My family and I ate here on our drive back to DFW. We were greeted immediately upon entering. There is a good amount of seating. Very clean place with a casually rustic atmosphere. Love this little gem in tiny Memphis Texas. We had a party of 13 and we got great and fast service. Our waitress was funny and somehow managed to get all of our orders correct even though we were all talking the entire time. We were there with relatives who live in the area so they told us that the steak fingers were amazing. Almost our entire party ordered the steak fingers. They were awesome. I highly recommend them. They also have lots of other choices that looked equally good. They have breakfast available all day. I actually had eggs, sausage patties, toast and hash browns. It was all good. I tasted the steak fingers that my husband ordered. Someone else had ordered an appetizer of onion rings. They were made fresh at the restaurant and were crisp and delicious It had a casual atmosphere which was really nice. We stayed for a couple hours just visiting and had a great time. It was a bit cold in the restaurant, which isn't good for the metal seats that they have but overall a good experience. The food was good, a bit oily but good. I usually order Chicken Fried Steak to go. There are 2 steaks included, so there is one for breakfast or dinner the next day. They are very good. My only complaint is they forget to put in some items. If you plan on eating at the motel, make sure they put in plastic silverware, salad dressing, ketchup, etc. For some reason these are not added to the "to go" orders I have gotten. Sometimes the condiments for the baked potato are included, sometimes they aren't. The pie is always delicious, no matter what kind I've chosen. I recommend it. read more

Ok, let me tell you that blindly not knowing the menu, driving from Wyoming to East Texas, headed your my moms. We decided to order takeout. It's Covid-19 precautionary measures. I settled on the steak fingers, no salad and onion rings instead of fries. Husband wanted two grill cheese sandwiches, comes with chips. So we got everything as ordered. The lady taking my Order was so nice and helpful knowing I had no clue how it works. Everything was hot (heat) and fresh. The steak fingers for me were the best I have ever had. I was shocked at how tender. I literally could tear off a bite with my fingers or with my teeth. Tender like bitter and the gravy on the side was perfect. Was so happy to stumble upon this fun stop. It definitely had a Western, almost Cracker Barrel feel. The service was so kind. We went right at noon and it was extremely busy, so service was a little slow. But understandable. I ordered the Swiss Mushroom Burger and loved it. We were passing through and decided to stop for lunch. It was a nice cafe and we all enjoyed our meal. After eating out while on cacation all week by MIL got a salad. She said the chicken in the salad and the best flavor and the ranch tasted homemade. My husband had the steak fingers Ann's thought they were good and that the gravy was fantastic. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It was ok. I personally don't like sweet BBQ sauce which is what they had. Maybe we came on a bad night, I have no idea. We waited a little over an hour for our food. Our appetizer came with our meal. They seemed under staffed of waiters, only 2 working. My husband's food (BBQ Sausage Platter) came to our table cold to the touch. I had to go find our waitress for a refill. When I did find her she was gossiping with the other waitress, while there was about 5 tables that needed to be bussed. There was also a fly problem, you had to keep swatting them away from your food. I would give a 1 star but the owner came out and discounted my husband's food off our bill. read more

The pancakes were so fresh and airy they soaked up the syrup, and the over easy eggs were cooked to perfection! Husband had the chicken fried steak with fries and thoroughly enjoyed it! The burgers were barely thicker than the cheese and the fries were swimming in oil. Our 2 side salads combined would have been considered 1 side salad at most restaurants. Never asked if we needed anything and the food took 40 mins for lunch. Also the onion rings came cold and the club sandwich was the worse we've ever had: Mostly bread. Driving back from Vegas we finally hit Texas, so we decide to stop for a bite of good old country cooking. The Rock Inn is brand new and still has that new car smell to it. We were greeted and seated right away. The menu has a great selection, and there was a buffet. We order off the menu, I got the chicken fried steak sandwich on garlic toast and add a scrambled egg on top. I took my first bite and my response was "Oh My GOD, Yessss!" My husband turn to look to who I was cheating on him with. Lol He had coffee, which he said was really good, and chili burger. Which was also very good. There was so much on the menu that I wanted it was hard to choose. The service was great, and friendly. Miss Debbie was there greeting all the after Church crowd and personally walking them to there tables. She came around to say hello to us just as if we were one of the neighbor folk too. We stopped in this little town on the way to a mission trip in Cactus, TX. This was actually our last resort when it came to food, because unexplainably, all the other restaurants in the town were closed (during open hours!). So we stopped in to the Rock Inn Cafe! When we walked in, we had a group of 9, so we were escorted to a small room. Apparently, it was a smoking room, because there were cigarette holders in there. None of us were smokers, and aren't used to that being from Houston, so that was a little offsetting. But then someone down the hall started smoking, and thankfully we could close the door to block off the smoke invasion. Now, I'm the kind of guy that sees something cool or out of the ordinary, and I'm going to order it. I expect there to be a reason for it to make it to the menu! Two of the items I ordered were the grilled honeybun and the hot-sauce chicken fingers. Surprisingly to me, the grilled honeybun tasted like... a honeybun. It was barely warm, nothing was special about it, other than I paid far too much for it. The hot sauce chicken fingers were okay, but they weren't spectacular or spicy. The rest of the food we ordered was along the same token. Good, not great, and nothing noteworthy. If I was driving through again, I'd try to stop at another location, but if I had to come back here, I could live with it! read more

This is the first review I've ever done. That's how bad it was. As soon as we got in, I took my kids to the restroom as we are on a road trip to Utah. Server was taking our drink orders at the bathroom door. I should've known it was gonna be an experience at that point. My wife said down for maybe one minute and then Server came over and asked if we knew what we wanted to order. The whole time I felt extremely rushed. It was still an hour before closing. The food came out and wasn't half bad, actually it was OK. But then the horrible service continued. My water wasn't refilled until my plate was clean. I didn't see my Server the whole time I ate. Not one time did she ask me how my food was. It was as if we didn't exist. At the end when I paid my bill the lady checking me out so my tip amount was maybe 15%. And she literally said oh wow. I asked was there And issue. She said no. Hello if you want a better tip you get a server you get servic and issue. She said no. Hello if you want a better tip you give good service. That's what TIPS stands for, To Insure Proper Service. If the owner sees this message, I highly recommend re-training your staff. I don't even know my servers name, but she was Hispanic looking. They were running around the restaurant and everything but attending Us nor the two other tables that were in the restaurant. read more
