We tried all the empanadas : chicken, beef, and spinach-cheese and they were excellent. Super-flaky and big and tasted great. We also got the beef short ribs and they were tender the way i needed. The bbq chicken and pork rib combo is another great dish. The Pork cubes dish has plenty of chorizo with loin chunks and sauteed veggies. Everything came with a brocolli, cauliflower and carrot medly that was cooked perfectly. I hate overcooked veg, and these were just right. The rice side dish was large and fluffy and I kept going back for more of the black beans side. This place is worth a return, the standouts being the garlic chicken and crispy empanadas.

From the spicy sweet bbq sauce to the perfectly smoked ribs and pulled pork sandwiches topped with coleslaw to balance it so well that i can actually say this is the best bbq I have had in a long time. We drove by it and missed it because We were expecting brick and mortar in a not so good location. Boy was I wrong... Food truck and outside sitting next to the smoker. It doesn't matter where they are. It doesn't matter it's outside sitting next to the Rahway prison. The food speaks for itself. The ribs are not falling off the bone as a good smoked rib should be. Tender but still put together... The sauce on top and a lot of napkins. Heaven! The pork has a little crunch to it that as I'm writing this I'm thinking of going to my fridge and get the left over sandwich I'm saving for lunch tomorrow. Can't wait to try the chicken and some side dishes. Collard greens, cornbread, etc. I should be back there next weekend. Rodgers did not want to give me his spicy sauce recipe... Rodger was there as advertised. We weren't sure since we spotted it on google and it was a mid Sunday afternoon between lunch and dinner. We ordered the $25 combo plate which had fall apart pulled pork, super tender and tasty ribs, juicy chicken, a sausage some corned bread and we ordered the beans and slaw sides. We ate in the little picnic area behind the trees in the shade. Everything was excellent and we both filled up on the shared plates. We struck up a nice conversation with mr Rodgers and he was compelled to have us try his rice and beans on the house. Overall great experience. His homemade lemonade for $2 bucks is better than the sodas. We ordered some pound cake on the way out but are saving that for dinner. Highly recommend. read more

The best soul food in town!!! I've been eating here since it opened a few years ago. The chicken is smoked to perfection and I love the homemade bbq sauce. The mac and cheese is creamy and delicious. And the collard greens are on point. I have to say, for this spot to be a truck the food packs a punch of flavor in your mouth. I don't eat pork so I can not speak about the pulled pork bbq sandwich, the beef brisket or the bbq ribs, but I hear from others its the best. I've had a little of everything else and love the food overall. In the summer months I enjoy the coleslaw and the vegetarian baked beans. Even my mom loves the food!!! read more

This guy needs his own brick and mortar place. I found his place through a Google search and came here. A little surprised his place is a food truck. I got ribs and my cousin got brisket. We also got some Mac n' Cheese with some baked beans and collard greens. Everything was absolutely awesome. He has his smoker behind the truck when opened you can see everything cooking. Phenomenal. As a bonus, we were sitting down and he brought us some coconut cake to try. Incredible. My cousin is gonna try to take it back with her to Australia and make her brother jealous. Just got back from Rodgers. Hands down the best bbq in NJ. Ribs are fall off the bone and the mild sauce (choice of mild or hot) was mouth-watering. Not only that, the sides are as good as the meat. Spanish rice was excellent, flavorful with red beans and olives mixed in. The collard greens were perfect. Dad had the mac n cheese and it was delicious. Can't wait to bring my husband. Truly some real BBQ, had the BBQ chicken which was seasoned well and grilled perfectly and topped off with sauce, all his sauces are good. Also had the BBQ beef sandwich with cole slaw which was completely off the chain! Been a while since I had such good cole slaw. Beef was perfectly cooked, not too tough. Since returning back home after visiting Nashville and Texas I have been trying to find BBQ to take me back to the south and I have finally found my place right in town. The ribs were moist and falling off the bone and juicy. The mild sauce was the perfect compliment to the perfect smoke taste of the meat.
