I wish I would have taken pictures this morning, but when we brought these donuts back to our shared Airbnb they were devoured before I could even snap a picture. While on a family vacation we decided to treat our crew of 11 to donuts one morning during our stay. We stopped in Rockstar around 8am on a Tuesday morning. The restaurant is nicely decorated and welcoming. The wall of donuts behind the counter are eye catching in the best way. We ordered a dozen donuts that ranged in variety from a few glazed, glazed jelly, Nutella, peanut butter chocolate, Samoa, red velvet, cookies and cream, maple bacon, Twix, and chocolate iced with sprinkles. We also ordered a few mini me's (donut holes). They were all spectacular and the service was top notch. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and attentive. First thing that hit me in the face when I walked in was dirty mop water smell...pretty gross...the floor also didn't appear to be too clean either...That being said, I got an everything bagel...It was rather average..They only offer plain cream cheese as well - no flavored...Also they don't put the cream cheese on your bagel but rather put the cream cheese in a littlw container and give you a plastic fork and you haveto do it...Not a fan of that either...I probably wouldn't get the bagel again unless I was completely jonesing for one....The donut, on the other hand is a different story...It was great ! It was probably the heaviest donut I ever ate in my life, lol...It was like seriously big and beefy lol....Most of the time I eat a donut I feel like I want another because it wasn't enough..Not the case here ! Not only are the donuts sinfully delicious, but their customer service is also A++ My Grandma loves it when I send surprise donuts to her. I knew having some of her favorites delivered for her birthday breakfast would make her day, but seeing this picture from my Grubhub driver really made MY day. After seeing the note to my delivery driver, they wrote a little "Happy Birthday Grandma" note for her. I've never had a donut that I didn't like here, but the Boston Creme is both mine and Grandma's favorite. Grandma really likes the Red Velvet, and the cream cheese icing is very good. I'm not a Red Velvet fan, so I can't judge. Snickers and Twix are delicious but so rich that we save those for a snack later in the day. First impressions were underwhelming. The place did not look inviting and some old decorations just thrown about and a cardboard cut out that has seen better days. Our service was terrible. She acted like she did not want to be there and did not want us there. We asked some questions and was barely given responses. We ordered a half dozen anyway because the donuts did look good. First bite of the glazed donut was not good. I decided to warm it up for about 7 seconds in the microwave and what a difference. I gave it new life. Very tasty. One star is generous after today's fiasco. While ownership sat with a vendor and the lone employee spent several minutes while standing at the register, line forming (I was second in line, with three behind me), it appeared he was getting register training via telephone. His fingers poking the register, head down ignoring the line forming in front of him. That was the good part of the visit. Having purchased old-fashioned donuts from the former ownership for years, this was my second attempt at purchasing them. With at least 6 of the chocolate and six of the plain clearly visible (nothing else of this ilk), I asked for 6 old-fashioned, 3 of each. Since the 5 plus minutes of the clueless on the phone episode, management (owner I don't know for sure) finally attended to his business. "do you want three chocolate and three plain? (DUH.) Yes, 3 of each I said," was my impatient reply. I have to tell you folks. If you have wasted your money on this re-imagined classic, I feel for you. I will not only never purchase these under fried, 80% sized, half-the amount of chocolate coating ever again, I will not cross the threshold, nor will I NOT share my total disgust for this outfit. Just an observation -- If the owner/manager spent half the amount of money the multi-colored yet poorly crafted tattoo sleeves on both arms as he did on training, culinary expertise gathering, and listening to clients while he allowed himself to be sold on yet another website, things might be going better. Another aside, the previous ownership had lines out the door each and every time I visited, which was at least twice a month for several years. Near Ghosttown won't make for longevity. read more

Tried so hard loving this place after reading all the reviews. Definitely wanted to try it out though before we left Tampa. Their donuts were pretty dry. I'm not sure if it's because we got there late or what but it was pretty sad. We might try it again if we're ever in town and will arrive at an earlier time. The staff were really nice and accommodating. They had a wide variety of choices. However, we got the Philly cheesesteak breakfast sandwich and that was amazingggggg. Hot damn! I told myself last night after a not so healthy dinner/dessert, "no donuts for me tomorrow morning, no donuts ...". I didn't listen and woke up thinking "I'm going to get us some doughnuts and try this place out"! Well needless to say, I have no regrets with that decision. Of course after reading the reviews and downing many a donut in the midwest, I had to try this place! My mind and stomach told me to order everything because I wanted to try everything but I had to be strategic as I'm not about to drop $100 on doughnuts. Yes it's possible to do that here. I ordered two of their sandwiches - one was a sausage on a Croissant and the other was a biscuit but with Ham. The winner was definitely the Croissant with the Sausage as we felt the biscuit was a bit too soft and would've been amazing with a more firm texture as the biscuit falls apart when you take a bite. That ham was amazing though and the cheese they use was on point! Now for the Donuts, I did 6 and so far so good! The ones that stand out are the Apple Fritter for sure, their Glazed and their Simosa donut. We only had a few bites of each as we were stuffed from the sandwiches but I'm sure we'll dig in later in the afternoon. As you can see by the pictures, not too many donuts were left @ 9:30am as it's a first come first serve deal. The store is decorated with donut oriented items and gives the feel of a throwback donut shop from the 50's/60's. I saw they served coffee but wasn't sure what the brand was. They also had a cooler for other beverages like water, milk, etc. My only negative on this place was the workers were not wearing masks. I feel as a business, it would've been appreciated if you did. Since I've been here and been to 5 places outside of our AirBNB (these are 2 restaurants/1 grocery store/1 starbucks and 1 liquor store) this was the only place so far that their employees did not wear a mask. I was a bit surprised as we are not out of this yet and since we are not getting leadership from the top, the next best example come from businesses themselves. My friend ordered these donuts for our group and we cut them up to try different flavors. These were so fresh and pretty! The cake donuts were not dry. Yeast donuts were light and fluffy. Some donuts had a lot of icing. If you are an icing fan, this is the donut for you! I personally love a good Boston Cream with a good amount of cream inside. This was perfect!
