If I could give zero stars I would. This place is a good safety hazard. Went in, sat at the bar where you can watch them make the food. Before I get started on the cooking processes that I saw, ill point out how disgusting every surface around the cooking area was. Top and bottom including the walls of every surface was caked and disgusting. The shelf hanging above the fridge where the cold food was had yellow gunk hanging down over the cold food fridge which remained open. Same with gunk hanging over the grill. Now the cooking process for everyones food.. The lady doing all the cooking was filthy from wiping her hands on herself and the dirty rag she had rolled into a ball sitting on the cutting board infront of the cold fridge. She would dip bread into egg yoke in a bowl and then in French toast and throw on the grill, then just wipe her hand on the same dirty rag and continue touching everything else. If you ever got sick a few hours later after this place, that is why. Not once did she wash her hands and she bare handed everything while only using the same nasty rag to or her pants to wipe her hands. This place is beyond a food health violation and should be shut down until brought up to regulations. It doesn't look like they cleaned the kitchen in years. Gordon Ramsey would have a field day here. read more

I used to come here all the time; Next time you decide to go;; Just sit at the bar and watch them make your food. the last time I was there I watched them make my food and to my horror it was a food, health and safety nightmare. I watched the woman cooking take her bare hands and coat a piece of toast in a bowl that had just been sitting out. Turns out it was eggs. A bowl of eggs just sitting out. I watched her turn and touch a nasty wet rag on the end of the counter before she took that same hand and dunk it into the mushrooms; touch the wet rag again and then dip her hand into the raw bacon and place it on the grill; touch the same rag and then use her bare hands to grab more veggies. I then watch them use the same pan; simply wipe off the excess before they added raw veggies to the pan. I'm honestly surprised and sickened that no one has gotten super sick from eating here.. it's unfortunate because this place used to be one of my favorites but after watching how the food is prepared I don't think i'll ever be coming back unless something drastically changed with how the food is stored and prepped. read more

One of the best meals I've ever had. This is the kind of place the hipster restaurateurs in my city keep trying to replicate, but fail. I don't leave a lot of yelp reviews but am reasonably well traveled (and fed) across three continents. It's rare to find this level of fresh and balance, especially at an awesomely greasy diner. The next time I'm within 50 miles of Davenport I'll go out of my way to return. Meantime, here's something I'd never thought I'd ever put in writing under any circumstances: Try the corned beef. To start, I gave Rock Anchor Grill a 2 out of 5 stars because it only meets expectations. Nothing bad, but everything was as expected and nothing wowed me. An alright hole in the wall. As you may have seen, the prices are incredibly reasonable for a broke college student. The diner environment and food quality are just okay. The service is great and they are very fast with their food service. However, the price represents the quality and taste. There is no wow factor or anything special where it wants me to keep going back, besides the low prices. If you want the dive-diner experience with low prices, then this is definitely the place for you. If you want a breakfast joint with more flavor and better ambiance, try another breakfast place. read more

I had one of the best breakfast I've had in a while at this mom n' pop, or really, just a pop shop. It's a homey hole in the wall - that pays honor to those who have served in our country's military. The owner's own service history is proudly displayed on the wall - as well it should be! I ordered the George's skillet - it was a real treat. finely diced ham, bacon, onion, bellpepper all sauteed with hashbrowns and topped with 2 eggs any style. Really flavorful. The chef has some real knife skills because the dice was really awe-inspiring. Don't overlook this little joint. It may not be fancy, but it's pretty dang fulfilling. read more

This was out of the way but the Navy theme made us curious so we drove downtown to see. The place is old and no AC so hot the summer day we arrived. It's clean though and the people are friendly. Menu is simple. We had the pulled pork sandwich special. Really excellent. I had onion rings with mine and these were the best I've had in long while. Fantastic grease-spoon joint! Very laid back service but always on point. I had a bacon and cheese omelette that was loaded w thick cut pieces of glorious bacon, lots and lots of it. For starters our waitress talked to us once to get our orders. another lady brought our food out to us after waiting 30-40 minutes for our food to be done. they only had one cook from what I could see. The food wasn't good I got biscuits and gravy, meat did not taste good at all. My friend got the steak, eggs, potatoes, and toast. This is an old school diner in a rough part of Davenport. I usually get a burger with fries, and it has tasted great everytime. The workers are friendly, and the service is good. There are not many old school diners like this left. It has a loyal following from "regulars" you see in there everyday, but I'm surprised it goes unnoticed by all the local college students. read more

This is an old time place with home feel. This is a relaxed place and my favorite place to grab Saturday morning breakfast. Bottom line, no need for your Sunday best just come as you are grab a booth and some good eats. The staff is nice and very laid back.
