Don't get me wrong, everything looks good, but the quality and craftsmanship of each product is low grade. We had to replace the faucet because the sprayer stopped working. We got a Kohler instead and couldn't be happier. Our farmhouse sink just doesn't drain properly. There isn't enough slope from the 4 corners of the sink to drain downwards towards the drain. You have to use your hand to move any food towards the drain. The Craftsman door though looks beautiful is poor insulated which cheap weather strips, not a tight seal. Here's the bottom line, if you want save a few bucks I guess, and don't care about quality, just looks, then this place is for you and for house flippers who put the cheap stuff in their homes when they rent them or sell them.

As for me, when dealing with the associates at Seconds & Surplus every interaction was professional and pleasant. My husband and I recently completed the build of our new home and purchased several items from Seconds & Surplus. We purchased two double iron doors, tile for our guest home, and the handles for both doors etc. After installation I had a few concerns and reached out, an associate answered the phone and said the manager was on break, but they would forward those concerns to him so that he could call me back. Honestly, I was going to hold my breath as it usually would take several days to get a call back when calling a business about a concern however when calling Seconds and Surplus the manager, Cordell called me within a few hours. He took the time to listen to my concerns and showed a genuine interest in what I had to say. He asked that he reach out later in the week as he needed to find out what he could do for me. He promptly reached out a few days later with a resolution to my issues. Shortly after speaking to him Mr. Williams, the Regional Vice President reached out via email. He was very professional and even took the time to send me some links on one of the rare concerns I had. I was very shocked and pleased that someone in his position took the time to not only apologize for those few minor concerns but take a moment out of his day to make sure they were all taken care of. I recently was doing a home rehab in East Plano and needed to get some existing laminate and…read morecarpets taken out and replaced with something nicer. I did a huge amount of homework and had 3 different and well recommended flooring companies come out to assess the situation and give me their quotes. All 3 were knowledgable and could have done a solid job on this work, but Ted stood out among them as particularly capable and experienced (not just an age thing, but the way he talked about the work). Of the 3 companies who came, 1 of them didn't even mention leveling or prep work, 1 of them mentioned it but said he didn't know what the house would need, and only Ted was specific about it off the bat and pointed to one area that he could eyeball as needing additional prep. I could barely see what he was talking about when I looked closely but it was just obvious to him. He was also the only one who thought to talk to me in advance about different options for where the floors and baseboards meet. I'm not sure what the other companies would have done or were assuming, but Ted took ample time to talk through running the floor directly to the baseboards versus using stained quarter round, and mentioned that if the thickness changes and the baseboards have to move lower, painting will be required to touch up above them. Ultimately Ted's vision for the project spanned end-to-end and I felt very comfortable that he was telling me everything I needed to know. Ted also made the process very easy for me. No black box of "let me take this back to my office and send you an estimate a week later." Ted knows his stuff and was able to calculate the cost for me before he even left, though he did send me a formal quote after. In fact, he sent me 3 formal quotes, since I decided to explore porcelain tile, LVP, and engineered wood to see how all 3 prices compared across all 3 companies I spoke with. In the end, all the prices were pretty close to each other. I get the sense that none of the good flooring companies around here are pretty much in line with their rates and how they charge (that is, around the same material/labor costs and trying to make a little profit without being greedy). So of course I went with Ted given how well our conversation and follow-up calls went, and he did not disappoint. The finished product turned out great. We went with LVP (luxury vinyl plank) in the whole house (except bathrooms) and Ted and his guys made it look awesome. Oh, and they finished 1 or 2 days ahead of schedule. Couldn't have asked for better work!
