Do not under any circumstance go into this facility and expect to get a HEALTHY cat or dog. I unfortunately, without knowing what kind of horrific and negligent agency that they are, "adopted" two kittens at a price of $450 EACH, that did not get along with each other AT ALL, and the agency did not mention a thing about it. Interesting fact that when I arrived pick them up, I had a very large carrier and the person running the operation, James, a very unscrupulous man, put the cats in two separate carriers and gave me one because he knew that they would not make it in one carrier but yet he did not tell me a thing. Oh, they need more room is what he said When I took them to the vet for their "healthy check ups" much to my shock and dismay my vet found an overwhelming amount of ear mites that were ALIVE running around in their ears and required expensive treatment for one week around the clock twice a day. This is absolutely outrageous.. and EGREGIOUS However, wait it gets better... I have one cat that has liquid diarrhea! And whatever One has I'm sure they both have so now I'm into a fecal sample for both cats at $85 a pop! Waiting to hear what kind of lovely creatures they came home to me with Not to mention, I have a dog so whatever they have he's going to catch. Isn't this a lovely scenario wouldn't anybody want this for themselves? I think not this agency needs to be shut down immediately. I called them up. I spoke to someone named James who is the most miserly, unaccomplished person I could ever imagine that I had to speak with and demanded my money back. You know what he said? "You get nothing" I told him unfortunately, then I would see him in court. This is non-negotiable. This company is despicable stay away at all costs.! read more

The owner of Rock'n Rescue is coocoo-bananas and she's doing a major disservice to animals everywhere that need good, loving homes. I live in an all-vegan, dual income home in a very nice area. We couldn't have kids so we treat our own cat like our only child. We thought he'd like a friend so we filled out an application with RnR thinking it would be nice to adopt a cat in need and support a local business at the same time. Unlike many people we were requested any special-needs adult or senior cats with health problems. The application asked "would you like an indoor, outdoor, indoor/outdoor, or barn cat?" We put "indoor/outdoor". The owner Juli contacted me and asked "how do you plan on training your new cat to be outdoors?" I explained exactly how we did it with our other cat... gradually, safely, over time, with a GPS etc etc. The next email I received in all-caps: "None of our cats are allowed to be outdoor cats! Good luck with your search." If that is indeed the case then why did the application ask if we'd like an outdoor cat? Why did she ask me how I'd train it to go outddors? Nowhere on the website did it state that RnR cats were not allowed outdoors. But it gets better... she then sends me an email saying what a bad cat-dad I am for letting my own cat play outside etc etc. and that I shouldn't do that. Needless to say, this seems not only like baiting and fraud, but also insane behavior for a business owner. But mainly I feel bad that the neglected cat, in need of love, who is currently sitting in a rescue pound because this lady is crazy. We would have been the perfect home. read more

We found an adorable puppy on petfinder. Our lovely Lucy was among the adoptable pets from Rock N Rescue. Julie, along with her team of adoption coordinators, care givers and foster families are so incredibly caring, professional and accomodative. Our application was reviewed, our references checked promptly and the fostering mom was just the best, providing attention and love to our new baby. I just could not have had a more pleasant experience with Rock N Rescue. I made inquiries on other pets but received no response from most of the other rescue organizations. This place is a glorified kitty mill. They drive down south and get all the homeless kittens and cats in GA and KY and then sell them up here for $300 plus dollars. They place them in foster care, who do all the work of getting them vet checked etc FOR FREE, until they are ready to be adopted and then they are brought to the store where they are purchased. Which I would be fine with IF THE KITTEN IS HEALTHY. I originally went there and met two kittens, one of which growled at my son. So I didn't think it was a good fit. We then went back a few months later and met another kitten. It was very skinny, but they assured me he was healthy and has been dewormed and UTD on shots etc. Within 2 hours of having him, he was crying non-stop even while I was petting and cuddling him as if he was very uncomfortable and going to the bathroom blood. None of this is normal, I immediately texted the place and they told me I could bring him back in. I brought him in because I was very worried. Immediately the man at the storefront became defensive and said "HE IS FINE! It is normal for a kitten to go to the bathroom blood and cry when in a new home." Now I am even more scared because this man thinks this sick kitten is fine and probably won't get him the help he needs. I ask for my money back, he says no. I ask for the kitten back, so I can bring him to ER, he says no. He then proceeds to walk into me (my son saw this as well) to the point I needed to quickly move to the side at which point I say I am calling the police. The man yells, "If you call the police, I will put you on a do not adopt list!" I tell him I will not adopt from him again. He then yells, "No where! You will not be allowed to adopt anywhere ever again!" Police come, and he tells the officer that I adopted 2 kittens before and brought them back because I said they are evil. LIE. I came and did a meet and greet, with twin kittens, one of which growled at my son at which point I said jokingly, "I guess she's the evil twin". I never took those kittens home, they were not a fit for us. This man is a liar. I will be taking him to small claims court and I have reported him to my Vet (who never even heard of them BTW). Most vets in our area know of the rescues and shelters in the area). Now I am just devastated that I made the wrong decision to bring that poor sick kitty back to the wrong hands. I trusted them. I thought they would help. This place is nothing but a money making kitten mill. Also, the police officer saw the mess that the kitten left in my carrier and advised me to take pictures as it is not normal. My husband and I have adopted our fur babies from rescues over the past 12 years. Coal is our fourth dog and we adopted him from Rock 'N Rescue. The the three previous Rescue's that we adopted from were all good but did not encourage contact after the adoption. I always felt as if the adoption had an issue that the rescue would not help. When we found Coal on Pet finder I filled out an application and the process for adoption was so smooth. After the Vet check and reference check I spoke in length with Julie and we were thrilled that we were accepted to choose a puppy. Juli started a group text that her team members are on and I was told if i ever had any questions or concerns to please address the group chat and someone on her team would help and they have. They also like pics and updates and they post them on their facebook group. Juli also made a group of all the adopters of the litter of puppies. It is great to see how all the puppies are doing. Coal is very healthy and one of the most beautiful souls one could wish to adopt. For now three dogs are enough for our family but someday when we are ready to add another fur baby I will definitely be adopting from Rock 'N Rescue. A rescue with heart and really cares. read more

Something is deeply wrong with the owner of this rescue. I would like to thank this place for opening my eyes to the dark side of animal rescue. Being an ardent "adopt don't shop" proponent, I was very uncritical of these organizations going into my search, and it didn't even occur to me that they could be fronts for fraud, especially the smaller ones. Having now found reviews of this "rescue organization," I can now say that I am FAR from the only prospective owner this lady has had an issue with and made to feel that I did something terrible by making a reasonable request like may I meet the pet before adopting. Something is just off and wrong here . Was approved to adopt . Shocked by the exorbitant adoption price , and was rushed into adopting without any kind of discussion or even meeting the animal. I am not signing an adoption contract or paying almost $300 to agree to adopt a cat sight unseen. I asked for more info on the cat and was given a generic one sentence response . I just adopted two little girls from Rock N' Rescue. The cats were well-cared for, completely vaccinated, chipped, and ready to go. They are socialized and loving and I could not have asked for better little critters. These folks immediately knew what I was looking for and sent me pics of cats they had not yet put onto petfinder. I scooped them up and thought "how smart they are for understanding what I am saying." My Bombay had just passed and I was looking for Bombay "like" cats that were physically heartier. DO NOT ADOPT! THE ANIMALS ARE NOT CARED FOR! I had a HORRIBLE experience recently Rock N Rescue based in South Salem, NY. I have evidence the animal was neglected in their care and with the home they are in now. This care may seem dismissable to some, but I feel I was pressured to believe the dog was perfectly healthy despite the limited evidence I was given. In the last stages of fostering to adopt the dog I was given limited Vet information from the rescue. I had learned from this paperwork, not the rescue team, that the dog was missing a vaccine and was being treated for Heartworm. This was not discussed with me and the rescue assured me the dog was perfectly healthy and any lack of medical records was due to the current owner not giving them the updated records. If this organization is charging $650 mandatory donation and guarantee full vetting, why do they not have complete records? This does not excuse the missing vaccine by the way because the date of the vaccine would be before he went to his new family. They also informed me the dog had tested positive for 3 parasites in his most recent vet visit, which would be cleared up quickly with antibiotics. What kind of environment is this dog in that he first gets Heartworm, which is obviously preventable, and 3 parasites? In any case, my trust in this organization was broken, especially when they refused to release complete records until I made the trip out to South Salem to meet potentially leave with the dog. This whole experience was extremely troubling and disappointing, but left me feeling exceptionally horrible for the innocent animal involved. my husband and I adopted "Lucky" small female DSH, "Tiny for Life. Deaf not an issue." The shelter NEVER DISCLOSED THE CAT WAS TOTALLY DEAF. I brought it to their attention yesterday and told them I found it very hard to believe that they were not aware of her deafness. The foster mom? This is an issue and affects her behavior like meowing very loudly at all hours of the night. This experience has been heartbreaking and I will never go to Rock N Rescue again. I rescued a bonded brother and sister. 9 month old cats. They are gorgeous, well socialized, healthy kittens. The rescue accepted my application same day, while three other rescues I applied to... two ignored me and one got back to me almost two weeks later. Their customer service and attention to detail was superb. Before the kitty meet n greet, I was on the phone, a good 30 minutes, with one of the owners going over all the details of my new babies. The ladies were kind and patient and answered all my questions. The day of the meet n greet, I was able to take my new kittens home! No waiting period to check references. The application was a pretty thorough one, compared to others I was filling out at different rescues. I think, most of their cats come from kill shelters in the South, where puppies and kittens are often euthanized after about 16 weeks because they are considered unadoptable at that age. My babies came from Alabama, where a sweet lady fostered then after their mother was killed and they were abandoned. They are thriving and I can tell a lot of energy was put into getting my cats well and showing them love. Easy process. Happened within a week, only because I rescued them right before NYE. The holidays and covid slowed things down a bit, otherwise pretty sure I could have gotten them much faster. read more

Adopting my kitten Tangy (previously named Firefly) through Rock N Rescue was the best decision I have ever made. These ladies are so organized and professional, giving us a folder full of medical records and information on our kitten. When we picked her up, she was already microchipped, spayed, and started her first doses of kitten vaccines. Even my vet was very impressed! Our experience with Rock N Rescue was extremely disappointing, frustrating, and expensive! We hope you will read our post and avoid RNR. When we first spoke with Juli and Marla in May 2020, they assured us that RNR would work with us to find a cat that would be suitable for a family who has an allergic/sensitive family member; we agreed that we would FOSTER a cat (or cats) until we found one that was compatible. The cat we fostered from RNR initially had short hair (they thought she was half-Abyssinian - which she is not). She eventually became long hair (because we fed her good food regularly.) She is definitely NOT low Feline D1 ("D1" is the trigger allergen). After a week with our foster cat, we received her records from an Alabama clinic, which is where RNR "rescued" her from - the records indicate that our cat had "mild stomatitis." (This is a misnomer; that is like saying she has "mild cancer.") Unknown to us at the time, stomatitis is a serious malady that requires extraction of all the cat's teeth at the cost of thousands of dollars, and a lifetime of special foods appropriate to a toothless cat. We kept in touch via email with RNR via email, every few months, letting them know of our cat's progress. We always emphasized her foster status. Marla and Juli were "busy," they wanted us take us to take her to a vet in Carlstadt, NJ, (who would not give us a written estimate of how much it would cost to extract some or all of her teeth). After 11 months of researching and working with our cat's stomatitis, we texted RNR, frustrated and heartbroken, inquiring about returning her to RNR, or at least help with her critical care. Marla and Juli told us that since we had not contacted them "in a year," the cat was OUR CAT. (Totally untrue, we had emailed them several times - in fact, they had sent us a survey which we completed and received an email from them that they would contact us, which they never did). When we contacted them via phone, they again told us that the cat was not a foster but OUR CAT, and we should have all her teeth extracted at our own expense! And if we wanted them to take her back, there would be a "rehoming" fee! We hope readers of our post will learn from our experience. First, be very wary of a very small organization like RNR that says one thing to get a cat into your home, but then wants more money to take the cat back. Also, insist that your "rescue" organization read through your animal's health records with you, and explain everything that is noted in the records. Second, if you foster a cat, make sure you have details of the FOSTER agreement in writing; RNR did not want to give us a "foster" contract, they wanted us to sign a foster-to-adopt contract, which does not specify the length of time to foster. There was NEVER any specific time set for foster-to-adopt. Third, if there is ANY indication of "stomatitis" or other malady, be sure you understand what that means. Marla definitely knows what it means for a cat to have stomatitis - but she either did not read the Alabama vet's records OR deliberately did not point out the stomatitis indication, hoping that we would do what we did do - absorb the cost of thousands of dollars of medical bills for our "foster." We have done the honorable thing, despite RNR's dishonorable actions. We have committed to taking care of "OUR CAT," despite the cost of thousands of dollars - for less money, we could have adopted from a breeder of truly Low Feline D1 cats. Fosters, beware. read more

I adopted by sweet Bonnie (formally Ghost) and the process was super easy and well done! I felt extremely informed and up to date on my kitten. Their website has a shopping list for your pet which made is super easy - I ordered from Chewy.com and the rescue gets $20 for a referral, even better! Before you get your new forever friend, they go over medical records which is extremely helpful. They do such excellent work and I'm thrilled there's a rescue like this! read more
