The cool, little dive bar located on the heart on King Street is the ol' reliable of watering holes. It seems as if the place is always open. When you walk in, a giant bath tub greets you at your feet. Brick walls, high ceilings and tons of booze. Can't expect much else for a bar, right? Well... The bartenders here have been hit or miss for me. So much so that during my last visit, I asked for a draft beer and received the wrong one. Could've been a simple mistake, but when I mentioned that the stout wasn't the IPA I ordered, she ignored my claim. Hmm... I've heard people rave about the inexpensive tacos, but I've yet to indulge. Friday and Saturday nights the place is packed tighter than a can of sardines. I actually prefer hanging out at Rogue on a quieter weeknight. I call this a punk bar because most times I go there is punk music playing, but have been corrected by my friends that it is just a bar that happens to play punk often. Either way, I recommend this bar. it is a no frills pub with great prices and great bar tenders. They have a ring toss game that you can buy rings and toss at liquor bottles. Anything you "ring" gets you a shot of that liquor. It is limited to certain liquors, but still a fun thing to do when you go with friends. read more

We tried The Rogue after seeing a notification about their happy hour on Facebook. It was a special 4th of July happy hour. If you buy a drink, you get tacos for .25!!! Awesommmeee!! So we get to the bar and walk past it three times!, There isn't any signage, just a big wooden 'R' in the window. A lady standing by the bar asked what we were looking for and pointed us in the right direction. The bar is know for its whiskey collection, and while I'm not a whiskey drinker, I can appreciate what a vast collection they have. The highlight for us is they had Stella Cidre on DRAFT!! Its an extremely hard beer to find in a bottle, and on draft is essentially a unicorn. The tacos were wonderful! For .25, I was expecting a cheap ground beef taco. But no, we got their regular menu tacos, which had interesting flavor combos and a very good size. We really enjoyed The Rouge, including the friendly bartender and we will surely be back! read more

Since discovering The Rogue, Hubby and I have popped in quite a few times now just to have a drink or two. I used the term "discovering" because it's kinda hard to know it's here unless you already know it's here. There's not a huge sign or a huge entrance. It's right on King Street, but it's just not very noticeable. It's a small, chill place and that's why I like it. I don't have to worry about how I'm dressed to walk in here or if I have make-up on or not. Ok, I don't walk in with sweats on, but you get my drift.... I don't feel like i have to be "all dolled up" to walk into the place. Like I said, it's small. It truly, truly is. When it gets crowded, it gets really cramped, really quickly. Luckily, all but once, we've never been here when it's been really crowded. The place is narrow rather than wide, so it's not uncommon to bump into someone or be bumped into, but everyone is cool about it. It is what it is. They tend to play the music really loud, so having a conversation can be difficult; you have to be sitting right next to the person to hear them. And what the heck? They have one of those old claw bathtubs for decoration. LOL I actually did LOL the first time I noticed it! =) The bartenders are really cool and they all make a nice drink with a good pour. I'm not a beer drinker, so I can't specify, but they do have quite a few beers on tap. If you find yourself in Riverside and are just looking to pop in somewhere for a drink to chill a little bit, this is a good place. read more

It must have been early since the place was pretty empty. Friends of mine recommended this place. The brick wall and tub gave it a quaint welcoming ambience. I enjoyed my IPA local beer and did I hear correctly? 25 cents tacos? You had me at 25. But they were actually good! Pretty hearty since I could only eat one. Good ol' Rogue- has not changed much since I turned 21! Five years has passed (can I be 21 again) and this is still a sweet little spot. The Rogue is in between Loft and Park Place and can easily be missed. Crazy that I forgot the name of this place, especially since I don't go out much as I used to. I got dragged out on a Thursday night, which was fine since it was pretty empty. The bar tenders are pretty pleasant and typically get to you quickly. Compared to other bars nearby, this is the most relaxed place. Sit back, have a few drinks in this divey whiskey bar, and try your luck at a shot with the ring toss. This is my favorite watering hole in Jacksonville. The staff and drinks here are amazing and always make for a great night. If you get there before 10pm make sure to order a 25 cent taco! They're absolutely delicious and you can get one taco per drink you order. My favorite thing to do here is play the ring toss game. Pay $2.50 to get 5 rings to throw at the liquor bottles. If you make it on any of the liquor bottles with pour spouts, you win a shot! It's like a carnival game for adults! read more

All I know is I had a real good time here! A couple of Yelpers and I moseyed on over here after our Elite event at Simply Sarah's. The bar tenders were so attentive and not douche which is awesome! The décor is wonderful with their dim lit Christmas lights and wooden bar. Huge, long, wooden bar, might I add. OH OH OH I just remembered, they have a ring toss game where you throw rings around the liquor bottles at the bar and then you win a shot of whatever it landed on, if you made one. Super awesome, and harder than it looks! Awesome music that's not blasting in your face so it's definitely a good time to come with a couple of friends where you can all chat, laugh, and have a good time. I love The Rogue. I have been here a few times over the years and it was always fun. When I come to Jacksonville with different friends of course I take them here so we can take hilarious photos in the bath tub. Yes you read that right, there is a literal bathtub (non working of course) that is near the front entrance. This place is a fairly small hole in the wall with brick surrounding you. It has a hip feel to it. The bar has tons of liquor bottles and a handful of beers as well. There is this awesome ring toss game here where you get 5 rings for like $3 to throw at the liquor bottles. If it lands into one of the spouts you get that shot for free. It is just a super fun added bonus when here. I like the staff here for the entertaining environment and usually it is easy to spark a conversation with the other patrons as well. read more

Ok update on this review. This joint dropped from 5 stars to 2 in a matter of an hour. Not good! At 10:30 pm we are sitting at the bar and the security guy tells us he needs to take our chairs, "because we have a lot of people coming in." WTF, am I not a paying customer?! Oh he offered to replace my chair with some crappy stool with no back. Apparently they do this every weekend. The take the good chairs to the bar next door. Note to owners: if you're getting that many people in next door, buy some chairs! _______________________________________ This little hidden jewel was a true find. We found out they do free tacos during happy hour (buy a drink, get a taco) Tues thru Sat 5pm - 7pm and we keep trying to get down here for the tacos but never make it. We stumbled upon it one afternoon (not free taco time) but the atmosphere, staff and drinks were so great we didn't care we missed tacos. This is only a semi-dive bar. No smoking and the clientele is way cleaner than we've seen in a real dive bar. Awesome selection of booze and you can throw mason jar rings over the bottles behind the bar for a free shot. Ring a bottle, get a shot of whatever you caught. I think it's 5 rings for $2. This place isn't overly pretentious like others in this area but yet it's a really nice place. Cool happy hour because there is a free taco with each drink purchase. The ambiance is a little dark for my taste. But pay a couple of dollars for five Ball jar rings to try your luck at a free shot! The game is ring toss and you're supposed to ring a liquor bottle. A fun game that is way worth the effort BUT It's way harder than it looks! It's amazing that I've been near this bar a million times and never went in. My wife came across a promotion about Rogue in a Facebook ad. They were advertising $0.25 tacos on the 4th of July. As soon as you walk in, you get the awesome bar feel! The liquor selection is amazing. If you're a whiskey drinker, this is their speciality! I never knew that a bar could have my favorite beer, Stella Cidre, on draft. So for the very reasonable price of $6.25 you can get an ice cold Stella Cidre. The bartender is very friendly and knowledgable. The tacos are out of this world, please do yourself a favor and check out Rogue. read more

"Any moment Biff 'Mad Dog' Tannen is going to walk through those doors and start some ruckus!" That thought permeated my brain while I enjoyed myself at The Rogue. Upon entering into this Riverside whiskey bar you are immediately whisked back into a Prohibition era "speak easy" crossed with "Back to the Future's" wild west! The atmosphere was jovial with customers buying rounds of beer for everyone and laughing as they played a ring toss game. I was waiting for that shattering moment of silence as the local bandit entered to break things up! I seriously have never been in a HAPPIER bar! I enjoyed a double of "Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey" and it really DOES taste like the candy of childhood's past. The bartender, complete with suspenders and an enviable mustache of yore, seemed oblivious to the mason jar rings whizzing about his head to land on the bottleneck of a whisky bottle for a free shot. The Rogue is awesome on so many levels but I love the fact that the ring toss game adds a Carnival element which binds strangers together as they root and exclaim excitement when their new found friend lands a ringer. What a fun little hallway of a bar! I'm on a new theory that the best bars are oblong. I know I said center, circle bar before, but I'm evolving. One day at a time! The Rogue is one more must-do in the King Street District. Seriously, how much fun can you have on one street?! This speakeasy style, low-lit dive is a prime destination for a stiff drink and an intimate chat. With Christmas lights, decorative conversation pieces (bathtub?), and a heck of an addictive game to play, The Rogue is swiftly becoming one of my favorite bars. The ring toss game works like this, you buy a set of five mason jar lids for $2, and then simply chuck them across the bar as the bartenders are trying to work. It's awesome! If you ring one around a bottle, you get a free shot! Only downside? You have to shoot what you hoop. Hmm, OK, I guess I'll do a shot of Bombay??? Yuck. Still fun though! Last time I was here, I noticed the bartender making a MEAN Bloody Mary. I thought it was an odd choice at 11 pm, but then when I saw him make 5 or 6 more within the hour, I realized the joke was probably on me. I'm definitely trying one next time! read more

I really enjoy this little neighborhood bar. If it gets too crowded at any of the other places on King street, you can usually head here to grab a quick beer or shot before your next stop. I love the rustic feel of the Rogue, it's not too hipster or pretentious, and you can manage to grab a drink in a fairly reasonable amount of time, even when they are slammed. They have a few local brews on tap, but their specialty is their whiskey list. I haven't been able to drink whiskey since college, but if I did, I'd probably be in heaven. There are a lot of great choices on King St. to grab a few drinks... make sure you spread the love to all of them. :) read more

This is a fun little bar. I have been there with a big group and I have been with just my boyfriend. Both times were really fun. The bartenders are quick with a drink and that is always nice. The ring toss is so much fun! I always ring a bottle and it is so much fun to see what you get a "shot" of. It is usually something I have never had, so that is fun to try something new. This is the greatest little "dive" bar in Jacksonville. The drinks, service, and interior are nice, but let's be honest - that's not why you come here. You come here for the ring toss game. For $2, you get 5 "rings" (mason jar can topper rings) and you throw them at the bottles of booze on the shelf. If you get it around the neck of the bottle, you get a shot of whatever is in the bottle. I think I dropped nearly $80 in one night on this game alone. It is addictive. Its low -key so its not the best for those who are looking for a club like environment. If you want to dance go to the Loft next door; this is not a dance bar! First time going.. Went with some friends who love the "ring toss". So, my husband and I try it out. My husband goes to throw a ring. It bounces off the bottle and hits the fat blonde bartender. Her reaction, was to throw a bottle cap back at my husband and it hits him in the face. She smirks with accomplishment. Cool huh!?? ... So, I approach her and I ask the fat blonde bar tender to speak with the manager. She states "I am the manager". I ask her.. "Why did you throw a bottle cap at my husband?" She states "she was throwing it in the "garbage". I clearly let her know, that I "watched her do it" she claimed she had "300 other people to serve and this wasnt her problem". The Rogue is pretty cool. We came in on a Friday night for a beer. It wasn't crowded when we got there, so we got a table (score one for my 30 year old self). They have a large selection of beer, wines, and liquors. We didn't stay for food, but the menu had a Mexican theme and looked pretty good. Within an hour The Rogue was very crowded. Pretty cool dive bar. Seems small when you first walk in, but it has a lot depth and seating the stretches all the way in the back. Lots of drink specials and items you won't see at all bars, like the Breakfast of Champions shot! No smoking indoors though, which sucks. If you are looking for a laid back place with good people, great drinks ( thanks to the awesome bartenders Eddy, Ben, and Hadley), and a fun ass atmosphere then rouge is the place for you. Monday night is bingo and a must. Where else can you get a shot when you win bingo? And at only 50 cents a bingo card!!!! It's crazy fun. Wednesday night is trivia. If you are good or bad at trivia it doesn't matter. You can make your own team and join in.
