Great place to cure a Saturday hangover. Window seat, sunny patio or if you prefer to hide in a dark corner they will have the perfect spot for you. Booth and table seating are available. We enjoyed brunch and a few drinks before starting a whyte ave adventure. Caesars were on special for $5.50 and mimosas for $3. I ordered the Benny's. It was delicious, eggs were cooked perfectly. I also had to try the "fuck yeah" caesar too as we were told that it won best in town. I love a good caesar and this one did not disappoint.

    Yeah Boy! Sandwich. $14

With the goal of dining el fresco on the first warm day of the year, we were pleased to find patio space tucked in behind the Tavern. Though the outdoor area doesn't get evening sun it was still amazing to finally eat outside. The pub is a bit dive-y but in an unpretentious, laid back kind of way. Come with the same attitude and you won't be disappointed. The food was tasty and clearly some effort put into the pub grub. The options include standard fare like chicken wings, nachos, pizza and sandwiches. Along with a few more unique choices like perogies and sausage. The beer came cold and there was a decent selection of brews. The prices were good especially for Whyte Ave and though the service was a little scattered at times, it was friendly.

This is the XXXL Caesar. My brand new love affair. $16 each. This has 3 ounces of alcohol and an assortment of garnishes!

Some friends had become enamored with the Tavern's XXXL Caesar and had planned a get together specifically for the drinks. Of course who goes to a new pub without checking out the ratings, right? Fellow Yelpers had some good things and bad things to say about the establishment. I will share my experience. The pub has recently experienced a "re-launch" so I am assuming that this means it has come under new management. At this point, I haven't been able to confirm this. It is now one of three pubs owned by the same people. The Tavern is small, but cozy. I like the way that it is laid out. There are TV's for the hockey games etc, but the bartender goes around and takes a vote as to whether the patrons would prefer music, or the volumes turned up on the televisions. The XXXL Caesar is a thing of beauty. It is served in a large mason jar with three ounces of alcohol and almost anything you can imagine to garnish it; olive, pickled onion, garlic, artichoke, bean, celery, dill pickle, pickled egg, lime, lemon, and a grilled cheese sandwich!! There is practically an entire meal skewered onto your drink, so we ordered light when it came to the food. My only complaint was no bacon!! The Tavern tells me they are taking it into consideration though, as I am not the first to suggest it. The menu can seem a little pricey when you first take a look at it. $8 for a half order of nachos and you pay extra for beef, chicken or pulled pork. There were two of us and we couldn't finish the drink and a half order split between the two of us! They did not skimp on the ingredients and the cheese was nicely layered. Our drinking companions had the steak sandwich special ($10) which was a decent sized strip-loin and they both had poutine as their side. Again - decent sized plates for the price. Our server, Candi was lovely and checked in with us often. She left us feeling well taken care of! There seemed to be a lot of hellos and hugs going around. The staff seems to get to know their regulars here. Will I be back - you bet! As with other businesses on Whyte, parking can be an issue. There is metered parking right out front of the Tavern that is free after 6pm, but finding an empty spot can be a chore.

Today I had the most delicious Benny's. I ordered The Beast Benny's and doubled them up now when I have Benny's the yoke needs to be soft and the first ones were not, in fact they were poached hard and I only realized this after I ate one, so I sent them back to be redone, most places would just cook you new ones to replace the ones you didn't eat and serve them to you that way. Not Tavern on Whyte, no they made me a whole new plate so I ended up with 4 new soft yoke Benny's that were perfect. This meant that I now had 5 Benny's with their delicious smash browns. So what did I do, well I ate all the Benny's 3/4 of the smash browns and 3 cups of coffee. My god brunch was perfect absolutely perfect. I suggest that if you are looking for a great breakfast at great prices in a great atmosphere with awesome service then get yourself to Tavern on Whyte.

He really likes beer. He says it tastes like yum

Probably the best i had in the city. The Next Act is non descript with the decor. It does have a nice patio if you are able to snag a spot. Our server was prompt and attentive. Food came out quickly despite the full restaurant. This time I tried The Pyro with habanero cream cheese, bacon, crispy onions, jalapeños, and chipotle mayo. Hubby ordered The Critic - smoked cheddar, bacon, caramelized onions, and bbq sauce Our friend ordered The Scout - jack cheese, chimichurri, crispy onions, avocado, and roasted garlic mayo We all chose the fries as a side. It was delicous. And this time the fries were great and not soggy. My burger was delicious. If you like heat, this one is for you. Both other people at the table enjoyed their burger as well. I saw someone have the mac and cheese, and that looked delicous. However I don't think I can skip the burger and order something else.

We were luck to slide through the front door 15 minutes before the kitchen closed for the night and order a burger to go. We got the Critic with a side of poutine and scurried back to our hotel room with our secured goods. The burger was amazing and exactly what we needed. The patty was substantial with a great crust against the sweetness of the caramelized onions, all between two pillowy soft buns. The burger was also huge, as it was double the size of what you would get an the golden arches. We got back fast enough that the poutine fries were still crunchy with a curds melted into the thick gravy. So happy that The Next Act was open at our moment of need. Forever grateful.

We almost got up and left. Then it took a while for the food to come out even though it appeared like we were the only ones eating. Then we had to go up and ask for the bill and pay because no one was visible. Not impressed at all. It is cute inside and was nicely decorated for Christmas. Food itself was fine. I had the beef dip. They were skimpier on the meat then previously. The fries and the dip were really tasty. My husband had the chicken sandwich It was tasty but the patty seemed a little small. We are not sure if we hit a bad afternoon but we will give it another shot sometime.
