Best restaurant on the Big Island! Service is exceptional and consistent and while on the island we frequented...frequently! No regrets! I cannot give enough stars to this place. I trust their fast service so much that we actually ate their on our way to the airport and there are not many restaurants in the world that I would do that at! The place is so clean and well decorated. The food is delicious! Different spice levels. Coke products and full bar. The shellfish isn't the only scrumptious menu item, the potatoes and corn on the cob in the boil are perfect. It's a great experience because everyone's keeping busy cracking crabs and enjoying the great atmosphere. They bring bib, gloves, scissors, crackers (one suggestion is that they add crab picks).

The server was very nice as were the staff but I'm giving 3 stars due to the food quality. I came with my friend and her parents for one of their birthdays and we spent a lot of money on food that was ok at best. The fried rice was decent but the other stuff wasn't. The coconut shrimp was very bland and oily, the scallops tasted like mystery meat with fish flavoring, the salad was very odd, and the sauces they provided made no sense. The prices also didn't match the amount of food for the coconut shrimp and fried scallops. I just expected better quality food for the price.

Staff is attentive and friendly. There is a bar inside and plenty of seating for larger parties/families. I think the snow crab is amazing here. Cooked perfectly. I do think the seasoning could be a bit better because a lot of it is butter. Can't go wrong with a margarita or beer, but not too keen on the rest of the cocktails.

The ambiance was great, relaxed and perfect for a casual night out. The real highlight, though, was the service. Our server was super friendly, and when one of my friends accidentally left his card behind, the server ran out in the rain to return it to us at the car. That kind of above-and-beyond service really stuck with us. Definitely planning to come back. Big portions, tasty seafood, and amazing customer care.

First time to this business and noted that the service and staff were incredibly efficient and polite from the start. I've had seafood boils at Kickin' Kajun, Boiling Crab, and homemade, but I have to say it's all about the combination. Shared a rockstar boil with a friend, which came with 2 lobster tails, 3 snow crab clusters, a pound of shrimp, crawfish, corn & tatoes (broccoli came with the boil too, but we asked for that on the side). Also added sausage, which was a good call. We chose garlic butter as the sauce with medium spice. Buggah was 'ono and could have fed three people easily! I like that they provide gloves so your hands don't get too saucy. My favorite was the crawfish, it's always so fun to eat! Will definitely go back when I have the appetite and courage to throw down $80+ for a meal (it was $160 for this particular boil).

Just an FYI -- if you happen to walk into this restaurant at the same time as people you know, even if you sit at completely different tables and have separate tabs, they'll still automatically charge an 18% gratuity on every check. They do state on the menu that an 18% gratuity will be added for groups of 5 or more, but we honestly didn't think that applied to us since we were seated at different tables with separate tabs. When I spoke to the manager about it, the responses were short, repetitive, and pretty snarky. Her explanation was: "Because you walked in as one group, were sat in the same section, and were served by the same server." $50 tip for bare minimum service. We paid our bill and left -- never coming back. read more

Food is good. However do not go an hour before closing. They don't tell you but once they "close" at 3pm you are no longer allowed to order drinks or add on to your order. Eating an almost $500 meal in the middle of a Saturday afternoon, no more drinks. We asked for the manager to come to our table, the manager declined the server's request and never came to our table. 1) not letting guests know it's "last call", 2) letting your server take all the guff and frustration for management's decision 3) the manager not visiting the guests table once requested 4) thinking it's just 1 table who cares? That kind of management will lose customers 1 table at a time because EVERY TABLE MATTERS. Not only all of this but when I emailed the company they didn't even care to respond. So disappointing. Very very poor management. read more

Yesterday we went to this restaurant. We ordered the fried scallops but THEY ARE FAKE. I could tell they added fake fish flavoring since I eat scallops often. It was also $18 for 6, so I expected better quality. I need them to be honest about what they are serving, it felt very scammy. read more

The food was reasonable for a Hawaii restaurant. We had the Sunshine Special for $50.99. It tasted very good--kind of a blend of the crab, shrimp and lobster flavoring the corn and potato and each other, but that is what a seafood boil is all about. There was a cold-water lobster tail, about 8-10 large shrimp and 2 nice-sized crab segments, so lots of protein. We were not happy about the whole meal being cooked or heated in a giant plastic bag. The fries were good. Service was excellent and we would have gotten the plain butter that the garlic flavored product. Our server was very responsive and checked in with us several times. Ambiance was nice, but casual. Bathroom was very clean. read more

Went here for lunch on Valentine's Day for the first time and fell in love. We will be back. Had Cajun fries, 1lb snow crab, 1lb shrimp and added sausage to share. I went here with a friend and can say we were not disappointed and left with a happy stomach. It was so good you know we had to unzip after we finished. The service was top notch and they were very efficient in checking in on us and making sure we were given enough napkins, water, etc. I'm from Hilo and we don't have a seafood boil place so I can say my cravings were very satisfied and I would make the drive over in a heartbeat to eat this again. The amount of food they gave was plenty and can easily serve up to 3 people. We couldn't waste anything so the 2 of us had to stuff our faces. Though it's on the pricier side as you're spending roughly $70-100 depending on what you get it's well worth it. I love this place and you should check them out. read more

Decided to try this place out today and so glad we did! The restaurant is decorated so cute and perfect for a cajun seafood place. Three of us got the shrimp and one got the fried catfish platter. Everything was super delicious and the food came out quickly and hot and fresh! Zach was our server and he was top notch with the service! We couldn't have asked for more! Friendly, smiling and on point! This will not be our last visit to Rock n crab!!!!!! We even told Zach that we were celebrating Gary's birthday and got this treat!!! We will go back and try the seafood boil next time! We highly recommend this place! The prices are reasonable for Kona too! read more

This place is so good it's so underrated. Best seafood on the big island. Prices are so worth every bite. They always have a "sunshine special" and it's $50 bucks, for 2/3 people. Love it! The service is always respectful and friendly, they are constantly checking on you. The inside of the restaurant is super cool and the decor is interesting. The set up and service of food is great! love this place, I'm always here every month lol! read more

No local seafood. Everything is shipped in (re-constituted frozen food) you would think by going to a seafood restaurant 2 blocks from the ocean, that you would find local seafood, nope. No it makes sense why their prices are so high (shipping and handling fees) probably more now with the tariffs. read more

very bad experience. We have to wait 1hour to get the food and the waiter didn't show up to explain. We want to pay 15%tips because we are not satisfied at all but the owner insist that we pay 18%. We have to argue for about 30 minutes and one of the staff said abusive words which makes us insulted.Never ever will go there again.recommend you won't read more

We were here with a large group of people, and service was fantastic. Our server was efficient, friendly and considerate. He made our group meal easier to deal with. Food was alright, my shrimp po boy was good but I'd try something else next time. My friend who came here couple times so they knew to order the shrimp boil with sauce separately, as it could be very oily, soupy and messy. They provide plastic bib and gloves and tons of paper napkins to clean your fingers afterward. Tons of parking spots as it is situated in the shopping center. read more

Not sure if our standards were too high coming from SoCal where we have many good establishments like this but this place was just ok. The sauce was too buttery/liquidy and a tad bland with very little garlic. Each lb came with corn and potato but we ordered 3lbs and only got 2 corn so the math wasn't mathing. Added the sausage but it had a very peculiar taste. Again, our standards were probably just too high? read more

We went on Saturday for a pre concert dinner with friends. Friendly efficient service. They have a full bar so it would be nice to add that to their website. The decor is great. The shop itself was observed to be clean and well put. It was on a weekend morning and therefore we observed few patrons ordering their preference of cup of Joe and occasionally some will order with food. Whatever you order, do not get the chocolate chip cookies. It tasted like some sort of detergent and hardly any chocolate chips. The coffee was hot but the cup disintegrated shortly after we left the shop. It fell apart inside the rental car.

Especially when we thought we saw portobello fries online as an option from perhaps a different Kona Brewery restaurant menu. Our food orders included Kohala pizza, poke bowl, fish taco, and a cheeseburger. We wanted to grab a can of one of the IPAs to-go at the Growler Shack outside but they don't sell singles.

An important note, the shopping center offers validated parking. We didn't know that before hand, and ended up paying over $40 to park for three hours, a few blocks down the road. It's a great place, I highly recommend it! We're definitely coming back however, it's not an inexpensive, but it's Hawaii!

Service is exactly what you'd expect from Four Seasons, top tier, attentive, and smooth without being over the top. Also a great spot if you're vegetarian or dining with someone who is. They actually have real options, not just afterthoughts. They'll occasionally have a show with fire dancers which adds to the experience. Service is 3.5, we had to consistently hail the server, including asking for the check. I would think they would want to turn tables, there were people waiting for a table. Minor issue, it was pretty warm inside the restaurant. But I would definitely go back and try the other food on their menu.

They have 2 long picnic tables right outside to sit, but other than that it'll likely be takeout. The parking lot is very compact with a 15min time limit. Not sure how strict they are about the 15min limit, but just be courteous so others can also park and enjoy the food! There was already a line when we arrived, so I recommend getting there early. Their poké also tasted so fresh! Their portions are smaller and prices are higher for the amount you get compared to other poké places... but for sure it is quality over quantity here. I'm OK with that. I'm not a huge ahi poké gal, but they didn't have salmon so I just got it with the garlic shrimp. But everything was so delicious! The seaweed salad, imitation crab salad, kimchi, and kimchi mussels were all good. Fairly simple to order: bowl vs plate (1 side for bowl and 2 sides for plate, 2 servings of poké). Brown vs white rice. Top shelf: sides. Bottom shelf: poké. They also offer a variety of sauces for your poké. They are all pretty good, but my favorite was the avocado aioli. The wet Hawaiian and Pele's kiss were also good per family. Definitely worth trying and repeating. Personally, I prefer this poké place over Pau Hana Poké. Service was nothing spectacular, just efficient and busy. No small talks here.

To summarize the experience the food tasted as delicious as it looked. Service was spot on. Skip the barbecue chicken tacos they were overrated. Our server warned against it but we were feeling chicken. It was a mid dish. The star of the show was the Calabrese Flatbread. It was phenomenal. Really tasty, ample cheese, marinara sauce, with large chunks of sausage that were so flavorful. The potatoes we got were supposed to be island potatoes and tasted okay with lots of Chimmichuri Sauce. Ask for more on the side to dip the potatoes in. Kona beer on tap, Michelob in bottles, and some nice house drinks to round it off. Their dessert selection looked tasty, but so full that stomach was hurting after the meal. Rockin' Crab - More Like Rockin' Disappointment I was really looking forward to a great seafood meal, but unfortunately, Rockin' Crab fell flat in almost every way. We ordered the King Crab with butter at market price, expecting something fresh and flavorful. Instead, the crab was incredibly dry, and the portion was laughable--just one small red potato and a soggy, overcooked corn on the cob. We also tried the special with crab, lobster, and shrimp, but it was just more of the same disappointment. The crab legs were nearly empty, the lobster was dry, and while the shrimp were decent, they weren't properly cleaned. The only saving grace of the meal? The Rockin' Sauce. It was delicious, but unfortunately, great sauce can't make up for subpar seafood. Even the appetizers were a letdown--mozzarella sticks that were just okay--and they didn't even arrive at the right time. Our appetizers came after the main course, and to top it off, one person at our table got their food five minutes before the rest. The service was just as bad as the food--we barely saw our server, had to go up and ask for our check, and then had someone else run our card. This is a seafood restaurant. Do not expect to order spaghetti or frog legs. That said, this is top of my list for selection, quality, price, and service. Clams, Oysters (Steamed or Raw), Mussels, Calamari. Shrimp (Fried, Coconut, or *mmm* in a "Boil"), Scallops, Lobster, Crabs (Snow, King, or Dungeness), Catfish Sliders, or a Fried Fish Po Boy are all available! Salads include Caesar, Shrimp, Crabmeat, or Fried Chitticken Tender. (Spelled correctly!) Appetizers (totally unnecessary for small groups) include Onion Rings or Mozzarella Sticks, among others. Totally thrilled we decided to try Rock'n Crab today! The place has that perfect cajun vibe, super cute and fitting. We dove into the shrimp and fried catfish platter - both absolutely scrumptious and served piping hot. Big shoutout to Zach, our server, who made the experience even better with his top-notch service, always with a smile! Celebrated Gary's birthday too and got a sweet treat on the house. Rock'n Crab in Kona is a must-try! From the moment I walked in, the staff was super friendly and welcoming. The vibe is great, and the service is fast. I had the seafood boil with garlic butter sauce, medium spice--seriously tasty! It came with lobster tails, snow crab clusters, shrimp, crawfish, and all the sides. HEADS UP THEY CLOSE AT 830 pm!!! I would have loved to have reviewed this restaurant but we arrived at 9 as their hours are till 10pm and they said no we're closed our last service was at 830pm. on a Saturday! Will never want to try them again with no aloha! read more
