Walked in at 8:30, open sign was on and the door hours stated they closed at 9:00. Before we even got to the counter a host came around the corner and said that they closed at 8:20. Got home and realized they didn't give us an extra salsa, literally like 9 chips, and no beans & rice with the quesadilla. The guy was also kind of rude on the phone.. We haven't been to Rodriguez in a little bit, and I had seen the reviews had gone down, but we went ahead and chanced it. Now we know why. The service was not good. Never got our appetizer, when they brought out our fajitas, she said she would return with our plates and tortillas. That took so long that the meat was barely warm by the time we got to eat. On top of it all the meat was burnt and the rice was cold. The beans were still really good, but I can't go just for beans. We ordered 2 orders of Chicken Tortilla Soup and a cup of quest as we did when we dined in several weeks ago. As always the soup was very good. But. First of all the price is $8 more than it was when it was dine in. Placed order at 6:50 pm and was told 20 to 25 minutes. We arrived at 7:15, after waiting for the girl tending the register to stop shooting the shit with the local (non English ) patrons for 10 minutes and ignoring me, I told her to cancel our order. Order came out at that time, I paid and left. Not a sorry, not a thank you, not a please come back or anything. Unacceptable. Food is good. People are Horrible! Service disastrous. Place is packed on Friday and Saturday nights between 6 and 8. We showed up at 8:15 and sat right down (Saturday night). Very nice hostess and servers... very attentive and fast. Food was delicious. My wife and I shared the Parrillada Rodriguez dinner plate for two. The grilled Shrimp and Steak were top notch. Grilled Sausage was delicious. Chicken was a bit too large (thick) which made it a bit chewy. If they cut the chicken thinner it would have been fine. Beans had a little kick and tasted great. Onions were sautéed and cooked perfectly. Only complaint was the lighting is a bit too bright inside. Best Mexican food anywhere near Crandall. Prices good. read more

Not sure what the others are complaining about in these reviews but like always if they don't get their way then they make up crap to harm someone's lively hood. The review on honoring the 3.5% cash payment where she states they would not honor is false as the bill is originally given with the 3.5% cash discount. 3.5% is then added to the bill if you pay other than cash, so her remark that they do not honor it is totally false. Come on people grow up and quit complaining because everything isn't perfect. We live in an unperfect world, so not everything is sunshine & roses. This is currently a fairly new restaurant and has only been open about 2 months. I've been here twice now, today was the second. The first time we came here, the food and service was great. I had the chicken sour cream enchilada plate. Good portions of rice and beans surrounding melty warm chicken enchiladas. They are prepared with an orange corn tortilla, filled with pulled chicken and topped with sour cream sauce and cheese. It was delicious. My wife had the beef fajitas. Very tender and well marinated, they came out sizzling on a skillet as they should. The flour tortillas they serve with them aren't made in house, but they don't have the odd preservative taste you find in most store bought tortillas. Good option. My son had beef fajita nachos. The tortilla chips were half of a full tortilla each, which made for very nice size portions of nacho bites. They had the same delicious fajitas on them in small pieces with beans and a generous amount of melted shredded yellow cheese on top. Also very delicious. UNFORTUNATELY... I will take a star from this review for my visit today. The first thing we were met with coming in to the restaurant was the host, Vero (I made sure to get her name), and she was cold and not welcoming. She didn't say a single word as we came in and took us to a booth. We didn't fit comfortably since there was another group seated next to us, so we asked to be moved to a table. Again, she didn't say anything and remained indifferent at our issue. As she moved us over to a table, I thanked her, and she didn't even react. My family was getting upset at her attitude, and I again said loudly and clear while looking at her, "Thank you", and she looked at me and uttered, "mmhmm..". How incredibly rude. If you don't enjoy your job, quit, or if you're having a bad day, leave it outside. I manage a restaurant myself, and this would never be allowed at my workplace. Other than that, the food was good, but the food took well over 20 mins to come to our table, and then the two orders of nachos were soggy and hard. The waitress apologized and quickly had them re-made, and we were okay with that. I wish I had gotten the name of our waitress, but she was fantastic. We practically licked our plates clean. I usually never finish my food after eating my weight in chips and salsa but tonight the food was so good I had nothing left on my plate! All of our meals came with beans and rice, and they did not disappoint. It reminded me of my grandmas beans and rice, fluffy rice and tasty mashed beans. I haven't checked but hopefully they serve breakfast on the weekends, I'm sure that will be good too! Oh and I didn't try the tortillas because I had enchiladas but I'll update soon! I ordered 3 tacos, rice and beans, pointing to the picture of the entree... the waitress asked "you want the taco tuesday" and I said yes, 3 of them. The entree is listed $8.99, but they charged $11.99. The manager said it only costs $8.99 on Tuesdays. I told him the waitress said it was "the taco tuesday" for $8.99. The manager didn't care. I asked him to show me on the menu where it says my order costs $11.99 and he couldn't....he said that's just how much it costs. The argument went on and on and the manager never saw reason. I told him it was garbage and that I was near just asking for a refund. He replied that I could have a refund, but don't call his food garbage. I had to tell him it wasn't the food that i was calling garbage, but that it was his business practice. Your buiness is garbage. Tonight was the 1st time we went to the restaurant. Walked in and it definitely looked like the lady at front was overwhelmed. We asked for a booth and was told none of the booths were clean. Huh? The restaurant wasn't even packed. Instead of saying she would have one cleaned off for us she sat us down at a table. Then after being seated, no one came to our table. We sat there for a while waiting on someone to at least greet us. Someone could have at least come by and said they would be right with us. But no one did. The service was no bueno! Which is a bummer bc we reside in Crandall and had we had a great experience we would have probably been regulars. We dont even know what the food tastes like cause we walked out. That could have won us over but they started off on the wrong foot. They might of had an off night but in the restaurant business you cant. You never know when new customers will show up. Newbies is your opportunity to wow them and gain returning customers. And since you dont know whose new and who isn't, you should treat everyone like it's their first time. This place is the real deal. Delicious! I always get the Tempiquena Rodriguez it comes with rice and charro beans with an enchilada. I have them put the chili con carne on top of my enchilada usually it comes with a green sauce. The meat is very tender the flavors very authentic muy delicious. The one and only reason I did not give them a 5 star is this the Margarita machine is always broken. I'm sorry but if they make them it's not as good. Very displeased with the service and waiting time. If you choose to eat here, be prepared to wait for your food almost for an hour. If you need drink refills, there will be no one on sight. About the actual food when it got to the table: we ordered the fajitas for two. The beef and shrimp were very good, the chicken was well seasoned but dry. The rice tasted like either refrigerated or a day old. Pico de Gallo portions were small for an adult. We came in for lunch today (Sunday) around 2ish. They weren't busy at all. We were seated immediately. Leslye was our waiter, and he came by as soon as we were seated. We ordered fast. The food came in about 20 minutes- we ordered fajitas, tacos, carne asada, and enchiladas. Everything was sooo good. The pricing was decent. We all loved it. We'll probably be back soon. The hostess greeted us with a smile and sat us immediately. She brought chips and salsa to the table within minutes and informed us that someone would be at our table shortly to get our orders. She was the only decent thing about the entire ordeal at this restaurant. The tiny restaurant was just about 1/4 full. We sat for well over 15 minutes waiting on someone to greet us and take our drink orders. I counted 6 waiters and waitresses working. Of those 6, 4 of them were standing at the bar talking and laughing. They made eye contact several times and we indicated that we needed help with hand gestures. The restaurant was not busy at all. There were several opportunities for someone to stop by to at least ask what we would like to drink or apologize for the wait and assure us that they would be at the table as soon as possible. After waiting for 20 minutes we finally got up to leave the table & take our business elsewhere. When we passed one of the waitresses who was standing at the bar talking and who had seen us sitting at the table with no help she said "Thank you!". I said "What for? We never got any service." She rudely and loudly said, "Ok, and?! I didn't know. So uhhh, buh-bye!". This was not a case of being short handed. This was a flat out disregard for all responsibilities, immaturity and a blatant disrespect to customers. read more
