If you end up here we got the Boston Cream Funnel Cake, it had Bavarian cream, fudge, whipped cream, and powdered sugar, it was $10 flat with cash and filled up three of us easily. Which made for a great place to stop for dessert after more million-dollar highway driving. They have many different funnel cake designs, or you can have them build it however you want with the options they have. The funnel cake itself was pretty good, if not a little on the bland/dry side. I'd definitely suggest some toppings, which really do elevate the funnel cake experience. The restaurant is very small, so you may want to get it to go. Whenever I decide to retire from life and set up my dream retirement job of owning a soda fountain and funnel cake shop, I will look to Rocky Mountain Funnel Cakes as my model. This shop hands down is the best funnel cakes I have ever had in my entire life. Let alone a stand alone shop! It's been almost a year since my first visit to this shop and am astonished that there isn't a single review of this place. Still time to time I salivate when I randomly start thinking about this place, the funnel cakes are just that good. There's only a few places so sit inside the shop, and personally I like sitting on the bench in front of the shop to people watch. The inside of it is a bit old looking but it's that look of long aged authenticity of their shop. They have a huge map on their wall with many push pins marking the locations of all the people from around the states who have visited their shop. The guys who work there are nice and are always full of recommendations and willing to make the funnel cake of your dream. They have the typical toppings, hot fudge, whipped cream, various fruits, but also have toppings I never thought of (nuts, honey, syrup, cream cheese). The funnel cake is made to order, no heat lamps, no microwaved or re-fried funnel cake. It's done in front of your eyes with fresh batter and you can watch them put on your toppings. The batter is so light, airy, crunchy, and not too sweet. Their funnel cakes don't leave you with that, "Oh I feel sick" feeling after eating too much of it. This shop also carries drinks, but a friendly local said, "You gotta try the Zuberfizz, Colorado's own soda made in the city of Durango" Since then I've been hooked and have had to search far and wide all over California to find it. A trip to Silverton or a pass through is isn't complete without a stop for funnel cakes at the Rocky Mountain Funnel Cake shop. read more
