By this time, it was only around 230 and feel like we were only there for 2 hours. It wasn't supposed to be over until around 4/430,as per the invitation. They had a dessert table with tons of treats. We had containers to take the extras home. I asked one of the servers for a plastic bag and he told me I would gave to wait because it was the chef's birthday. I thought that was an off response, but he mentioned that the staff was singing him happy birthday in the back, which meant anything we needed was on hold until they finished. I thought that was an odd explanation. Why couldn't they wait until after the event? Very odd. Another odd thing I noticed was that one of the servers walked around and began serving red and white wine to the guests seated at the tables. I found it odd because there was an open bar and most of the guests were elderly women, pregnant women, and young girls, that were not drinking any alcohol. At least three tables out of the 5 or 6 in all, did not drink alcohol because they were either teens, pregnant or elderly. I also did not drink any wine because I already had a drink from the bar, so it was I was double fisting and left the wine that was poured, untouched. I'm unsure if my friend was charged for that but I would have been pissed if I was charged for that. The unopened bottles should have stayed on the table unless a guest opened one or asked for it to be opened, and no one requested this. In the end, everything was beautiful. I really wish that I didn't leave so early. I thought the event was over because if felt like the venue was rushing us out and there was still 90 minutes left. It halted because of one of the kitchen staff member's birthdays. On the bright side, my gf now has a beautiful and precious baby girl and I'm extremely happy for her.

No matter how much we tried explaining that the IDs were legitimate, the staff wouldn't listen and were rude throughout the interaction. You should really train your staff better on looking at ID's. It genuinely felt like they didn't care about their customers or about finding a reasonable solution. We all left and took our business elsewhere. Love can be a funny thing…read more Before recently, I had never even heard of this place. However, what brought me here comes from a name I do recognize: Jillin It. These are matchmaker events hosted by Jill, and I know of some neat love stories that came from her events. I had actually been meaning to go to another Jillin It Event for some time, but for various it just never quite aligned. Example, I might have gone to Elicit Brewery over in Black Rock for the Valentine's Day event less than three months back, but I was in the height of recovering from H Pylori. Tonight though, I was feeling much better and I've trusted Jill's services enough for a while that I decided to go to this one. Yes, I am a hopeless single, but I'm a hopeless single that enjoys going to meet new people every now and then! We were given a ticket voucher for a drink at the bar as a part of our ticket prices. There were plenty of options that sounded good, but in the end I went with the Evil Genius Trick or Treat Chocolate Pumpkin Porter. It's a very IPA kind of drink, but the notes of chocolate were subtle yet easily identifiable. I do appreciate the bartenders here for being patient with me while I took my sweet time being the world's worst drink decider. I also grabbed up a Build A Pie as I needed food to eat right this very second when I got in. It's the first time in a while that I had tomato sauce in my pizza, but everything else I got as a topping are quite a bit like what I would choose for pizza toppings. In order as it appeared on my receipt, I had fresh mozzarella, shredded mozzarella, ricotta, bacon, basil, garlic, and hot honey. Honestly, for those toppings, the price was actually pretty good! After a $6.33 tip, I paid $28.34 for the pizza. It was a thin crust, wood-fired, and definitely a crispy lil boo thang! It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but that's because compared to other pizzas I've had this has very stiff competition. This was a W pizza right here! It hit the spot when I needed it and it's something I would order again. The ambiance however is really where one should put the most weight in when having anything from a place like this. It's a primarily outdoor place, so it was a good thing I came here on a nice evening in May! I can't imagine this being popular in the winter months or when it's raining. But it's perfect for large groups, and certainly an event like tonight's! It's great for social outings. I'm gonna go ahead and give this a 4 based on my first impressions of the place. It's definitely a good spot with good service. Long as you don't mind the kids running around and come on a good weather day, you're in for a treat! Before I go, let's bring the subject back to love for a bit. It's not easy. In fact, love can be a very hard game to play. But it works in mysterious ways. As I was looking for places to go, I had come across this place, a beer bar that has been reviewed by a few of my fellow Yelpers in the past. You can get in from the Ironworks plaza of SoNo where you have places like The Spread, and it's located next door to Washington Prime. I sat myself at the bar and was greeted and handed a menu before I had even finished sitting down. Like another person who reviewed this recently pointed out, the menu is made up of global street food. You have some American choices to be sure, but you also get options from South Korea, Peru, Italy, Denmark, Japan, and even Vietnam. There's a very hip ambiance within that brings this place to life. It seems like the theme they were going for here was travel. On one of the wall paintings, you can see a train, much like the ones I'm on almost every single day. You got road crossings, speed limit signs. It's kind of like taking a road trip without leaving the comfort of your own area. If, of course, that road trip includes taking a bridge across the vast Pacific Ocean or the much closer Atlantic Ocean. And if such a road trip kept high energy throughout. The people working here are attentive and efficient. For my order, I nabbed 3 Amelia's to drink, Chinese Pork Ribs for the appetizer, and the Churrasco from Argentina for the entree. The Amelia is a Ketel One base with blackberry, elderflower, lemon, and mint. It tasted every bit as purple as it looked, and Ketel One vodka is always a staple when it comes to vodka's. It was also a very strong drink. Maybe I'm more of a lightweight than I'd previously thought, but I was definitely getting tipsy before I had even gotten my third drink, hence why I reviewed this today and not last night. I will say that I was tempted to do sake again before I went with Amelia, but I didn't really want to just do sakes on my outings. As for the food, it was delicious, but I did have some notes worth sharing. Starting with the Chinese ribs, they're cut up into small bite-sized pieces. Of course, they're also bone-in ribs, so only a bit over half of each piece was actual meat. This made me wonder what process this went through before serving to be able to pull off such a clever presentation. The sauce and meat were at least good, and the sesame seeds were a nice garnish to the dish, as well as the onions. Moving on to the Churassco, this was, in the words of the menu a "seared steak skewer with chimichurri sauce, served with French fries". For the record, I requested medium-well. If that makes me a monster, then so be it. Guess I'm a monster for not wanting raw steak. It was also the most expensive entree on the menu, clocking in at $23. What the menu does not mention is that there is also a dipping sauce that comes with the dish, and honestly, they should have included that in the description when printing out the menu because it was goddamn delicious and so much fun to dip my fries in! And while we're on the topic of the fries, they were piping out and genuinely really good. They knew how to season these and serve these fresh. As for the steak, it was still very tender and juicy, and the chimichurri sauce added another depth of flavor to this steak. Honestly, if not for the chimichurri, I might have mistook this for a French dish. I will say that French fries don't go together as well with chimichurri as they do with whatever the dipping sauce was. Maybe it was a Big Mac sauce, or maybe it was something a little cheesier than that? Whatever it was that complimented the fries perfectly. Chimichurri once the dipping sauce and steak were gone slightly overpowered the fries. But all-in-all a very delicious dinner and well worth ending the summer on a high not on.

We recently visited on Cinco de Mayo for their Taco Tuesday special, and honestly, all you can eat tacos for $22 is an absolute steal. They also run $5 Arepa Wednesdays, which is perfect if you're trying to keep things budget friendly. I tried a few tacos and appreciate the corn tortillas. The Al Pastor was easily my favorite, which surprised me because I don't usually go for pork. The meat was juicy, topped with real grilled pineapple, and paired perfectly with the spicy árbol sauce. We also tried the Birria, which had rich, tender slow-braised brisket, though I did wish it came with the traditional consommé for dipping. The Chicken Tinga was decent, but I'm just not a huge tinga person in general. The Veggie taco was a good vegan option, packed with sautéed potatoes and peppers that gave a nice break from all the meat-heavy choices. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try the churros with ice cream for dessert. Even on a busy holiday night, the staff really stepped up. Eric handled the pressure like a pro, and Chris kept everything spotless despite the constant crowd. This place is definitely more about the lively atmosphere and the "United Nations" of flavors than a quiet, traditional dinner experience. Perfect for a group hang, casual date night, or anytime you want good energy with your meal.
