We came here after we spent a morning at Sprague Lake at the Rockies. This location at the Boulder Reservoir was one of the few places that still had rental equipment available on our drive back. Most rental places closed by 5 or 6 pm so we were grateful to find this place. We paid $25 for each thing we got - 3 paddle boards and 2 double kayaks for a total of $125. More folks ended up wanting to paddle board so they were flexible with us trading in but said we couldn't trade things in once we got out into the water. It's nice bc in Colorado a lot of places require a rental and then delivery to the actual lake for an additional charge. This place does not bc it's right near the water. The reservoir is big enough so that it's easy to go out pretty far. Great place for quick kayaking or paddle boarding, which we did for an hour and it was enough. The only downsides to this place are that their location on yelp and google are wrong, telling us to drive further past the reservoir so that even when you get into the reservoir area (instead of past it like online sites tell you) the place is still not easy to find with some small flags to demarcate the place. It's not where all the initial gear is that we saw first so that was also a bit frustrating (we had to calll them figure out where they were). Another downside is that the life jackets are just not pleasant - mine smelled like a combination of pee and sweat - it was gross bc it was strong! So they should work to improve those things since it's under their control.

Great place to rent a paddle board or pontoon boat for the family. Friendly staff. Beautiful views.

Great experience at grand lake! Spectacular views, loved the military discount for our whole group. Wakes from the boats give you a challenge. Will be back!

Manager stated they are not responsible for damage to vessel - even if they were the last to handle the boat. Their first concert after covid was terrible. I didn't attempt to order food, as I could hear everyone complaining that they ordered food an hour an half ago, and still had received it yet. This was the first time they ever had an opening band-which was terrible. At 8pm we left and the band (we bought tickets for) hadn't started to play yet. I contacted Pelican Bay and asked for a refund, or credit b/c they advertised the Buckstiend was starting at 7pm, at 8pm they still weren't on stage. I get this was the first concert of the season, and there were hiccups, which is why I was okay with credit. They never responded to my request-just ignored me, so I challenged the charge with my credit card company, I am not sure why they are surprised, I did contact Pelican Bay first on two separate occasions. I am now banned from their facility and being refunded, not for the Buckstein tickets I purchased, but for the upcoming concert tickets, I already purchased tickets for. WOW, seems a little over the top, they could have just called me back or responded to my email, and apologies for the kinks. I feel like Erik is a 13-year girl, and I am her mother who just told her, her skirt was too short.

This year we went down at 10am to beat the crowds and all the kayaks were rented. By 10:30 we were on the water but it can be busy. People are nice taking your money. 3hrs in a single kayak costs around $75 plus tax. Not cheap but worth it. They offer life jackets and surly service on the dock. Located right off the beach on the east end of town and next to the marina coffee shop. Easy access and not much parking at the marina. Use the public lots.

A young man who was very nice helped us get on, he explained that we should stay 150 yards away from the shore to avoid any damage to the boat/propeller. We did exactly that, because it was literally our first time and we were very afraid of causing any damage. Upon return to the dock, a young employee was very matter of fact with a very stern expression and demeanor, telling us that we damaged the propeller. He did ask us if we recall hitting anything, and we did not... He then began to explain that we obviously did because the propeller was damaged and we were gonna have to pay for it. He then started throwing out numbers for the cost of the replacement. We were very adamant that we did not hit anything or go towards the shore as instructed. We asked for a manager, and Kevin Cox, the very confrontational manager, came walking out, holding the propeller up to my face, telling my husband and I that this is damage that we caused! He then began telling us that we are gonna pay for it, end of story! When I gave a rebuttal, telling him that I felt like this was a scam, he began to tell me that he knows for a fact that we drove near the shore! He began to make a scene and try to shame us in front of other customers... And when we responded, telling him he was full of it... He then called the police and told the police that we were causing a "verbal disturbance". We feel that he knew that the police could not force us to pay for the part so that was his cause for making an accusation of "verbal disturbance "! At that point, my husband said "let's go! "... Kevin Cox replied, "oh you're gonna leave, that means I have to go with you!"We walked about 3/4 of a mile and he followed the entire way. At that point, we sat down on a park bench... And he just stood there. We finally just got up and told him to quit following us and he stayed behind as we took off. We circled back around and to get our vehicle which was parked on their property... And saw a police officer there. We flagged the officer down, to speak with him about the matter. The officer was very courteous and friendly, and remained neutral. He did say that it was a possibility that we did cause the damage and didn't feel it, or know it and that Kevin Cox was probably going to charge our credit card for the cost of the propeller...he also stated that if we dispute the charges, he could potentially take us to Small Claims Court! It was a good thing I video recorded Fred's demeanor and him following us because I was able to show the police officer who let us walk because we did nothing wrong. Horrible customer service, a big time scam, by the way, the propellers are plastic... Which I believe is why they are easily damaged... But Kevin Cox told us that we were lucky it was plastic because if it was metal, it would cost double the amount!! ‍

Things to know. 1. if in summer, even on weekdays you will need to call and make your reservations in advance. Most likely they will not have boats available if you just do a drop in. You are able to call and reserve 14 days in advance. 2. the amounts of people allowed in the boats are different than what is on their website. it is actually less now for some reason???? not sure what that is. but hopefully they update it to be accurate at some point soon. 3. The prices listed on the website is for the boat only. It does not include gas. 4. They had half day or all day rentals available. 5. If you want to pull a tube behind, the tubes they sell in the marina span between $150-$260!!! YIKES. You will also need a tow rope and y line and that will add another $70. I called all over to see if there was a place that would rent these items and the answer is no :( We used one of our river tubes from home and well it was not the BEST but the girls made the most of it. 6. when you get there you go down around back of the marina and go to the building with the blue roof to check in at. 7. you can bring food and beverages on the boats, but if you make too much of a mess you will get charged a cleaning fee. 8. they will hold your drivers license and credit card while you are out on the boat. 9. They do give a you a boat talk to tell you how to make the boat run. The fellas down at the dock where very friendly. They were helpful and really made everyone feel comfortable. They helped us figure out how to tie our tube on even though it was not quite what they are used to. They also hooked up our y hook up and towline. 10. After you done, you will want to go up to the marina to pay. They take your stuff up there. That was not totally clear and i was hanging around down at the dock. You can paddleboard and kayak down below the marina if you want. You are not supposed to swim in the lake except at the swim beach.
