Had a great breakfast here with my wife. We had stopped at Zak's first and couldn't believe how high the prices were. Johnnys had much lower prices and a larger selection. Very happy and impressed. Second day in a row for breakfast - my hotel's restaurant isn't open during this mess, decent coffee, good breakfast potatoes and everything you want in a breakfast diner including happy, sassy and completely competent serving staff. Tina was quick with a masked smile and kept my coffee full and conversation interesting. Even when my hotel's resto re-opens for brekkie, I'll be back. Many years ago this place was located in the Hazeldean mall. Haven't been back to Ottawa in a long time and justices it had moved to a strip mall. Wife and I tried it out for breakfast. Got a table right away despite it being quite busy for a Sunday am. Waitress was nice and the menu had a good selection/breakfast choices. Disappointed that there were no real healthy choices available. Food came-was good. Nothing spectacular but still good. Bill was around $34CDN. read more

Oh boy -- what a mish-mash experience we had here THIS time! This visit was not up to Rockin Johnnie's usual standards: food was ample and tasty enough, but service was still in Sunday sleeping-in mode... One person in our party hates peppers of any kind, so she ordered an omellette without any peppers. What she got was an omellette with no GREEN peppers! Huhn? At least the waitress admitted that mistake. She had asked me if I wanted whipped cream and when I hesitated before saying yes, she made a joke that she had to twist my arm. So why wasn't there any whipped cream on my plate? We had to beg for coffee and water refills. Not enough cutlery set on the table although they fully understood how many people were in our party... and it wasn't crowded when we go there. What gives? But as for the food, there was lots of it - so much so that some of us couldn't finish everything. The food was fine. Service takes off points. read more

This is my family-to-go breakfast place ever since they came here to study high school. It became my go-to breakfast place whenever I come to Ottawa. The atmosphere has a classic decoration that brings you back to the 70s-80s. Food was a little oily but still tasty. read more

I really like the breakfast potatoes and the music. LOVE the music. That's 95% of why I keep coming back. For breakfast it's about what you would expect, but they have a lot of options. If this was any closer to my house I would probably go way more often! The service is usually good, and the wait time varies depending on how busy they are. The thing I appreciate most is that they were open on New Years Day, and they serve breakfast late! It's got a great diner vibe and an old school feel to it- I enjoy my morning meals here and will definitely keep coming back! read more

My friends and I came here on.m a whim after searching long and hard for a dimsum place in Kanata. To our dismay the one we wanted to go to was closed! Luckily Rockin Johnnys Diner was nearby. The food was pretty standard, we liked the great combinations of different breakfast foods they offered. The options were great. Service wise, it was also very good. Just watch out for those floors! For some reason they are extra slippery. So take caution. read more

Signed up for Yelp just to leave this review! Though the opening hours are posted as 11:00am - 11:00pm we were told they don't serve food after 4:00pm when we went in at around 3:30pm one afternoon. We had our 8 year old son and our three month old son with us and can only surmise that the hostess or server didn't want a baby in the restaurant. We specifically went during an "off time" so the restaurant wouldn't be as busy and our baby wouldn't be as affected by crowds and noise and was sleeping in his car seat when we tried to enter. Pleased to say we went to another restaurant that happily served us and will never again inconvenience this restaurant chain with our business. read more

Good place for breakfast. The pancakes and fresh toast are not overwhelmingly sweet which is great. The sausages and eggs are cooked perfectly. Great quality for the price. Definitely coming back. Love the atmosphere too. The diner is decorated perfectly, with cute designs. read more

I've been here a few times in the past couple months for breakfast and during that time, I have noticed a slow decline in the service. Today was the one and only time where I have walked out of a restaurant because of lack of service. I went in this morning with my husband and father-in-law and we were greeted right away by a waitress with a coffee pot. My husband and father-in-law got coffees and all three of us ordered water. We didn't have enough creamers at our table so my husband did not get to have his coffee. We waited for over 10 minutes for the waitress to return with our water and to take out food orders. She never returned. My husband talked to the manager who was very kind about the situation and offered to seat us in another spot in the restaurant where we would be served faster, but we declined. They compensated us for the coffees, and we left. I understand that breakfast is a very busy time for them, especially on weekends, but 10 minutes plus for water is unacceptable. I am giving three stars because when I am able to order, I am always happy with the food. However, the slow service is a major issue that needs to be worked on. read more

If I had made a Yelp account before my last visit to Rockin' Johnny's, then I would be giving it a sure 5/5 rating, but unfortunately, my last visit took a star off from my perfect experience there. What happened to the grand sized burgers? They went down a whole size and don't feel as exciting to eat as before. Before, my mother and I would always bring back half of our burger for left-overs and feel genuinely satisfied with our meals. But we felt let-down this time about the down-size. Also, the waiter took a little while to bring the order, and it wasn't all that busy. Totally bummed out about that aspect, but other than that I love the place! It's very homely, and casual. You can always expect good food for a fairly decent price. Good family place, so check it out some time! read more

Busy Saturday morning! No wait for a table though! I have frequented this place for the past few months as our go-to breakfast spot in Kanata. The staff are lovely and have all been there for ages. The eggs and sausages are always done to perfection - and that really means a lot to me [I like my eggs Benedict - yolks runny but whites cooked] and my man [who has a thing for split sausages] . Upon arrival waitress had to clean off a booth even though restaurant was practically empty. Floors were filthy. Open ceiling and ductwork very dusty. The staff here are usually quite nice. The food itself is mediocre. I Ordered a chicken bacon ranch wrap that was literally dripping grease. They offered to make me a new one right from scratch... Which I'm now wondering if the first one wasn't? But my partner had already finished. I'm not a fan of their home fries and every time I have asked for garlic on them they have forgotten. Been coming here for late breakfast and lunch the past few weeks. Joann is usually our server but today it was Tina. We ordered 3 waters of different temperatures and she got them right lol. Burgers were okay and the breakfast was good. They have the 'worm' burgers like Montana's, which I don't usually like but they were good. The breakfast here is fantastic, but the lunch and dinner menu is below par. I would provide a better rating for the homefries alone, but unfortunately, I always have terrible service at this restaurant. One time I was even trying to order an extra side and the server walked away before I could even get the words out of my mouth. A great place to come and feel ignored. read more

Worst experience ever! Customer service sucks. Waitress was rude (Caitlyn). Brought me the wrong order and refused to take it off the bill. Insisted on placing another order and waiting for my correct order. I was already running late. Asked to speak to the manager and was told the manager was too busy. Then another woman came out who said she normally shares manager position but today is not because she is serving... told us that she can only discount the wrong food by 50%. Ridiculous!!! Worst customer service. Manager doesn't want to be bothered to come deal with customer issues. Never coming here again. Went there on Monday August 6, 2018 around 12 noon. I just don't care for this place. It's actually across the board all Rockin Johnny's I've been to I just don't care for the old school theme and the waiters are always older women who are just too slow. (this is my experience there are probably great ones out there but this is what I've had on my visits) regardless the service is goodish but slow always very nice! As far as food its all very i can make this at home and if I'm not in a rush probably a lot better. EXCEPT for the bacon!! I could make better bacon with a match and farmland roadkill. So we have been coming here for many years.. It is sometimes great, and sometimes pretty disappointing. The service is very good 99% of the time .. the food less reliable. Today our breakfast special looked like one typical one spread out over 2 plates. I thought it was a joke. Quality is unpredictable and seems to be declining overall. Too bad. read more

Staff was excellent, friendly, quick, courteous. Serving size was great value. My two friends loved their food but my burger had a weird smell to it, sort of like some type of soap or dish liquid. My hands still smell like it whatever it is. For that reason I give the place a 3/5. You cannot beat great service. read more
