My experience at Rocky Point GC is great. The staff are nice and always welcoming when I come out for a round. They have a driving range next to the parking lot and a putting range between hole 1 and hole 10. The carts are good, beware though that if it's a rainy day that the carts don't have windshield or golfbag covers. The course is challenging and bring extra balls because there is lots of water on the back nine and rough boarders that will consume your golf ball if you roll or land in them. Holes 15 through 18 will test your abilities to keep your golf ball in play. I throughly enjoy playing this course read more

Nice public golf course near Tampa International Airport it was 44 degrees out today so getting a tee time was easy. The course is a bit beat up. Possibly due to the weather. Range balls were scattered all over the 10th hole making it extremely difficult to retrieve our golf ball. Being that the place was pretty much empty today staff should have done a better job at clearing the fairway. I'd like to play here again when the weather is much warmer read more

Came to golf with two friends on a Sunday. Everyone was courteous and welcoming, our tee time was 2:20, and we started right on time. A beautiful course and a fun Sunday activity. I saw lots of birds including anhingas, ibis, osprey, a tri colored heron, great blue herons, and more! They have a snack/drink cart that sells refreshments. The fairways were in really bad condition. Mostly sand and dirt with very little useable grass. The tee boxes were in incredibly bad condition. Uneven and no grass. The bunkers were a dirt/sand mix with no fluff. Greens were fast (which was actually surprising). Golf cart came complete with cigarette burns. The layout is actually great with lots of potential but the course was just in really bad condition and they charged $56 to play the round. Had I known the conditions I would have gone somewhere else. read more

The worst golf course in Tampa. It's pretty embarrassing that this is the quality of golf people get when flying in from out of town. Rocky point is the closest course to the airport and when someone wants to get a quick round in it's sad to say this is what you have to choose from. There are dead patches and craters on every green. The fairways aren't cut and in some areas plays like it's the rough, anything outside of the fairway is bare backyard grass with sand underneath, the bunkers are washed out and not maintained. The fact that they charge $50 is outrageous, most of the course isn't even playable. Public courses should be help to a higher standard these conditions should not be excepted by golfers. read more

Very very tight course. Almost every par 3 felt like hitting on an island green it seemed like. Fairways and tee boxes we're pretty chewed up, but could certainly be worse. Rocky Point is a solid choice for a local municipal golf course. Morning tee times with a cart run $40 The layout of the course is excellent, challenging green placements guarded by bunkers. The issue with the course is the maintenance, weeds and rough tee boxes abound. The carts are in excellent shape. The folks who work there were great. The course has a short range and practice green. Courteous and prompt service provided here for a Saturday round of golf. We thought that the teeoffnow.com price was very good for the value received but would not want to pay regular greens fees at least not this time of year. Course was challenging and we appreciated following a large group outing who were constantly forgetting to pick up their balls along the way . We not only got to play 18 holes but gained a dozen brand new Callaway balls along the route lol We would play this course another time. read more

My husband and I had a very nice time here. The service was friendly and efficient. However, you more or less get what you pay for. The course wasn't in the best shape, and there was no ranger to regulate play speed. But if you are looking for a laid back round and are in no hurry, this is a nice spot for a fair price. read more

Golf course is like playing on parking lot. Hit a ball dead center into the fairway, most likely it's in dirt. The tee boxes barely have grass on them. The greens have large divots everywhere. This course isn't kept up at all. Pace of play is VERY slow. May be one of the worst courses to play in Tampa. read more

So thankful for this affordable golf course and driving range! The course conditions are inconsistent but that challenge helps me improve my game. It's near the airport. I just went to the range to hit a few, before my flight. You can only hit off the mat . A small bucket will cost 5 dollars. I didn't have any clubs, but they allowed me to use a club (7), provided I leave my DL with them. Not a problem. The range is a little ratty. No cover, fewer seats... It is what it is... considering there are way better other choices to select from. I didn't play the couse, but from the looks of the 1st and the 10th; which is just outside the clubhouse, it looks pretty wide and flat. If I am a local and I live across the street, perfect. That will be as close to living in a golf community without HOA fees... Anyway, thanks for readying. read more

Friendly pro shop walking in, and a cost-effective way to improve your game on a real golf course. Not too much foliage and landscaping, but there are some challenging holes for high-to-mid handicappers. I got to walk the course and hit a small bucket of balls, all for $20 after 3:30pm! Will definitely come back and play another round soon. read more

Just had the displeasure of playing 9 holes here. The guy running the pro-shop (Dave I think) is a miserable jerk-off. I showed up minutes after our tee-time and they refused to give us a golf cart even though the lady on the phone said we would be able to. Don't even get me started on the condition of the course. It looks like the maintenance is run by a bunch of middle schoolers who don't know how to cut grass. Fairways in disgusting condition, completely soaked and would plug every shot, even on a dry day like today. Greens in horrible condition, felt like I was putting on a thick carpet full of marks and bumps. Not to mention the course is surrounded by a bunch of busy roads which pairs for a pretty hectic golf experience. Unbelievably bad service and an unbelievably bad golf course. Will not be returning. read more

Hovering around $50 for 18 holes is an absolute joke for this course. I only ever go here because it's close by, but I regret it every time. Near the airport and surrounded by roads with heavy traffic. if you want quiet in your backswing, then don't come here. Every time I come here it gets backed up so I get even more time to soak in all the noise I payed $50 to listen to. It also floods like no other course. Do not come here after it rains. Even if it's been dry for 2 weeks you can expect randomly mushy spots just outside of the green. Won't be going here any longer until they start charging an appropriate price and I suggest you all do the same. read more

They do a very bad job of spacing out Tee Times and it's insanely overpriced for the quality. Tried to play 18 and took us 3 hours and when I asked to see if we could get a rain check I was told to pound sand. There are plenty of better courses. The driving range is usually on mats and they could actually do more harm for your swing and your clubs. Waste of money and time read more

My friend and I golfed Rocky Point yesterday and was having a decent time on the course until our cart died on hole 15. The cart was slow from the get go and it extended the round by more than what we anticipated. After our cart died we tried to reach employees at the course and to no avail we didn't get ahold of anyone. I spoke to a reservation assistant and she tried to reach someone at the clubhouse or restaurant and she couldn't get anyone either. We were not the last ones on the course but had to pack up our cart and walk the last four holes. I'm not very happy with the experience and will be second guessing going back to Rocky Point. read more

Awesome place to play golf! Not a lot of trees here, so it's easy to keep track of your golf ball. Golf carts are golfer-friendly, too. Rates are reasonable but should come down now that summer is coming. Conveniently located, this is one of my favorite courses. The clubhouse has great food, mainly sandwiches. Sometimes they have burgers or other hot foods. Friendly people work there, too. The golf shop sells golf balls so you don't need to bring your own. The next time you want to go golfing, try Rocky Point Golf Course for a fun day on the greens. read more

Left car keys in a cart - after a handful of friendly interactions, the pro shop refused to write down my phone number and explained that they would not notify me if they were found and said I should call every few hours for next couple of days. Terrible course, poorly maintained, and rude staff. Do not recommend playing here. read more

After being greeted by an empty club house I looked around for a for someone to help me. My father asked the bartender if we were to pay at the bar for golf, since this was the only person who looked to be working. Then the only guy at the bar informed we pay upfront, he was the missing worker we'd been looking for. Right away he started treating us rude, acting like paying at the bar was a stupid thought. I had looked online and saw that the tee times were wide open around this time, so I thought it'd be a great time for my 4 kids to try out their new clubs and get a chance to golf with their Grandpa, parents and friend. I told the man I'd love to get 2 foursomes, 3 adults, 5 juniors. One cart per group since we only had 3 drivers, and I figured the kids could walk. The worker seemed almost pissed that I wanted to bring kids to the course or something I did seemed to really upset him. I asked him if there is some I did to piss him off, he assured me there wasn't anything I did and then continued to ask me if we have 5 juniors. I said yes. After a good couple minutes of trying to compute a price, he said $78 dollars please. Perfect I thought, this guy is kind of an ass but at least he's hooking us up and not charging full price for the kids, realizing they are young and the course wasn't busy. WRONG... that's just for the first foursome he said as I handed him a $100. What, who gives half prices. Then the the next foursome took a few more minutes to compute and that was $86. Ok $164 for 9 holes, 2 carts isn't awful, but definitely not sustainable with 4 young boys. The whole time this guy continued to be rude and we started taking some jabs at him, acting as if this was the only golf course in town and they are just fighting for our business. His manager then justified his rude behavior because the manager said it's his fault, he rides the workers too hard. You can work hard and not be and ass...and he was at the bar when we got there. We managed to still have a great time on a swamp of a course in very poor condition. I got to teach the kids a good lesson, that just because people are unhappy and aren't always nice to people, don't let them ruin your day or round of golf. Unfortunately I will probably be back because this place is so close to the house, I won't bring guests back here and I will look for a more kid friendly place in the mean time. I will learn this guy's name, call a head, if he's working I won't come at that time. ***The first time I was here there was another gentleman that was so helpful. He said he'd work with me if I brought the boys, so I will try to see if I can find out when he works. read more

Do not go here the staff are liars and cheats. I was accused of cursing at the staff which is an absolute lie! The Manager said I flipped people off when I asked for proof he said he had witnessed it. WTF I have never been anything but cordial to all staff there. Clearly they are liars and cheats and will accuse you of breaking or ruining something for money! I turned over all my remaining tokens for the range to that liar and left! If you work in the airport area of northwest Tampa, then this is a great track to grab a quick 9. Only 15 bucks after 5 o'clock. Can be challenging for high handicappers, as most of the fairways are tight and require a proper shaped shot or lay up and the greens are small-medium sized, so taking a longer iron for your second is tough. I love the challenging dynamics of this course and the risk/reward design. Preface this condition review with context: Most of mid Florida is under severe drought. The conditions here now are very very very very very dry. Like a popcorn fart. The greens are like concrete, your approach must be very high and spin to be able to hold. Fairway conditions are about the same. Dry and hard, with invasive grasses creating precarious lies. I truly can't wait to play this course after we get some rain, or they start watering! Either way I don't have a choice because it's on the way home. read more

First, I want to say that I love this golf course. I've always had fun at Rocky Point; it's fun and challenging and it's in great shape. I've never had an issue with playing here and the staff has always taken great care of me. However, this was not the case on February 9th, 2020. My buddy and I had a pairing set for 7:20am, as we had plans for the rest of the day and wanted to get done pretty quickly. We showed up at 7 and got squared away at the pro shop. Everything running smoothly per usual. We go out to meet the starter and are instantly met by this man with the nastiest attitude. We greet him and don't get a response. My buddy and I ask if he "minds if we jump ahead to Hole 3?" as there already appears to be a traffic jam as there were multiple groups already out. Hole 3 was wide open. He nods his head. I take that as a yes that we can jump ahead. So we jump into our cart and start hauling it towards the hole to make sure we stay ahead. As we pass him, we give him a nod, but he yells for us to stop and asks where we're going. We say we're going to 3. He replies with, "no you're not." I say, "sir we just talked about this and you nodded your head yes and didn't say another word, we thought we were good to go" He replied with "I don't care, I'm telling you you're going to 1 and that's it." Now I stop here to ask you who are reading this, what kind of customer service and interaction you would expect to receive. If he didn't want us to jump ahead of everyone, that's fine, but how about using words instead of nodding and grunting at us until we were passing by. I always treat the RP staff with respect and would expect to receive the same in return. We decide to let it go and head to 1. We then proceeded to play right behind 3 groups and waited probably 10 minutes per hole. We make it to the turn and park at the club house and right next to the starter station. We run in for a couple waters and come back out within 5 minutes. As my buddy and I are driving up to the tee, he is telling another group that they can go ahead and start on 10. Again, I stop and ask you how these guys starting on 10 is any different than us asking to jump ahead of the groups earlier in the morning? The starter says "Oh, I didn't see you" and turns to the guy and says get going. We were parked right next to him. He saw us. We obviously protest, but the starter walked away ignoring us. It's become very apparent the starter does not like us. I've played a lot of courses, both public and private, and never have I ever encountered someone as rude and unprofessional as that starter. I can say for sure, that if these are the people that Rocky Point Golf Course is going to employ to manage their course, then my friends and I will be playing elsewhere moving forward. This is one of the better public golf courses that I've played on anywhere. Considering that it is summer and we haven't had the usual amount of rain, this course was in excellent shape. Aside from a couple of patches in a few of the greens, the greens were rolling pretty true. The fairways here are pretty tight for the most part. There's a good mix of long/short par 4's. I like how this course gives you the option of using many clubs off of the tees. Water hazards are in play on a lot of the holes, but that's Florida, right? It was $37 to tee off at 10:00AM on a Sunday morning. Course traffic was pretty low, surprisingly. I am sure I will be back here again. read more

The course is alright for what you pay for, but my big problem is the driving range. They put in an artificial turf mat that's nice, but the it's not thick at all. I don't like my tee sitting that high, so I can't practice driving at all now at this place. Oh well, just drive a little further to another course... read more

I play at rocky point almost everyday and most of all the staff know me and they are fantastic but there is one staff member who makes this place a buzz kill she came at me with an attitude for asking if we can join a duo who said they were fine with it and when we called to set a firm tee time she got even angrier and gave me a whole attitude and when I got upset she told me to "cut the attitude" and I was done I have mad respect for all the staff who work hard to make this place the place it is and all they do but can't deal with a person who continually gives me an attitude while I'm trying to PAY YOU for a round of golf, I'm very disappointed and hope things get solved. read more

The course was in pretty good shape.The sand and fairways were below average but for the price it was still a good deal. The greens were in good shape This is a good course for beginners or people trying to work on their game with out losing loads of balls. There is very little in the way of water hazards and the fairways are wide open. Make sure you come warmed up because it is a bring your own ball driving range An enjoyable course for a muni. Nice layout with tees for all levels of play. Nice bent greens where you could make putts. Not your typical Florida course with lateral hazards on every hole, which allows you to play your wayward shots as opposed to reloading from the tee and losing golf balls. Decent variety of holes with only an occasional forced carry. Reasonable rates and walking is allowed. Worth trying read more
