I am not in love with sit on top kayaks and I don't particularly love chop. Moving water? Fine. Rocking back and forth? Ehhhh. We only paddled for about 30-40 minutes because it was so windy. We paddled against the wind to get our bearings, floated/paddled to the other end with the wind, and then worked our arms off paddling back. My husband doesn't really enjoy that type of work out (ha!) so he got out and pulled his 'yak for a bit. I was more determined and paddled the whole way. It's a very chill area (or was in May) but if you wanted to bring a group of folks to paddle and sunbathe and eat some snacks on the shore (which apparently happens in the summer) you'll have a blast. We prefer barren, inclimate weather (seriously) so it was a perfect day for us.

The manager admitted to handling my boat without my consent or knowledge and that it was his right to do so. Owner and manager have refused to compensate for the damages after several months of back and forth emails. Owner tried to get his insurance to pay for the damage but I'm assuming was denied since he has not responded to me for several months. Manager stated they are not responsible for damage to vessel - even if they were the last to handle the boat. First, this is not written into the mooring agreement and if it were, this would be deemed unconscionable. Just absurd.

The drive through the entrance to the parking lot was scenic and well marked. At the lake we met Grace and Wes who outfitted us with life jackets and made sure we knew where to go. We also saw a map of where not to go. They are asking for people to not go near the dam, but that wasn't an issue as there is a ton of open space to explore. The lake was quiet, scenic, and beautiful! Without jetskis, boats, etc we were able to hear birds and fish jumping in the water. The sounds of nature really made it seem like an escape that would only be experienced much further away. The two hours flew by, and we are already planning another trip back.
