First off the staff here is knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. I asked so many questions and they were able to help me develop a game plan for the project I was going to start. Second, I am a hobbyist, and this place is awesome if you're looking for quality products. Only a poor man can afford cheap tools and I've learned that the hard way. Although Amazon is convenient, it's not good quality and I love the Rockler woods has compromised their quality. Third, they have a lot of products you won't find at the main brand hardware stores. This is a perfect experience for date night, hanging out with friends, learning something new, exploring new passions... And the like. My partner and I were wondering if the class would really last for three hours, and it ran over because the teacher made sure each student learned and used the tools safely and correctly. Being walked through, step-by-step, how to create a simple cutting board was an extravagant and most excellent adventure. With all of the tools and machines present, we were able to move through the steps easily, confidently, and with encouragement from Jim! The shop, itself, has everything a woodworker would need. More than that, older members of the woodworking community often walked by and gave us tips and tricks as to how to get a better cut or do the step with more ease. Rockler is the best brick and mortar store for the professional and amateur woodworker alike! They have increased their weekday hours to 7pm, and on Saturday they are also open an hour later, closing at 6pm. I recently used a Groupon to pick up a super bargain. They had the Port A Mate MegaVise on sale for $69.99 (normally over $120), which is nearly identical to the Rockwell JawHorse that has become so popular over the last year or two. With my $30 for $15 Groupon I took it home for $55! The quality of the Port A Mate is every bit as good as the Rockwell that retails for about $150. I was also able to pick up some other great sale items including bench hold down clamps for half price and some specialty stainless hardware for a project I was working on. Rockler is still my go to shop! Sign up for their online newsletter and get promotions (typically coupons for 20% off any regular priced item) and their circulars with even better deals year round. read more

My wife likes shabby chic. She bought a 'distressed look' four-poster bed that was missing the top finials. I stopped in at Rockler to see if there was a possibility of finding something that might work. A very nice lady helped me, looked at the section of post I brought in, and walked me back to the section of the store I needed. We discussed options and ultimately found exactly what I needed. I came into Rockler to buy/pick up our new Saw Stop table saw. We were asked if we needed help just seconds after walking in and they brought out the saw immediately. Been going here for years. Went in today looking for epoxy. They were out of the gallon cans. They said they might have some in the back. I asked them to check but they said it was still on the pallet. I explained that I had to drive a ways to get to their store . I asked if they would check the pallet but they said they were too busy setting up for the holiday sale and would look on Tuesday. They said this with SIX employees standing around the counter. I'm in heaven. This is a woodworker's paradise. Everything that you need for your woodworking project is here. They sell power tools, hand tools, jigs, hardware and accessories, and domestic and exotic hard and soft woods. They have some stuff for wood-turning, but I've seen a better selection at Woodcraft. The staff are woodworkers too and they're super nice. They know how to do things and what tools you will need and won't make you feel stupid for asking. They may even have some suggestions for a finish for your wood. Every Saturday, they have a small demonstration on how to use some tool. It may be a bit of a sales class, but it will give you inspiration for your next piece. Get on their email list to see the specials. For an everyday item, you're going to pay a premium for coming here over what you can pay online. However, when they have a sale or a special, it can't be beat. I traded in an old router for a $50 credit towards a new router. The old router didn't even have to work! I've also bought an $80 saw blade for $30 at a Christmas sale. read more

I've never been to such a woodworkers wonderland! Everywhere I looked there were tools I wanted. And of the quality that I dream of. As an amateur though, I really can't justify the cost of owning such fine tools in quantity. And their selection of fine grades of common and exotic woods is the best I've ever seen. I now know where to go when I really need something that I can't find at Lowe's or Home Depot. read more

A beautiful store with friendly and helpful staff who are quite knowledgeable about what they sell but also how they are applied. They seem to have whatever I need, including odd items I saw in the catalog. Usually I go in knowing what I want and don't really need to ask anything, but wind up browsing and finding other things to buy. Having good choices in each subcategory is critical, and a lot of hardware/ big box stores don't seem to get that concept. Rockler is also the first place I think of when I'm doing a shop or jig project. I wish they were open an hour later, though. read more

Went here yesterday to buy slides for cabinets. Drove from corona to Ontario to get them. We called in advance to see if they had they. Their website said they were 11$ instead of 17$ if you buy 6 we called and they worker told us they had exactly 6 when i got there they were ringing up at 11$ they were ringing up at original price. The cashier noticed one was different then the others and said thats why the discount wasn't applied. The worker who pulled my order accidentally pulled one that wasnt the right size and they didnt have another one so because they didnt have 6 and only had 5 they wouldnt honor the discount even though I had called ahead of time to check. Waste of time and money and in my opinion bad customer service. Also they guy who pulled my order was rude. said that he told us there were only 5 when clearly he pulled he wrong size and thought it was the right one. Not sure why he would pull an extra one then that wasnt the size we asked for. Next time ill drive the extra 2 miles to Reel Lumber in Anaheim the are significantly cheaper 9$ and i dont have to buy a specific amount. read more

Probably better to order from their online catalog unless you live close or are in a jam.
