    Prime rib

We stopped in for lunch after a scenic train ride and had a great experience! The decor was unique! It had a bunch of taxidermy animals and a little gift shop in the front. The service was quick and friendly, and the food came out fast. We started with the French onion soup, which was absolutely delicious--rich, flavorful, and definitely a must-try. I had the chicken pot pie, and it was fantastic. The puff pastry was soft and perfectly flaky, and the chicken filling was flavorful and cooked just right. My partner ordered the prime rib, which, unfortunately, was a bit tough and lacked seasoning--probably the only letdown of the meal. For dessert, we shared the peach cobbler with ice cream, and it was the perfect sweet ending. Warm, comforting, and not overly sweet--just right!

The most amazing people here - special shout out to Sherri - awesome conversation- thanks. We sat at the bar - and probably better than a table - to allow for more interaction with the staff and the neighbors sitting next to you. Great time. The food was amazing - spot on and, actually, better than expected. Loved everything from the BLT to the Chicken Pot Pie (which was outstanding). We got the bread pudding to go - don't recommend that. The establishment was very eclectic- filled with mountain appropriate items (cool stuff). The place was very clean, well organized, and ample seating. Best service ever - best experience in a long time - thanks to Sherri!!!! I will definitely go back on my next Silverton trip. When in Silverton - stop by and tell Sherri Hi.

I have to be perfectly honest here, we stopped in this restaurant because it was the first one we came upon because I had to use the restroom. (LOL) But.... my personal business aside, it didn't disappoint. We sat at the bar and chatted it up with the bartender. Nice young man, can't remember his name. Hubs instantly ordered the Elk burger and I had the tuna melt. Hubs was delighted with his burger. Nice, rare burger with pepper jack cheese. He didn't even put ketchup on it. My sandwich was ok. The cheese wasn't melted and the fries were a bit soggy, or should I say crisp. I give the restaurant 4 stars for the ambiance. There might have been something else on the menu that might have "wowed" me.

Solid 4 stars. The place was recommended as the best place to dive in Silverton & they were correct! The mountain oysters chili yummy! The folks extraordinarily friendly & the service was SPOT ON!!! Go NOWHERE ELSE!!! This is the FOOD/BAR Spot in Silverton for your money!

Fun place to stop for a beer and snack before taking the train. If you visit Silverton you need to stop here. We had beers and chili. Service was friendly.

Absolutely a great stop! It was very busy when we arrived, yet the service was friendly and fast! Indoor is a great atmosphere with a Colorado vibe, but we sat outside because the weather was so great. Oh, and it was the best turkey sandwich I've ever eaten.

We stopped here to get a bite to eat after taking the Silverton Durango train ride from Durango. The food is amazing. I had the handlebar burger and husband had the buffalo burger, they were both really delicious. The service was excellent by Rocky at the bar who also went out of her way to find me a Plug for my phone so I can get a little more battery life out of it to take more pictures on the train. We met the owner Ken, really nice guy and he's been in business for a very long time over 50 years and he works there on Sundays too ! works just like any of the other workers, cleaning tables, seating people, etc. I love the ambience of this restaurant lots of wildlife to look at!

A restaurant with a lot of character! The decor was amazing so take some time to soak everything in. Now if you want to play a joke on a friend or family member, order the rocky mountain "oysters"! These were NOT oysters but I should have known! Imagine my surprise! The chicken pot pie (highly recommended by our waitress) was the best I've ever had and I don't even like chicken pot pie! Everything about it was amazing! The buffalo chili was ok, but something to try if you want to try something more gamey. Staff was quick and friendly.

In this tiny mining town so historic, it's tucked away in the San Juan Mountains so far from everything. Whereas you know you WILL NOT find a plush restaurant in this rugged railroad town, we definitely wanted some "decent" food to satisfy our hunger. Upon research, we saw that this restaurant had decent reviews left by others; it at least looked a bit promising. We knew we weren't dining in; it was a quick to-go so we could take it back to our nearby hotel room. Upon entering, a young man at the reception was friendly (let's start with this positive note!!) Once we had told him it would be a to-go, he said to just walk up to the bar and place our order there. The lady who was in charge of the bar was also friendly (another positive thing!) We definitely wanted a salad with something else. We picked the salad that has/had tomato stuffed with tuna, the soup of the day (creamy cheddar or something; a cup of it) and the potato skins. The wait time to get our food was decent where we waited no more than 20 minutes. Not bad.... Let's get into the Bad/Ugly, shall we (LOL)? Once back in our hotel room, we opened the container one at a time. We were pretty happy with the Potato Skins. People say you can't really go wrong with (any) potatoes. There were four large pieces of the potatoes in a large container. A good amount of melted cheese was on each piece. The amount of salt? Checked!! The soup was creamy with a good mount of cheese in it (very melty.) It sure wasn't impressive in any way but not bad either. When we finally opened the container of the salad, we could immediately tell that everything in it was OLD. The lettuce was mushy with some brown. The tuna salad was dry. When we dug into it to eat the tomato piece underneath the tuna, we could tell that they used a very old tomato to make the dish (the only way to eat the tomato was to dip it in the ranch dressing that came with the Potato Skins; good thing we didn't use it for the potatoes. Otherwise, we would have eaten it tasting the gross oldness of the tomato; I mean it was that bad.) The chopped-up carrot didn't taste fresh either. This was by far the worst salad we have ever had is the best way to describe how nasty the salad was. We ended up thanking the Potato Skins for being the only decent dish out of all three. We were saved by it is an understatement. We were in town for the beautiful Ice Lake for one night. Even if we are to come back for another hike in this area, we now know that we should skip this restaurant at all costs (unless we want the Potato Skins. But I highly doubt that.)

This is one of our favorite spots to stop at when visiting Silverton. We often visit during our SxS rides and walk to town for lunch. Staff members are always friendly and quick to fill any requests. Prices are reasonable given the portion sizes. Upstairs, it can get warm in the summer, but they have fans to help with circulation. There are lots of interesting wall art to look at and start conversations about. Local taps are limited, but there are some commercial options as well. We always bring our family and friends here because it's a nice atmosphere and many food options to choose from.

Decent spot for a casual meal. Very comfortable atmosphere, very tourist-friendly. We really loved all the decorations and taxidermy throughout the restaurant. My salad was okay, but someone in my group got the Ribeye and absolutely loved it. Overall my group had a good experience and I would recommend this place.

The restaurant was very busy when we arrived, but they got us seated much faster than we expected. Even with only two waitresses who were also handling hostess duties, the service was outstanding. They stayed friendly, attentive, and kept everything running smoothly. We ordered the one egg, potatoes, and biscuit combo, along with the pancake, potato, and bacon plate. Everything arrived hot and in a very reasonable amount of time. The potatoes were well-seasoned and full of flavor, and the biscuits tasted fresh and homemade. The pancake and bacon rounded out a delicious breakfast. The prices were very fair, the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and they also offer outdoor seating if you want to enjoy the mountain air. Overall, this is an excellent breakfast spot in Silverton, and we'd happily eat here again!

This café is conveniently located about 0.4 miles from the Silverton Train Station, making it an…read moreeasy walk for visitors arriving by train. If you're visiting on the Durango & Silverton train, I recommend heading there promptly upon arrival, as the restaurants in town fill up quickly and long wait times can consume much of your limited time in Silverton. The café serves breakfast and lunch, opening at 7am, stop serving breakfast at 10:40 a.m. and closing at 2:30 p.m. During my visit, I ordered the Frito Pie, a dish featuring chili topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and Frito corn chips. While it was enjoyable, it lacked the level of spice I had expected from a Southwest Colorado specialty. My son ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and described it as decent. For dessert, I was fortunate to get the last slice of apple pie available, although they had already run out of whipped cream. The interior has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, but seating is limited and there is no air conditioning. Since temperatures reached 82°F during our visit, we opted to sit outside. Service was average, but the food arrived quickly, which was appreciated. One of the biggest advantages of dining here was avoiding the long lines that had formed at other restaurants. As we walked back to the train station, we noticed many people still waiting to be seated and served. Overall, this is a good option for train passengers looking for a convenient meal in Silverton, especially if you arrive early enough to beat the crowds.

First, the service was good, considering you had to wait in line to order, it went fast, then when your meal was ready you had to go up and get it and anything else you needed. So the cashier was super nice and so was the young man that cleared our table when finished, so that's the service. Excellent ambience for a nice day to eat outside. Clean tables, and no bugs to bother us. Plenty of room for kids to roam and you are able to bring your dogs. That's a plus! The reason I refused to give them a 5 was their food, which some was good some not so good, sure did not look like the pictures online. We had 4 people, 3 of us each got a different type of burger, the Green Chili burger, the Bacon Blue Cheese and the Bitty burger. Each burger's patty was overcooked and the Brioche bun, which drew me to the burgers I expected to be soft was extremely tough, very thick and dry... so in combination of the overcooked patty and the tough, not soft, bun it was not something I would want to order again, I ended up just taking my patty off the bun and not eating the bun, Very disappointed. My husband and son enjoyed the Roc fries with lots of ketchup, but again overcooked and dark. Some may like it that way. But not a fan and will pass on those next time. I would like to go back , maybe we went on an off day. If I go back, I will try something else as my son tried the BLT on the Focaccia Bread and he said it was excellent!
