Great little spot. Our waitress Sarah was fantastic, best waitress by far on our day long pub crawl. Definitely worth checking out.

Ive been here a few times, but this was the first time I stayed for longer than a drink or two. Our server was amazing! She was constantly checking on us especially during a real busy day. Drinks were pretty good! Although we had no menu to see what drinks were available and their website doesn't seem to be working at the moment so no online menu. Food was pretty meh this particular day- again this was a busy day so maybe that had an effect on it- but we ordered the Mac and Cheese, Soup of the Day (Bowl) and the chicken wings. They went 0/3 on the dishes we had. The mac and cheese had almost no flavour to it. The soup was pretty average tomato bisque but there wasn't much, even in the larger portion. It was like 3 shots of soup in a very wide bowl. Pretty sure it was just a can of Campbell's with basil. But the wings haha- They ran out of regular wings, which is totally fine, but then they offered boneless wings- I'm more of a boneless wing guy anyways to be honest- so I get those. Then I got served the dish in the attached picture. I'm not sure if it was the leftover bits from the frier or chicken of the cave, but I had one bite and it was really over cooked and just tasted weird. My friend ordered the wings earlier on and the portion comparison to this was pretty hilarious, these were tiny little mystery meat chunks. In the end our waitress thought it was odd too and she offered to wave them off the bill which I appreciated. Again she was super kind and provided excellent service. It's a pretty chill vibe in there, they have live music pretty often and that's nice. Well designed place. Clean bathrooms. Go for drinks, food if you're absolutely starving (but not the soup, you'll still be hungry), cool interior and a really nice patio! read more

Just came for a drink and ended up staying for the video dance party. I guess that's a regular theme night. Pretty deserted on a frigid January night. Had a Martini and a Blue Hawaiian. Terrific. Well made. For some reason ended up with a shot at the end of the night. The Burt Reynolds has spiced rum and butterscotch ripple schnapps. The music was classic 80s dance stuff. Fun. I've been here three times over 5-6 years, and every time it ranks as one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. Swore I'd never go back, but events planned by others force me to try again, only to be utterly disappointed. Service is horrible. While friendly it borders on total incompetence. Wrong items brought. Double of items brought. Other items never brought at all. Whenever it comes time to pay, there needs to be an argument over what we ordered vs. what we got vs. what we were charged. It's like the place is run by clowns. The food is not great at best, and horrible at worst. This time around we were served a literally ice cold chicken breast on a pasta dish. Supposed to come with garlic toast, but they don't do garlic toast "after a certain time". Since when did garlic toast have a curfew?! I've known two people who have gotten food poisoning they strongly suspect was linked to this place. Horrible experience from start to finish, not once, not twice, but three separate times, separated by years. Don't waste your time or money. Go somewhere, ANYWHERE else. read more

I've never set foot in Rocky Mountain Icehouse before but it's located right beside The Needle Vinyl Tavern. Half price wine bottles all day Thursday! Tuesday's are half price appetizers. Obviously, you have to get a bottle if you're there on a Thursday. We tried a malbec. - Cream cheese tapenade ($12.00) - the sauce was way too creamy. No balance at all. Massive pieces of red onions and grape tomatoes carelessly thrown on top. We weren't impressed. - Jambalaya ($18.50) - if you think this actually jambalaya, yikes. Mushy rice and not much flavour wise. At least the sausage was decent. - The burger ($13.00) - comes with a side of your choice (salad, daily soup or house made potato chips). We ordered the salad but our waitress brought out chips by mistake. Chips were really salty. She brought our salad after we inquired about it. The burger was remarkably unremarkable. Another typical Edmonton pub sums it up perfectly. Come here for drinks (if you must) but skip the food. read more

First impressions from the outside - looks great! First impressions on the inside - looks ok... But then it started to decline rapidly... Sign at the front says, "seat yourself", so we do, only to be told the table we are at is reserved for a private event... No signage anywhere stating this. We move to a table at the back. Drink specials for Monday are $5.00 highballs and $10.00 Scooby Snacks, which we order, only to be told the special is after 7:00pm. No where did it say this. Our drinks and food were alright, but at $16.75 for some little pieces of potato swimming in bacon bits and cheddar, I'll pass next time. Bathrooms were not clean, with broken mirrors in the men's (my dining partner informed me). We left feeling kinda ripped off... Not even the drinks were on special when our bills were brought out so we had to ask for it to be adjusted. Too much work to get the deals advertised! read more

Pre-pandemic I would have given this place 3 stars; it's nice enough but the menu's a bit limited and fine but nothing unusual. However! During the pandemic and as winter approaches, they're one of the few places downtown that's really made the effort to create a winter-appropriate outdoor patio. They've replaced all their heaters this year, put up a plexiglass windbreak all around the patio, but not done anything stupid like creating an entirely enclosed tent or something that wouldn't allow free airflow. So this is now one of the only safe options downtown for socializing, and they're doing a really good job and putting a lot of effort into making sure it's safe during the pandemic, and as such I highly recommend it. read more

We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a cold beverage and a little bite to eat. I like this place, it has a good, cozy vibe. Most people were sitting outside on the patio enjoying the sun. We opted to sit inside, but close to the door to enjoy the fresh air from the open door. We ordered grapefruit wheat ale, and a Summer Solstice cocktail. All were delicious and refreshing! We shared a selection of yummy appetizers as well. We ordered pizza rolls, steak bites and the Cajun chicken cheese dip. Everything was amazing! The steak bites were like a delicious little meal and the dip was so yummy! I was pretty impressed with the quality of food here. I expected more average pub fare, but they are really taking it up a notch here. Well done! The service was very good, the server was polite and helpful. No complaints there. I've only ever stopped in here for a drink so I can't comment on the food (yet). I do like the design, layout and decor in Rocky Mountain Icehouse. It's inviting (esp on those cold Edmonton days), and it has lots of space to sit if you are in a group, or if on your own just perch at the bar. I went in one day last week by myself because I just needed a pit stop and even though I'm quite happy to sit myself and do my own thing, the server was super friendly and so were the other patrons. I had great chat with others at the bar and it made me feel like I was in a pub in the UK. The social aspect of this place works, and I do think it's the layout that does it. Along the rear, right of the bar they have movable walls and behind them a room for events and parties or large groups. Plus, they have a really nice patio setup in summer times. Good vibe and location. I think it's patio along Jasper Ave is probably one of the liveliest in the city in the summers. Drinks are fairly priced and there is a good selection. Some of the menu options are good for bar food. We had the Pizza Rolls and thought they were awesome. The Warm Cajun Chicken and Cheese Dip was also good. The music is alot of top 40, or 90s pop. Leaves something to be desired if you like other types of music. read more

We had to stop in on the first nice day in a long time! At first we had to sit inside for a few minutes waiting for a seat. But we got on the patio just in time for our first drink. The patio is small but very nice and comfy. The couches are cool, maybe for a group to sit around and have drinks. To eat at them it is a bit annoying. The place was very busy which kept the server running but she was still great, very friendly. They have a large drink menu, I of course stuck to wine. Which honestly wasn't amazing but I did order the cheapest, so you get what you pay for I guess. The seafood dip is amazing! Flat out no other words AMAZING! The crab cakes are good to. Nice they are not greasy but not the same as the seafood dip. I have to say it is.... $$$. But it is worth it. Hope to go back and try other food sometime! read more

Had lunch here recently with a friend and really enjoyed the attitude of the server. Unfortunately her recommendation wasn't quite what my stomach or tastebuds actually wanted (the crab cake sandwich) but it wasn't actually bad -- just not what I apparently wanted. The chips with dip that came with it was perfect however: it really hit the spot! I was pretty pleased that we were able to get in and out within the hour as lunch hours are pretty limited on workdays. read more

The name certainly won't win any awards, but my first visit to RMI was surprisingly favourable. Inside you'll find modern clean lines mixed in with a woodsy/cabin theme. It sounds corny, but it actually works. I found the atmosphere pleasant. I will say you don't want to be too close to the speakers in the corner though. So be aware of that when you choose a table. You also need to be careful because the natural wood tables are uneven and can put your drink at risk of tipping over, but I guess that is just character. The beer selection has local mixed in with commercial. I think this is pretty standard these days for any type of bar/restaurant so they get a check for beer I can drink, although I personally would like to see some fun/different taps mixed in. The food was decent. I ordered the bbq ribs and they were tender, juicy and fell off the bone. Cooked very well. The bbq sauce tasted like Bulleye at least too me. I'd have to try again to be sure. But if this is the case, not too many points for creativity. The corn was cold and sour. I loved it. The veggies were fine, but the beans had the same bbq sauce in them as the ribs. I didn't think this worked with the beans. I forgot how much it was, but I think something like 21$. It is a bit pricey, but the portions were decent. All in all, the beer selection was ok, the BBQ ribs were hit and miss, and the atmosphere was fun. It's a tough one to rate. 3.5 stars, but not sure it broke the 4 star barrier. I'd recommend trying RMI and will definitely be back again. read more

Stumbled into this place by accident. Just flew in from Montreal on a Sunday night and wondered down Jasper Ave looking for a place to eat. I liked the name so decided to walk in. Awesome decor, really liked it - white trees picture frames on a white brick wall.. The other side with wood fire places. Plenty of places to sit - great comfy bar stools - and that's where I sat for food and a few beverages. They have a very good bottle and draft beer selection - many local brews - I had the Yellowhead - very nice beer! For supper I had the BBQ Ribs - came with corn on the cob and beans... Ok I don't like beans - I forgot to tell her to switch them. The BBQ sauce was amazing, had some bite and the tender ribs - delicious .. Corn was ok and Beans were beans - but hey I don't like beans anyway... Really like the ambiance of this place, friendly staff, great decor and layout and liked the music. Walked in to find the restaurant empty, but it was before noon, so I had my choice of anywhere to sit. I picked the one side booth seating, other side chairs and waited for my friend. The next couple that came in chose to sit next to our table. Am glad the seats aren't too close together so there's a little privacy. There were a few servers and bartender chatting as there wasn't much to do. I got my water promptly and checked out the menu. Some interesting appetizers but I decided to go with the bbq chicken sandwich for $14. My friend had the grilled chicken sandwich and we both had the side salad. The restaurant filled up to about 6 occupied tables with a few larger groups. But the wait for the food was longer than expected for not very busy. The presentation of the salad was nice with the shoestring carrots and dressing on the side. I wasn't sure if it was going to be heavy dressing as it looked thick but it was good. I was hoping for a pulled chicken sandwich but the bbq one was ok. It wasn't really good and it didn't sucked. It was a little better than what I had at a bar at the Fort Lauderdale Best Western. I wouldn't order it again. Service decent but a little slow. The restaurant was on one half and they were moving the wreath decorated barriers to open up the bar side. It would have been better to wait until after the lunch crowd as we had to hear chairs being dragged along the floor. I liked the decor and layout. Washroom was clean and posters posted with the specials adorned the walls. May try it again, but not anytime soon with all the great restaurants around. read more

I had hear that the Rocky Mountain icehouse was a nice new restaurant in downtown so I decided to check it out. The place is very nicely decorated and trendy. There is some good music playing in the background just loud enough to notice. The look reminds me of a skii lodge with all the wood and stonework. The servers were very friendly and helpful. Now onto the food... I had the BBQ pulled chicken sandwich. It was a little sloppy but oh my god so good. A little spicy and nicely seasoned. It's definitely one of the best BBQ chicken sandwiches I have had. The price is a little pricy compared to the other places in the area however it think the quality of the food justifies it. This is going to become one of my new favourite spots for lunch. read more

I had walked by this place many times on Jasper, but finally made a stop for a drink and snack on the patio on a Saturday afternoon. First off, they had $3 pints of craft beer which was a score. The patio space is quite lovely as it looks over Jasper Ave. Food wise, we had the nachos with homemade chips, but it was a definite flop. The homemade chips were not the best fit for nachos (tortillas are much better) as they were getting super soggy and did not hold the cheese and toppings well. I was quite disappointed with the nachos and really hope that they make a change to their menu! We couldn't even finish the nachos and didn't take home the leftovers -- now that's saying a lot. Might come back again for a drink, but maybe not for the food unless I can get some better recommendations of what to order. read more

I'm definitely a fan of this place! I went for a show recently and the sound was fantastic. Love the restaurant/venue hybrid setup - there are plenty of opportunities to relax and to dance! Interior is cozy and cool, without being pretentious. The first time I visited, I ordered a random beer on tap and was grossly offended that it was $9. After having a sip and realizing that it was a craft tap, I was a lot more at ease - it really was a lovely beer - dare I even say $9 worth of lovely. Food seems great, too. Upon visiting again, we tried the nachos and I was intrigued that they were more like potato chips. In any case, a very generous portion and an interesting take on classic nachos - tasted delicious! read more

It's a small-ish menu, but everything is made with care and from scratch. Brunch is always delicious, and happy hour has great deals. The all-season patio is the best! We sat on the patio and it was fabulous. They had umbrellas if u needed to get away from sun. The waitress was great. They have happy hour drinks. too until 6pm. We ended the night here after the Soundtrack festival. It's a bit smaller than I thought it would be, but we were able to snag a table for our large group eventually. Service was great and didn't have to wait long for drinks. We only had the nachos, which was ok but different since they used kettle chips. Can't comment on rest of food but may come back one day to check it out. One last note, they had a great 80s cover band that night and really enjoyed them and had a fun time dancing it up. A coworker and I decided to try this new place that had opened up on Jasper Ave. We enter the restaurant and we are greeted with "Hi Guys!" - that's it. We looked around to see if there was someone that was going to seat us, apparently not. We chose a table; 5 minutes later a waitress dropped off the menus and took our drink orders. The waitress was obviously new, and any question we asked, she didn't know the answer too, like "what dressing is on the house salad?" - Grrr I ordered a diet coke with lime wedges, my friend had water. I was NOT told that each pop was $3.00 so by the time the bill came, that was $12.00; never was I told that there are no refills on pop. :( Total bullshit. I ordered the burger with chips, this was a tasty meal but it was ice cold, my coworker had the chicken sandwich. The chicken was flat and dry. There is no salt and/or pepper on the tables never mind Ketchup. I don't see how this place is going to stay in business for very long if this is the service / food that is served. Though their small menu feels somewhat limited, I still found myself drawn to to two dishes. I was so drawn in fact, that I had to get the server to weigh in to help me decide. She recommended the jambalaya, which as far as I can tell from all of the patrons around me ordering it, must be a specialty of theirs. The food was good, with the star of the dish being the mac & cheese hush puppies. They were just the right amount of cheesy, creamy and breaded. The jambalaya was alright as well. Rocky Mountain Ice House offers happy hour until 7, which means their house red, a cab merlot, is only $4.75, which is good news because it's quite drinkable. I was initially drawn to the place because it wasn't packed to the rafters like every place for the next block. Read into that if you like, I would come here again. read more

The same folks that operate Cask and Barrel run Rocky Mountain Icehouse, I'm told. This makes sense, because the two places seem to share a lot of the same traits! Like at Cask, the space here is lovely. It's one of the nicest rooms to open in Edmonton over the past couple of years. The feel is very urban but with deliberate shout-outs to nature, and well, the Rocky Mountains. Service has been good here in the times that I've visited. The servers are friendly and attentive. The Cajun-inspired food at Rocky Mountain Icehouse is good - better than the food at their sister establishment, by far. I love their macaroni and cheese fritters - little cornmeal balls peppered with macaroni and cheese, deep fried and served with spicy sauces. Their "burger and beer" special offered on Sunday afternoons is exceptional: for $10 you get a (very clearly house made) burger and a glass of Kokanee. Not bad! Additionally, their tomato salad is delicious: a set of tomatoes hollowed out and turned into bruschetta, which you scatter over greens. Finally, the gumbo is consistently good. Definitely give Rocky Mountain Icehouse a try, for the food, service and the room . It would be great to see it get a bit busier, as during the last few visits our table has been pretty lonely. read more

I was here for a get-together on a Tuesday evening, and was pleased to discover that most appies are half-price on Tuesdays. I like the atmosphere of the place, and although it seems small, there is a lot of different kinds of seating. The drink list is huge. I picked two appetizers: the zucchini fritters and the "shake and bake" wings. The fritters were vegan, and crispy on the outside while very soft on the inside. They almost tasted like a spicy falafel. The wings were rather bland, although I liked the coating. I'd come here again for drinks and maybe to try a main dish. read more

The Rocky Mountain Icehouse is another interesting addition to the diverse types of restaurants and pubs on Jasper ave. The slick exterior and trendy design of the bar are instantly appealing but the food leaves a little bit to be desired with clever labeling ("Scooby snacks", "pig nuts") winning out over truly unique or especially tasty food. There is a strong emphasis on style at the Icehouse with a very cool interior, dim lighting and a sleek menu, however the TVs mounted in the corners playing everything from cartoons to TLC throw off the vibe a little bit. It's still a new restaurant so maybe it's still trying to find its identity and its clientele but I feel as though the menu is equally puzzling, presenting a wide variety of home-style and southern foods that don't exactly match the modern/Canadian motif they seem to be going with. This issue is more puzzling than it is bothersome but I think it might be indicative of this new establishment trying to find its footing. The service was excellent at the restaurant and though they seemed a little bit short staffed, the staff that helped my group was very helpful and quick given that he seemed to be serving many tables. Overall, it was a pleasant (if puzzling) experience which wasn't especially memorable but altogether satisfactory. read more

Had dinner here. Took a while for our server to notice us but once she did, service was attentive. We had "Pigs Nuts" and "Scoobie snacks" for appies. Both delicious but the nuts were amazing. I had the fried chicken and fritters. The fritters turned out to be fried mac n cheese balls which were surprisingly delicious ....thankful we didn't order that for an appetizer. The fried chicken was essentially homemade breaded chicken fingers. They were bland and just ok. Tasted the BBQ ribs. Tender, but again, just ok. While Rocky Mountain Ice House has decent drinks, the food is just not good. My husbands meal was cold and we had to send it back. He actually had to ask a second time to get his corn heated because it was ice cold. My burger was mostly bun - the patty was tasty but way too much bun.
