    Tuscan Seared Salmon
    Kathy B.

We had the fish and chips and the Tuscan Salmon. Both very good. Very thick batter on fish but I am in the habit of eating the fish out of the batter so was quite pleased that it was flavorful and hot. Fries were lukewarm though. Salmon was plentiful, well prepared and tasty. Veggies were delicious.

RCT has been on my list for a while. I visited for lunch today and I'm glad I got to experience it. Located just off of Redstone Arsenal (still accessible to civilians, but only just) RCT shares a strip mall (and also a parent company, iirc) with Fiero Mexican Grill and DipWich. It's the most upscale of the three, offering an actual sit-down-and-dine experience as opposed to counter service. Still, it's of an approachable price, not fine dining or super ritzy or anything. It's a tavern, like the name says. Most lunch offerings are between $15-20. As expected per the location, this spot attracts a large dose of engineer types from the arsenal and research park alike. I wound up grabbing a seat at the bar since I was dining solo and the restaurant was pretty busy. That's where I met the star of the show today -- Jessica, the bartender, was outstanding! She had a warm smile and welcoming demeanor, got me quite literally everything I needed with a quickness (menu, Diet Coke, took my order, grabbed extra ketchup after the kitchen brought me my food, and then had my check delivered and my card run all in less than 45 minutes) and she was always busy making sure everyone was taken care of and everything was clean. She offered recommendations and brought refills so confidently and with such perfect timing I wonder if she could do it in her sleep. A family of three sat next to me briefly before a real table was cleared for them, and she even found time to get their orders and reassign them to the correct table before they moved. Go, Jessica! I'd browsed reviews and the menu before I went and was confidently set on ordering the tavern cheeseburger with hand-cut fries. Jessica let me select the doneness and I asked for medium well. It was delivered more on the well than the medium side, but that's okay by me; never hurts to play it safer with a burger. Overall, the burger was decent. Pretty thick cut patty and only a little dry around the edges. Not too fatty nor too lean. It had a nice charred flavor and the cheese was gooey (and not American cheese - which certainly makes ME happy). The bun did start to disintegrate a bit as I was finishing up. I enjoyed the peppercorn aioli (I'm a sucker for all aiolis though). It added the extra moisture the patty needed and also brought a bright, peppy flavor. It was good for fry dipping too. I guess $15.50 is the going price for restaurant burgers nowadays, but I don't know if /I/ want to spend that much on a burger that was only just "good" with any regularity. I think if I'd added bacon to it, that really would've leveled it up -- some burgers just need bacon, ya know? I feel like this was one of them, but I didn't feel like paying for the upcharge. I think I'm coming across as more negative than I really feel about this burger. On a 10 scale, I'd give it about a 6.8. Above average, good even, just didn't wow me. The fries were quite good. They had some kind of herb and flaky salt dusting and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Perfect amount of crispness. I think the serving I was given was maybe a little paltry, at least in comparison to what it looks like in other patrons' pictures. I could've done with a few more, but when is that ever NOT the case when it comes to me with fries? A clean and inviting atmosphere, quick food delivery (nice when you can get a comfortable sit-down meal within an actual lunch HOUR), exceptional service from Jessica, and good enough food makes this a comfy 4 stars from me.

    Korean Nachos

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I absolutely loved the atmosphere when I walked in, and the bartender was super sweet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, the food was a letdown. I ordered the Korean Nachos along with a few other items, but the meat on each dish was very dry. Because of that, I probably won't be returning.

House-made focaccia with roasted garlic and olive oil

After way too long, I met up with some of my Huntsville foodie friends last night at Rocket City Tavern. It was great to see them, and to meet a few new ones. Such good food and terrific service from Michael and Landen. We started off by sharing some appetizers. They were all delicious but my favorite was the house-made Foccacia with prosciutto, roasted garlic, and olive oil. It was SO good that I wanted to bring home a whole pan of it! We had Cilantro-Lime Chicken Tacos, Zucchini Frites (my second favorite), Korean BBQ Steak Nachos, and Crispy Salmon Bites. All of the appetizers were items I would order again AND they are on the Happier Hours Menu from 4-7 for only $5 to $7 each. Great taste AND value! For my entree, I chose their Ale Battered Fish & Chips. Light, crispy battered cod with house-made tartar sauce and cocktail sauce served with fries and a kalamata aioli. All perfectly cooked and DE-lish! If you've ever done like I have done and accidentally taken the exit to Redstone Arsenal and freak out, never fear...you've got a bit to go until you get to the arsenal gate and before you get there, Rocket City Tavern will be on the right waiting for you. 2100 Rideout Rd SW, Huntsville, AL 35808 #HeatherEats #dineHSV

Address took me to an apartment complex, drove a little past the destination given and a little in the opposite direction, didn't find the tavern. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you went north on Rideout away from I565? There are no apartments near the gateway where the tavern is located. It is just south of the big Boeing complex on the right, past Bridgesteeet and just past the Rideout road and I565 overpass.…

Nestled in historic Madison, V&O offers some of the most unique wines and whiskey/bourbon offerings in the region. There's a typical bar area with TVs showing sports, but surrounding the bar are plush, lounge chairs and couches that feel more intimate and inviting for groups. Selection of libations is a great start, but without passionate and knowledgeable 'tenders the experience feels... incomplete. V&O doesn't disappoint here either as everyone is well-versed and opinionated in what they are serving. It's the perfect place to let a few hours bleed away and forget what is going on in the world; maybe have an intelligent sparring session about tastes in the 'brown drink' or adult grape juice... You can spend an entire night here or end up here at the end of the night for a night cap... I don't think you can wrong either way. It's becoming one of my favorite places for wine and whiskey/bourbon... but tread carefully; there are so many things to try you may find it hard to walk out to a ride home. However, you won't regret the time spent within the walls of this gem... I can't promise the same for the next day

This place opened recently and offers a huge selection of wines (from Germany, France, California, New Zealand, and more), several varieties of bourbon, and a craft cocktail menu. They also have charcuterie boards and a shop with wine- and alcohol-themed memorabilia that are really quite cute -- think tumblers, candles, and other great gifts. There are televisions playing softly in the room with the bar but there's also a more intimate room; I think it'd be a nice place to gather with friends. I was told there'd be wine tasting nights starting soon! The bartender, Teylor, was exceptional! She put me right at ease, spoke knowledgeably about each cocktail and wine option, and had a good sense of humor. She worked efficiently among the patrons and was very attentive and polite. Shout-out to Teylor! The vibe was really great too - the other guests were friendly and sociable without being overbearing and I enjoyed my visit while having a drink. I ordered the Monte Sano Sunset, which is a rum drink with fruity elements to include orange and pineapple juice as well as a squeeze of lime. It wasn't overly sweet and didn't upset my stomach as similar drinks often do. It was a pleasure to watch Teylor make my beautiful drink as well as what others ordered; there was even fire involved with one particular beverage! I enjoyed my drink and heard rave things from the other guests about each and every drink that was served. Although this bar is rather far away for me, I look forward to bringing friends from out of town to this special new place.

The restaurant sits just a stone's throw from the ballpark where the Rocket City Trash Pandas play, so the whole place already has a fun, lively atmosphere before you even sit down. Now given the name "Prohibition," I half expected someone to knock on the door and ask for a secret password like it was 1927. Back in those days, enjoying a drink required secrecy, dim lights, and maybe a jazz band playing in the corner. Today, things are a little easier... though for this non-drinker, my order was simple: water on the rocks, hold the lemon. I prefer my water about 100 proof for maximum flavor. My boss and coworker grabbed seats at the bar while we looked over the menu. We kicked things off with the Pork Belly Burnt Ends and the Pork Bao Buns. Let me tell you, those Pork Belly Burnt Ends were an absolute masterpiece. They came out crisp and seasoned just right with a little spicy kick. Served with raw carrots, homemade pickles, and lettuce wraps to bundle those little jewels together--downright tasty. If food had a Hall of Fame, these would already have a plaque on the wall. The Pork Bao Buns were good as well, but they simply couldn't match the grand slam the Pork Belly Burnt Ends delivered. For my main course, I ordered the Smoked Wangs with the Jala Mango seasoning and a side salad. The wings were delicious--cooked and seasoned to perfection. Every bite was solid. No bootlegging required. Prohibition definitely hit it out of the park today. Between the great food, the great service, and the fun atmosphere near the ballpark, this place is a must-stop for locals or anyone just passing through Madison. Our waitress tried pretty hard to convince us to order dessert, so I'm guessing their sweets are just as flavorful as everything else on the menu. The only problem I had today? I couldn't finish my meal. I was absolutely stuffed. If this had been the 1920s, the only crime committed here would've been leaving food on the plate. Great food. Great service. I'll gladly return--though next time I may need a little more room in the stomach.
