My friends & I found this place searching through Google, craving some American-style food after eating Mexican cuisine for a few days, and BBQ sounded great! We were hesitant at first. We weren't sure if BBQ from another country could make us feel at home, but we were in for a happy surprise! This was some of the best BBQ I've had! My friend even said, "Wow, I had to come all the way to Mexico to get some good BBQ." (We live in Phoenix). Who would've known! The meat fell right off the bone, it was tender, and well seasoned; and sides were delicious as well! Whenever we're in Mexico again, we'll definitely stop by again!

This place is small and cozy and has outdoor patio in back.. we ordered Family BBQ sampler, huge plate with great sized portions of Chicken and Ribs.. 2 ears corn, n seasoned french fries.. also got the bbq sammich.. They have 5 or 6 sauces to try, but honestly, the food was great and added sauces were not needed.. Ribs were my favorite, great flavor, fall off bone type stuff.. will stop by here everytime we're in town... BYOB, if you feel like having a cerveza..

This is the best Mexican food in Rocky Point!! Everything is made fresh to order. Award wining BBQ sauces, I recommend the apricot habanero. Fantastic experience for us! The food looked just like the photos I saw online and tasted even better than they looked! My wife's pulled pork sliders were excellent with several selections of BBQ sauce (try the strawberry, addictive). My Cubano was better than most that I've tried in Miami, FL. Far and above the very best BBQ in Rocky Point and Arizona. Today we feasted on brisket, pork ribs and pulled pork complemented by four different house made BBQ sauces. The cornbread is an amazing family recipe. Great coleslaw too. They were out of the pork belly so we will be back in a day or two to indulge in that! read more

This was so good, found it through a business card in tequila factory and decided to try it for dinner. Genuinely the best decision of our trip. The food was not only extremely tasty, (we tried four items the pulled pork slider, the big dog daddy, st Louis pork ribs, and nachos) but was also very well priced. The employees were very attentive and super friendly, definitely the best service we've had in Puerto penasco and it's local family owned. I'd like to put a picture of the food here but we all cleaned our plates and the seconds we ordered to take home were obliterated before I remembered to write this review. Highly recommended! Honestly makes the drive down worth it by itself. read more

Discovered this place while doing a Yelp search for BBQ. Tried out this restaurant over the summer and have been back 3X's now. Food is delicious; especially love the corn bread and it's become one of my faves about this establishment. Food is fresh, tasty and very filling. The service is fabulous. The Food is Phenomenal Here!! Been coming to Puerto Penasco for 20+ years. Lots of restaurants come and go. This BbQ restaurant is a must!! Large portions of meat at every meal! And the service is Fantastic! They are very accommodating. A little hard to find at first, but once you know where this restaurant is you will definitely be coming back! I really can't say enough good things... I will be definitely coming back! read more

Texas BBQ in Rocky point Mexico? Sounds unbelievable but it's unbelievably good, but it's unbelievably true. This is one of the best barbecues that we've eaten at and we've eaten at barbecues in Texas and Kansas City and Arizona. The pork belly and the ribs were fantastic. We were really sorry that we were not going to be able to eat breakfast because they were closed the morning we were leaving. When you are tired of eating street tacos and Mariscos of questionable sanitation, this is the place to come for fantastic barbecue. read more

Heard about this place from a friend who says it is really good so we went. A party of us arrived about 4:15 to an empty room. Our table ordered a pulled pork sandwich, two plates of baby backs and one plate of St. Louis ribs. It took a little over an hour to get our dinners but I really believe that there was only one person working! My St. Louis ribs were the weirdest cut I have ever see. I has two ribs that were the cartridge end, not much meat. They had a sauce on them that really didn't have any flavor but made them hard to pick up because they were so slick. They were also on the "warm" side and not hot, likewise with the beans and cornbread. The ladies said the baby backs were ok but nothing special. My friends pulled pork was dry and didn't look like any pulled pork I have seen. Those that had the coleslaw said it was very good. Maybe I am to critical but I have been in Q joints all across the south plus smoke meats myself. The different sauces were different but if they want you to try them, why sauce the meat straight out of the kitchen? Just a thought read more

Had lunch here today and I was not disappointed. Their bbq has that great smoky taste and they give you extra sauces to try from sweet to mild kick. I tried them all and each had its own special taste. We had the family BBQ plate which comes with baby back ribs, chicken, corn on the cob, French fries and cornbread. I am so full and still had to take a to-go box. To top things off, this is a family owned restaurant and the entire family is there working and greeting you. Service was top notch. Will definitely come back over and over. read more

Barbecue was decent and the portions were good. My biggest complaint isn't really a complaint. They have some really tasty, unique sauces. In particular the blackberry bourbon and the apricot Chipotle. But when they bring the meat out it's drenched in generic sauce. I asked the young man who waited on us about that, and his response was "some people like their sauce warm". If so, ask people up front if they want it sauced. Or let them choose a sauce. Otherwise the best part of your food is being wasted. read more

This place rocks! We went for the first time and loved it so much we were back just a few days later. The food is excellent and the service is as well. Everything is made from scratch so order a beer, sit back, and relax. The garden in back is a great outdoor spot to eat. We have our favorites for tacos, aguachiles, etc, but RPBBQH is now firmly entrenched in the rotation. read more

I finally had a chance to stop by Rocky Point BBQ for dinner this evening. Being from Kansas City, I am kind of a barbecue snob. Having said that, I was pleasantly surprised with the great barbecue. Of the many different types of BBQ offered, I chose the pulled pork sandwich. It was very tasty. They had a large selection of different degrees of home made barbecue sauce. Everything was fantastic. The best part of the visit for me was meeting the owner Jesus and his wonderful family. They were very kind and gracious people that made me feel welcome. The service was fantastic. It's quickly become one of my favorite spots for authentic grilled chicken. The chicken is the star of the meal--juicy, flavorful, and cooked over a charcoal grill that gives it an amazing smoky flavor. The rice and beans are also very authentic and pair perfectly with the chicken. My only minor critique is that the beans were a little soupier than I personally prefer, but they still tasted great. The macaroni salad was the only item that didn't really stand out. It wasn't bad, but it lacked seasoning and flavor compared to everything else on the plate. A couple of things to know before you go: it's cash only, so be sure to bring pesos or usd. It's also an outdoor-style restaurant with covered seating, and because the chicken is cooked over an open charcoal grill, the dining area can get fairly smoky. It definitely adds to the authentic experience, but it's something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to smoke. Overall, the food is delicious enough that I came back a second time during the same trip. While there are a few small areas for improvement, the flavorful chicken and authentic sides make Pollo Lucas a spot I'll definitely visit again the next time I'm in Rocky Point.
