The lobby of Tru was very welcoming, with an unusual main desk at the center of things instead of tucked away against a wall. There was lots of seating in this area to enjoy the included breakfast (the automatic pancake machine, oh my god so good) and to hang out or wait for others to meet up. Foosball table, large television, etc. The rooms were equally as inviting. Lots of natural light but with the ability to really black things out in the room with a roll down curtain. The non-carpeted flooring was a nice, modern change. Beds were very comfortable, sheets clean, spacious layout, flat screen tv, mini fridge, etc. In-ground indoor pool was a nice option to have during our stay. Didn't seem all that popular among the guests staying at the same time as me since it was always empty but appreciated none-the-less. The hotel itself is situated in a concrete jungle so though there was a small outdoor seating area, don't expect much ambiance in terms of the outdoor space. Located next to a gas station, food store, and some strip mall restaurants - this hotel is convenient, serviceable, and an excellent option if you are in need of a place to stay in the middle of Delaware.

When I had settled on where I would be going I had hurried to book a hotel I was familiar with. However, that hotel was not available. Wanting to be in the same area, I decided a nearby hotel would be good enough. Gold Leaf Hotel was the first place I thought of after my initial hotel was not available. Booking was fairly simple. Showing up was a breeze. Checking in was a bit of a hassle. But let's get into it. Will mix the good with the bad, a true look at this establishment. When I came to check in I was not sure where to park, so I just took a chance and parked near the lobby to run in and check in. There was a little bit of a slow down here. Trying to find my reservation, going through the rules on the hotel, WiFi, yadda yadda yadda. A highlight here is that the parking is integrated into the building. Seeing how this was going to be my first question after check in they were ready for it. Each floor of the hotel has a dedicated floor of parking. Some spots can be tight, but there are ample spots. You must know your license plate upon check in and hang a tag in your vehicle for the duration of your stay. But being able to drive up to the floor where your room is was a nice touch. Depending on where your room is may dictate where you will park. Finally out of my vehicle I took the few steps to the door and made my way to the room. Once there, my keys would not work. All I did was put them in my pocket with my wallet and make my way to the room. I had to make my way downstairs to get new keys and was made to feel like I deactivated them myself. I had them nowhere near my phone or have a magnet on me. A little bit of a hassle without the need for it. Finally in my room I was pleasantly surprised to see I had a corner room. The room felt like a wide open space, a nice touch. I chose a single which was more than enough for me. I have seen that others were a bit irked by the fact that they chose a room with two or three beds and then complain about the absence of space in the room. Along with the bed I had a table with two chairs, futon, dresser, armoire, fridge, microwave, and AC unit. All great amenities for any hotel. Some I didn't use at all, but others were definitely needed. I had a bit of a tiff with the fridge as no matter what I did, whatever I put in there came out frozen. Thankful for the microwave with that one. The AC unit is controlled by a remote, so be sure to grab that upon entry into the room. But the best thing in this room were the French doors. Technically you do not have a balcony, but having these as part of the room is amazing. I was able to have them open to let in the air. However, they don't always stay open I had to use my bags to prop them. It also allowed you to eavesdrop on the live music that might be coming up the street from one of the bars. The shower, that was a big downfall to me. They are spacious, but the shower just did not work for me. The shower was a walk in one, but the water never stayed in that direct area. The shower curtain wasn't weighted and it felt like a fight each time I used it. I threw hands at that curtain a few times as it was annoying to have the curtain stick to you as you are trying to clean yourself. The overall room was good, but there are signs of wear and tear. Being near the beach and bay you will see rust from the salt water. The carpeting was questionable, never walked around barefoot in here. Then there was the other things in this hotel. The coffee machine was out of order (I don't drink coffee but I took notice). The vending machines were very overpriced. There is laundry available, but I wouldn't take that chance. Then the elevator, yikes. When I first got here they must have just done some work on the tiling in the elevator. It made it hard to maneuver your suitcase in it. That was corrected by the next day. But that thing kind of scared me. It jolted when it would move. Staff, best way to describe them, dry. I felt like I was bothering them whenever I needed to ask for something. It was a simple ask and I did not feel welcome. It's a decent place to stay. But when I come to this part of the Delaware beaches, it is not my first choice.

If the pool is closed down, it's time for the fire in my opinion. I will absolutely book here again.

The ONLY plus of our stay and the only reason I'm giving 2 stars was the kind gentleman (8/8/24 in the evening) at the front desk who gave us extra blankets and refilled our hand soap for us. As an IHG member who travels for work, this is my least favorite hotel I've stayed in! Super bummed to have to find a new place.

It's…read more11:12 pm as I'm writing this and there's a guy collecting trash in the parking lot outside with a very loud gas leaf blower. We requested a room on the top floor and when we arrived were told this preference wasn't known because our reservation doesn't include it. We were told we should have called ahead to ensure the preference could be met. I called IHG and they saw the preference in their computer system. Both front desk staff admitted they were aware of potential discrepancies between their system and the IHG one and blamed the IHG reservation system and us for not calling to ensure our room preference could be met. The top floor is a standard request for me and other Holiday Inns I stay at have been able to view and honor the request. The rooms we've had have been extremely noisy from adjoining rooms and from traffic, people talking in the parking lot, and now leaf blowers at night. Inexplicably, our sink has only very mildly tepid water however the shower provides scalding hot water; the temperature is slow to adjust so we let it run until it reaches a comfortable temperature between freezing and scalding. There is a coffee maker that takes coffee pods but no pods; there are tea bags though. There is one rectangular box of Kleenex on top of a square Kleenex box. Breakfast has been a disappointment with runny eggs, greasy, burnt mini omelets, and grainy, flavorless, gray sausage patties. There are tiny, pasty-white, rubbery pancakes that ooze / fall out of the machine. The coffee in the lobby was good, strong and flavorful. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. Staff is friendly. Our stay was free because I redeemed rewards points however it should still be comfortable and a haven for rest and it was not. Had it been quieter and we didn't have to endure people stomping around overhead, our experience and this review would have been much more positive. As a result of my complaining to the front desk staff, a significant amount of IHG rewards points were refunded to my account; for this reason, I'm rating this hotel as a 3. I am reluctant to try staying here again but other people seem to have very positive experiences. If we do stay again, I will indicate our preferences and call ahead and provide an updated review.

Requested extra sheets for the sofabed, and a bagged set with a pilllow was ready in the lobby (had to pick it up though). Checkout was quick. Includes complete hot breakfast in the morning - with bacon, sausages, 2 types of eggs, pancake maker (which was making gigantic ones that morning), and other breakfast items.

If you are a guest you get a free breakfast. The breakfast is nothing special by the way. There were eggs, sausages, cereal, bagels and oatmeal and a few other things. I participated in the free breakfast for my first day there and I was not impressed at all. It was the same when I stayed at another Hyatt place in another state. The eggs were pretty bad and the plates, bowls and silverware I first picked up were all dirty. I had to go through 2-3 to finally not get a dirty one. There is a pool and a gym in this hotel which is great. I did not go swimming while staying here but saw the pool area. I did not get to see the gym though. The room as you can see from pics are spacious and have a little living room like area with a couch. And a little wall that kind of separates it. This hotel is located right in Dewey and is very walkable to the great bar/ restaurant scene. I would stay here again if need be.

My mom and I were sleeping in different beds and both of us could not sleep due to how itchy and scratchy the sand was, on top of feeling like we were sleeping on dirty sheets. When we brought this up to the front desk, they said they could give us new sheets, so we put new sheets on top of these soiled sheets. This wasn't a viable solution but that was the best they could do. I would expect a beach hotel would have better cleaning for sand soiled bedding and would pay more attention to sand but I guess not. Overall this was a pretty disappointing experience. Paying hundreds for two dirty beds was completely unexpected. The only redeemable quality of this hotel was the free EV chargers which we took advantage of for our Tesla and the continental breakfast which was delicious. But it's hard to enjoy anything when you didn't get good sleep the night before.

So I decided to stay about 45 minutes away in Rehoboth Beach where hotels were affordable. Check-in was easy. Customer service was great. I was informed of the refundable $100 security deposit and paid at the desk. Tip: fill out the parking waiver online before check-in to speed up check-in. I filled mine out beforehand and only spent about five minutes at check-in. The room was nice! Spacious, clean and well-stocked. The hotel has a gym on the second-floor. It also features a pool. Pros: Fire-pit outdoors Free breakfast Free coffee and tea always Free onsite parking Walking distance to Tanger Outlets Very friendly staff. They greet you as you enter and exit. Cons: Thin walls Hotel staff was loud in the morning while cleaning rooms. This hotel is amazing! I definitely recommend for your stay in Rehoboth Beach or Ocean City.
