened when I was heading to my destination when I came upon this Sheetz. My visits to Sheetz have dwindled in recent days without having immediate access to several of them within minutes of me. I am sure they will remedy this soon enough with the way the expand, but for now, I have to hope I stumble upon their locations when out venturing. When I saw the familiar red awning I had to stop. Mostly because I had been in my vehicle for quite some time. I was in need of stretching my legs, getting some air, and using the facilities. With this being a newer location I was able to find a spot close to one of the entrances and away from the pumps. You can read that as ample parking. Inside is a spacious place to do your thing and roam about the store. Facilities were clean and up to date. Snackage was ample, sweet tea was abundant. I did my thing here and was definitely able to refresh myself for the remainder of my trip. Sweet tea in hand I headed outside to take in some cool air and stretch these legs a bit more. Entry to this location is easier than most. With the traffic signal it makes it safer to continue on the road.
