We stopped by Smedley's Ice Cream Parlor right when they opened at 8:00 a.m. and treated ourselves to an old-fashioned chocolate shake. It was absolutely delicious and really hit the spot! Such a cute shop. Easy to find on main street. The cute girl working the counter greeted us as we entered. All the flavors looked delicous I asked her what she'd suggest she said huckleberry-so got that and was SO glad I did it was delicous and I would definately get it again. I went into this coffee shop with my husband and one year old baby because the line was out the door for the Coffee shop next door (would have been worth it). I asked for an ice mocha latte, and the older gentleman behind the counter made it - I whipped out my phone to tap pay (for a $9 latte) and he sternly said "we do not accept tap pay". To which my husband replied "we don't have a physical card on us right now." Now, we were staying literally right around the corner, so we were 100% going to go and snag a card (honest mistake) and grab the latte. HOWEVER - the man behind the counter laughed at us, snatched the latte from the counter and aggressively slammed it onto the back counter and it really took me by surprise. He said "well it would cost me $20,000 to upgrade to tap pay" and I mentioned to him that there were great options like the square to fix that problem for a lot less money. Now I genuinely was trying to be helpful. He replied "they steal 1.85% of my money and you've already wasted enough of it." I said "well it would certainly encourage people to buy from here" and he went into an angry rant about how "the constitution says I only have to accept cash." I let him know it was just a suggestion and not a requirement as we walked out. He stormed to the door behind us, flicked it closed, and pointed and laughed as we were hopping into our truck. He then tossed a chair, and went back to sitting at a table, at his completely empty coffee shop. There's a reason why nobody is here - this man is quite angry and seems pretty genuinely disturbed. I would caution anyone going in here, it could escalate into a full on fist fight if you strike the wrong nerve with this guy for any reason at all. read more

This place has an excellent vibe! I was looking for something very specific, I like floral flavors or flavors unique to an area. They have a lot of general ice cream flavors as well as coffee, tea, and can make milkshakes with the ice cream - I saw lots of people walking in and out! I didn't end up getting anything but there were plenty of seats and places to sit and eat around. It's a great little spot right on the Main Street :) read more

I want to support my people. Building is worn and unattractive. No music playing lends an eerie silence and hush's conversation in a way that makes the place feel incredibly uncomfortable. Can you imagine my outlandish request to ask for a sample of ice cream? I was similarly yelled at and told to leave the store! Go elsewhere in Silverton. The ice cream was decent and the portion was big! We considered ordering two scopes but the staff member was very honest and told us their portion is bigger than usual. Not only that, they earned their 5 stars today because the staff member also made us feel safe by enforcing social distancing! There were a couple of parents who did not care about COVID and the rules and tried to squeeze in the line. The staff member immediately asked them to spread out from us. The place was fun, it did remind me of when a gold miner might come through the door and order a shot of whiskey. Ha, would he be disappointed with no shot whiskey on hand, No, not really, until he was handed a big ol scoop of ice-cream on a cone! I think he would have a grin from ear to ear! The ice-cream on a cone are huge and the service is top notch! What a fun place, and you will come out of here with a grin from ear to ear as well! The decor is cute. But Beware there is a $10 min to use a card here. My husband and I bought an ice cream each. Total $6.50. But then we had to search for two other unnecessary items in order to actually make the purchase. The guy dispensing the ice cream was annoyed that I was annoyed and called for the owners daughters who gave us the lame excuse that card companies charge for every swipe. So then what you're saying is I should pay ($4.00) for things I don't need (or Go to an ATM where I get charged a service fee) to prevent you having to pay what - $0.50? Easy solution: Raise your prices a quarter a serving and no one even notices. The cherry on top of the experience was that there was a short hair embedded in the ice cream, too!! I'm still gagging at the thought. There are other ice cream shops in town. Go there. read more

The older man in the store was not interested in helping any customers, he was annoyed that I walked in, but I wanted a coffee. He never asked what I wanted, I just asked him for a large vanilla latte. He had bare hands that I watched him use to put his mask on his face. He then grabbed the white paper coffee cup by grabbing the coffee cup with his 4 fingers of his left hand inside the cup and his thumb on the outside, I was mortified that he was putting his fingers inside the cup, he made the drink, never said a word to me and then set the cup on the counter and used his same hand to put the black lid on the cup, He continued pressing his hand down on the lid even where the drink hole was, I asked him if I could please have a new lid, he got mad and grabbed a new lid with his hand and flattened it on the counter with the entire palm of his hand. I said, I can't believe you put your hand all over the lid again, where I am supposed to drink. He got mad and said, I did not! I told him I watched him and I was grossed out. I figured I would just pay for the coffee and leave with out a lid and he just kept yelling at me that he did not palm the lid. I said, Ok nevermind and decided to leave without the drink. He said, "you're a BITCH!" I cannot believe an employee of any store would talk to a customer this way. I recognize that I don't like it when someone puts their hands inside my coffee cup, even pre Covid but in the day and age where you should be wearing gloves and being conscious of cross contamination, you not only were negligent but the service was the worst I have ever had. read more

Very generous portion sizes. They serve Dreyer's brand, which is alright but kind of a letdown if you were hoping for homemade icecream. Bring cash, since they don't take CC for totals under $10. read more

They serve HUGE scoops of Dreyers ice cream! Or you can have a milkshake, cookies, smoothies or coffee.
