The menu states the burrito comes with sausage but I was offered sausage, bacon or BOTH. Naturally I got both. After hiking the 3 mile river loop at the end of town, we stopped in here about 9:30 AM for breakfast. We were happy to see a few tables were available. We love the mining decor inside the place as you walk down the stairs into the Cafe. We both ordered the Yankee girl breakfast, one with bacon and one with sausage and both with pancakes. Our food came out nice and hot in about 15 minutes. The sausage doesn't look like much but it's quite delicious and we actually preferred it over the bacon. The pancakes were good (a little dry) and we would've loved to have real maple syrup instead of pancake syrup. The eggs were nicely cooked and we loved the country potatoes. The coffee was very nice, a medium roast that's a little on the dark side. We would get it again though they do have options for latte and mocha. Overall, pretty good. We had lunch here. It's located in a basement, but has plenty of seats and light. Service with water was pretty fast once we sat down, and they kept those glasses filled. I think they had recently reopened/moved as they didn't have kids menus. However, they verbally let us know what they could do. We had a wrap, a burger, and some grilled cheese. Got to sample their fries and sweet potato fries. Only odd thing was food was served as it was done, which could give a gap of several minutes between plates being served. My food was served about 5 minutes after everyone else's and without fries (which followed about 2 minutes later). Overall, pretty good if you want something from their menu. read more

We only had one breakfast morning during our quick two-night stay in Ouray, and we're so glad we chose Yankee Girl Café--it did not disappoint! Right in the middle of downtown, we arrived about 10 minutes before they opened on a Sunday morning. Instead of making us wait, the staff waved us in, which set the tone for the friendly service we experienced throughout. The café has just a handful of tables inside and a few right outside, giving it a cozy, welcoming vibe. We ordered the Yankee Girl Breakfast with sausage and the French toast. Both hit the spot! The French toast was thick, fluffy, and cooked perfectly. The scrambled eggs were a little overdone and on the dry side, but nothing a dash of my favorite hot sauce (Cholula!) couldn't fix. We both ordered a simple breakfast, the Yankee Girl #1, which comes with two eggs, English muffin, sausage or bacon. it was simple but delicious. in addition, we ordered orange juice which must have been freshly squeezed because it was so flavorful and delicious! We sat on the patio, which had large umbrellas to provide shade from the summer sun. The patio was well spaced and nice to have the views of the amazing mountains and fresh air. I had the biggest and best breakfast burrito that I've ever had!! It was made with the freshest and tastiest ingredients and I could only eat half of it because it was so huge. I just ate the second half after the beautiful Perimeter hike of Ouray and it was just as satisfying as when it was hot. So far I have been disappointed in the service of many of the restaurants in town. As soon as I entered the Yankee Girl I was greeted by three welcoming smiles with appreciation to serve me. That was so refreshing to see people in the service industry in this town actually care and have some enthusiasm with what they do and offer. You can tell that the staff love to work there. Keep up the good work!! I also had an awesome virgin Bloody Mary that had just the right amount of kick! They have a full bar and I'll definitely check it out and give an update. It was a little challenging finding Yankee Girl because they recently moved to a bigger and beautiful building and their sign out front hasn't come in yet. I walked past it the first time and then went to the old location on Yelp. It was definitely worth the walk back and forth a few times. FYI, they are on the south side of town and at 400 Main St. I will definitely be going back for a breakfast burrito and dinner before I leave town. If I leave this town! (This little mountain town is so incredible that I am having a hard time leaving)! Apparently they are open for dinner now and the owner/chef is an amazing cook with many skills. The food is really good here. Had the Alfredo and it came with 2 huge triangles of toasted bread and a bunch of roasted asparagus. They were great and worked with me bc I have food allergies and they made sure my meal was perfect. My mom had the Yankee Girl Turkey sandwich- it was almost too big to finish! The sweet potato fries were excellent too. Very friendly server Answered all of our questions and manager checked in on us. We loved sitting in cozy front room right by the fireplace all decked out for the holidays. Mediocre but pricey food We ordered an omelette, a breakfast burrito and a French toast. All of them were mediocre at best. The omelette costs $15 and doesn't come with any toppings. If you want tomatoes, or onion, or cheese in your omelette, each topping costs additional $0.50. This is lame. The dish should be called fried eggs. The french toasts include four pieces of bread and fried potatoes. The potatoes taste like they were cooked yesterday and heated up again this morning. The toasts are regular white bread with some butter, cinnamon, and sugar powder. This is not French Toast. The burrito is the best of all, at least it's warm. read more

The hostess was friendly and prompt but the rest of the experience was disappointing. Our server came out to take our drink order. When I asked for decaf coffee she was visibly annoyed because she had to make it. And then after that we waited 20 minutes, while watching her take full orders from tables seated much after us. I know it might take a bit to make the decaf, but two other people in our 3 person party ordered regular coffee. We could have at least received those and gotten an order in. Instead she kept walking past pretending we weren't there. One of us eventually tried to check in with the hostess to see if we could order since we weren't able to grab our servers attention but was unable to find anyone to speak with so we just left. I stopped here for breakfast based on the ratings here on Yelp. Not sure what people in Colorado are used to but it certainly didn't live up to its Yelp reputation. Had the Yankee girl which consisted of two eggs, some cubed deep fried potatoes, a single piece of dry toast, and a slim sausage patty. I wanted eggs poached which they couldn't do so I got over easy. Eggs were actually cooked and tasted good. However as I said potato were very basic small bland deep fried potato while sausage was cold and almost paper thin. What can be said for a single slice of dry toast? For just under $15 not the type of breakfast I am used to. However their coffee was great. The service staff were nice and did well. On a side note they didn't open until 7:30 but in Ouray it seems the earliest you can find breakfast is 7 AM. read more

Im guessing that's why our food came out wrong but after waiting 15 mins for a server to even come to the table originally we didn't bother saying anything because we needed to eat and keep moving. This small Cafe turned out to be the only breakfast place open when we visited in April. The wait staff was so friendly and the food was amazing. The seating area is kinda small so it can overflow into the communal indoor area. They serve gigantic breakfast burritos.
