But if they were busy, would not have been an option. We had great and attentive service from Tim. The scallops were divine. The pork was OK, but the apple relish made up for it a bit. Entrees came out around 10. My wife had the filet and I had the ribeye. They looked great but were terribly undercooked, so we had to send it back. Didn't really want to because we were eating so late, but it was that bad. Then the recook took so long we just had them box it up. The service was oh so great and the total ambiance of the restaurant was exactly what you'd want out of a great meal. Where the restaurant lacked was the food. I would not recommend this place for that reason alone. For 170 bucks, we got a single entree a single app and two glasses of wine, I'd tell you to take your money elsewhere. Wow, just wow. You walk into this warm, cozy entryway and greeted immediately. This restaurant looks to be once an old home with so much unique charm. Our meal was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Tim was our server, and he was excellent. He made the recommendation for the pork shank, and it did not disappoint! My significant other got the filet, and it was cooked to perfection. It seemed to melt in your mouth. The cocktails were great, and we are so glad we came here. Absolutely awesome. We kicked things off with the appetizer platter, which was basically the greatest hits album of starters. Every single bite was a win. My wife went with the shrimp Alfredo, and let me tell you -- she hasn't stopped talking about it since. Like, I think she's drafting a love letter to the chef as we speak. Service was A+, attentive without hovering, and the atmosphere sealed the deal -- cozy, welcoming, and just the right amount of charm. Rogue's Manor crushed it. The dining area is set in a charming Victorian former residence. The service is always great and they always have fresh fish which we really enjoy. We ordered drinks and had to ask the waitress about them 3 times to receive them 45 minutes later. Waited for appetizers, waited for entrees. The food was okay, would have been great if we weren't waiting hours to eat, but by the time we received our food we were really done with the experience. The waitress was extremely kind and helpful. The ambiance over all was a nice vibe with a nice interior and good music. Again, the food was good, but the wait really ruins everything. We ordered another round of drinks before our entrees came, but the drinks never came. We asked about them several times and the waitress said the bar was very behind. Finally asked for just a coke, still had to wait 30 mins for it. We left after 945 pm. 3 hours of a dining experience. It was the end of our evening, we had nothing else planned, and the vibe was nice and the chairs were comfy so it wasn't the end of the world, but not sure I'd recommend to people who aren't as patient as us. read more

A quaint restaurant tucked into an old home, the decor is really nice with exposed limestone and wine storage every where. The vibe is definitely upscale, my favorite part of the aesthetic was the leather chairs with arm rests. So incredibly comfortable, a really unique touch that helps you relax during your dinner here. The caesar dressing was superb, walleye was great maybe a touch greasy but flakey nonetheless. The smoked salmon may be some of the best I've ever had and left me wanting more and more. I really enjoyed my dinner here, the staff were very warm and professional. The food was great, and the drinks were excellent as well. Even though she was taking away plates of uneaten food. The food was just so so, most dishes were drenched in sauce. The lamb was over done and tough. They didn't have the correct silverware for the food. We had to use the bread knife for a steak because they did not bring one or ever ask us if we needed anything. At the end of the meal we were all discussing our dishes and found not one that we said that was excellent. Appetizers, salads, bread, main dishes, and desserts were all just not great. Skip the salad it's 90% iceberg with way too much salad dressing. The piped in music was loud and we could not speak at our table without projecting our voices. I'm thrown off by oysters that large, but they were fresh. Walleye and mashed potatoes were perfect. I ended with the Gentleman's Poison for "dessert" and it was the perfect way to end the evening. Service was good, but I heard some drama in the kitchen(?) to my left... someone complaining about having a full bar and being an excellent bartender but... We went to Rogue's for our anniversary last night. I will start with the frustrating parts. I called main number & texted (number provided by them) 3 days straight to make a reservation for dinner. Not one call or text back. The first thing you get asked when you walk in the door is "Do you have a reservation?". That was a bit frustrating. We were there before 5pm (which is when they start serving dinner - lounge opens at 4pm for drinks & appetizers). We really didn't mind sitting in there as it's a nice cozy area. We placed our drink order and ordered a shrimp cocktail to share. $13 for 4 medium shrimps seems a bit much. I expected 5-6 which tends to be more common when ordering a shrimp cocktail. I ordered the 22oz bone-in ribeye that was served with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The steak and mashed potatoes were excellent. The steamed broccoli was just that. No flavor whatsoever. My wife ordered the duck dinner. Her sides were jasmine rice and the same steamed broccoli. Overall the duck was really lackluster (especially if you have had a really good duck breast meal) and I wouldn't recommend it. She felt the same way about the broccoli. She ended up eating some of my steak & potatoes. We took most of her duck home and our German Shepherds seemed to enjoy it. We also ordered the Crème Brule. It was served with a side of whipped cream (seemed like the can version) and a drizzle of chocolate. It was ok at best. We have eaten here many times and I am sure we will be back if only for the steak. read more

This used to be our most favorite place to go for special occasions like birthday or anniversary. We went recently for my husband's birthday while the food is still amazing, they're letting the place run down. It could be so much nicer...several years back in the bar, we enjoyed sitting at one of the three tables by the tall windows, facing the rock wall with water trickling down. However, this time the windows are so filthy. You can't even see the rock outside of them. Can they not clean their windows or change out windows that can be opened for easy cleaning? Just a simple thing like that would make the place seem to be the type of place that you want to spend more money on for fine dining and their chairs are getting torn up. They've lost their fluff and in the bar area my chin was even with the table. The chairs were so old and low. I was totally not impressed and in the dining room the atmosphere is beautiful because of the decorative light fixtures, metal ceiling, Victorian aura...but again the chair was all torn up look like it needed tape. It was horrible something that would rip your nylons if you sat on it, and for $136 for the two of us for a nice evening of ambience. It just felt a little junkie.... Needless to say we try somewhere else next time until they can get their game together come on folks you've got a great place there. Can you not clean it up a bit? read more

On our most recent visit to Eureka, we stumbled across this gem mostly because they were actually still open at 8:00PM on a Thursday, a relative rarity for the area. And we're so glad we did, because this place is awesome. We started with a couple of glasses of a nice cab while we contemplated dining choices. First up was the potted Montrachet appetizer, featuring a luscious warm creamy goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes, olives, and artichoke hearts, with toast points for serving. It was delicious, with the cheese proving to go well with that chewy cab. My fiance ordered the smoked salmon appetizer as her main course, and we should have checked the menu more closely, as it was basically the above-mentioned appetizer with cream cheese instead of the goat cheese, and adding the salmon, so we got a double hit of the veggies and toast. But it was totally worth it, because the smoked salmon was the finest example of the dish that I've ever had. The smoked flavor was very complex and deep, leaving me to wonder what their secret was. It was tender and moist as well, and left us wrestling over who was going to get the last piece. My entree was the curried seafood chowder, a unique dish that started with a curried creamy tomato base, and was loaded with large chunks of seafood, including shrimp, scallops, salmon, and maybe a couple of others. It was truly delicious, a seafood lovers delight. Both saltines and captain's wafers were provided, but we had excess toast points, so I used those for sopping up every last bit of that sauce. For dessert, our server talked us into the creme brulee, and while I'm typically wary of this dish due to the frequent crimes against it, the rest of the meal gave me hope, and the gamble paid off. Served simply in the ramekin with the classic burnt sugar top, it was the perfect texture. Not pudding, not flan, not cheesecake - just that perfect mouthfeel that a great flan should have. It also featured a drizzle of ganache on the plate, but we didn't even touch it, instead just taking in the wonderful texture and mild flavor of the flan. Service was also top notch, befitting a fine restaurant, but also with a little Eureka flair. This place definitely needs to be on your short list! read more

Very cool place, the food was good, though a bit overdone and way overpriced, but the bar tender was awful. I sat at the bar because it was too busy to wait for a table and Billy was my bar tender. She was very rude the whole night and even yelled at the guy next to me to "shut up, my boss is right there" several times. I ordered my food and waited almost an hour only for her to tell me "I forgot to tell them to fire your food because you were still drinking your beer. Do you still want your food?" Basically trying to blame me for her not putting my order in when I never told her to hold off on firing it. I was starving so I said yes I want to eat dinner still. Then she said "well I didn't know" still, blaming anyone but herself. She made me a second drink which I took a few sips of but I didn't like it very much. I didn't say this to her but she asked me "you don't like this huh?" And I said it's okay. She snatched it off the bar and dumped it out so fast and said "what else can I make you?" I had no issue drinking that one but since it was already gone I ordered something else which took her 20 minutes to make. She kept running around and shouting that she was overwhelmed but I have bar tended many years and I know the stress is not that serious, especially on a slow night with only 4 people at the bar. I get she was making everyone else drinks in the restaurant but it was still not that crazy. She had several employees come back to do her dishes a few times while she stood there and complained to them. Then she told someone she had taken a weed gummy before work which made everything make so much more sense. My reason for the delay is my concern it would be an expensive disappointment because I've always heard it can be hit-and-miss. Unfortunately, my fears proved to be true and it was a miss. The place is charming with an incredible ambiance, but it's a shame when the highlights of the meal are the iced tea, salad, and bread. My husband's steak had questionable seasoning and came well done, instead of medium. We asked for more bread that never came. My seafood casserole was an oily mess with only one shrimp, scallop, and a small piece of salmon. The brussel sprouts were roasted to a burnt char. Seemed like no one was watching what went out of the kitchen, and at no time during the meal did our server inquire what we thought. Sitting next to a local spring, you can't help but notice what I think used to be a house as one point. The place is awesome, inside and out! I ordered the pork tenderloin for $20, which happened to be the cheapest meal on the menu. It is a fancier place, so be prepared to spend at least $30 a person. The pork tenderloin was a bit smaller than I would've liked, but it was amazing. Sitting on top of an orange relish, it was the perfect addition to the salty, juicy loin. The mashed potatoes were creamy, filling, and full of flavor. It did come with one large piece of steamed broccoli that was also very flavorful. Not sure what they had steamed it in, but it was very good for some naked broccoli. But my favorite part of the whole meal was the pumpernickel bread in a small, clay cup looking thing. It was delicious, and had I known that it was free, I could've ate just that all night and have been just fine. I did however eat 3 of them ;) You definitely need to try this restaurant out if you're in town. I'll definitely go back, and try not to be as cheap :D read more

They squeezed us in for 5:30 on a busy weekend. We were greeted by kind staff and seated in the atrium. Great atmosphere, soft music and good service. He chose the Osso Bucco but they had just run out. Second choice was the pork chop with shallot bacon jam. I chose Chiopino. All meals include a lite salad and a great homemade bread. The inside is lovely, full of character and beautiful unique lights on each table. Appetizers were delicious my friends had raw and fried oysters which they enjoyed. I ordered Potted Monterachet which was simply delicious! The bread is served in a cup which looked like a popover however it was warm yummy hardy bread. For dinner they had NY Strip and Lobster while I had a Filet Mignon. The horseradish whipped potatoes were absolutely wonderful! If you want a special treat this is the place for you! read more

This is a beautiful building and an amazing, unique place for dinner, but for the price the food was too hit or miss for five stars. If you're in town I would recommend stopping by this place just know it's going to be your most expensive meal of the trip. I knew that going in but I was surprised in the end because I've had fancy meals in Chicago and LA whose bills were still smaller than this. Some of the food was great don't get me wrong, and the awesome atmosphere gave a bit of help to anything that wasn't that tasty. The salads and drinks were so so, it's the same stuff you'll find all over town. The filet was amazing - if you want a steak go for the extra few dollars to get the filet. I usually like NY strip so that's what I got, but there was a ton of fat on it compared to the filet so I left a lot of my steak on the plate compared to the filet, which was 100% tasty and 100% of it was edible. The server was great too, and he definitely added to the atmosphere. The place is worth a stop but if you don't like the look of the full menu go for drinks and an app. read more

We came for our anniversary and the atmosphere was perfect. Intimate, romantic and quiet. Our server Andy was great and even filled us in on some of the local history. We ordered the chicken tarragon with horseradish mashed potatoes, honey-glazed broccoli, and house salad with warm homemade bread. Also the lamb shank with the same sides. Our salad and bread came out quickly. But our Entrees took a long time, especially since the place was very slow. Once our entrees came it was barely warm. The potatoes were cold--very disappointing. When Andy came back to see how we were doing, he gladly replaced our mashed potatoes with fresh ones. We also ordered two glasses of wine, but Andy opened a whole bottle. We told him we only ordered two glasses, he took $10 off the peace. Overall, we loved our meal. The music was quiet and romantic on this cold February night. We imagine this place must be really popular in the Summer. We parked down the street, but be careful, the curbs are high and the sidewalks uneven. read more
