Service is poor. I ordered a mud slide, as it was a very hot day. 20 minutes later it hadn't arrived. I got up, walked to the bar, and could see it sitting there, but they wouldn't let me take is, saying my server would bring it, return to my table. So another 5 minutes I wait, and she brings it. It was the worst mudslide I have ever had. The ice was all melted, and it was very watery. I should have returned it. Then the burgers came. No silverware. I wanted to cut my burger in half, as it is large. She never came back to see if we needed anything. So again, I walked back to the counter, and asked for silverware, and again, I was told the server would bring it, return to my seat. I was getting irritated by now. It took her another 5 minutes to return with silverware. They add an automatic 18% gratuity on the tab, it states this on the menu. I wish they wouldn't do this, because I believe it encourages the servers to give mediocre service, and they still get a tip. We generally almost always leave 20% tip. As she brought us the bill, she told my husband, that tips are shared, and she doesn't get the 18% tip, but if we wanted to leave an ADDITIONAL tip, any additional tip would go directly to her. This is too much for a server to say. It is obvious to customers that they can always leave a hefty tip for exceptional service. (He left a 40% tip at a local restaurant for amazing service). What he wanted to say to her, but didn't out of kindness, was that service was terrible, and he wanted the tip removed! I wish I could say that this experience was an isolated event, but similar happened three times over some months. This was the only restaurant I ate in Arkansas and I'll never forget it. From the food to the views and super friendly staff, I had a great experience. I'd definitely come back. My husband and I weren't starving. We shared the shroom burger together. It was delicious. I ordered a side house salad. It wasn't great. Most of the greens seemed like shredded lettuce and green onions. That is the only dish I would not order again. However I am not writing this review based on the salad alone. Th balcony was the perfect spot to unwind and take in the view with a drink in hand. The Halloween-themed spicy margarita was both fun and surprisingly strong, with just the right amount of kick. My two sons and I had dinner at Balcony Bar & Restaurant tonight and had the most wonderful experience. It was a gorgeous night, so we sat outside and played a card game we had just purchased up the street. I believe Sarah (?) was our waitress, and she was delightful. The kitchen was on it, we got our pickle fries appetizer before she even had a chance to bring us our drinks. My youngest's kids meal burger was so big he couldn't even finish it. I had the hummus platter for my main, and there were SO many little pitas! When we finishing up, a very kind man who had also been dining on the patio came over and said, "Here boys, I want you to have a souvenir," and handed each of them a $2 bill. After we got our boxes, our waitress informed me that the kind man had also paid our bill. I haven't had such a positive experience anywhere in a really long time. Thank you!! read more

This place is upstairs and part of the Basin Park Hotel. The hotel itself is said to be haunted but I saw or felt no ghosts on this occasion, lol. Very cool old building to walk through with a few game rooms as part of the hotel. As for the restaurant, I loved the outdoor patio, which gave us great views of the little town below. Our waitress was very friendly, and even helped us decide what to order as we were indecisive! I had the cheesesteak sandwich with fries and was very happy with my food! The sandwich had just the right amount of meat, cheese, peppers and onions and the French fries were tasty as well. The Alabama Slammer cocktail was really good and refreshing. Great spot for dinner and drinks in historic downtown. We started with the hummus appetizer which is the best thing we ordered. I highly recommend as an appetizer. Kids menu is solid as it comes with crayons and drawing games to keep them entertained. I had 'The Best' Burger which was really good. I ordered the steamed vegetables as the side a they were 'meh' so I would go with another option as a side. My daughter ordered the Ice Cream Brownie dessert. I didn't try it, but the kids loved it. We ordered the chips and queso and you could tell the chips were straight from the bag and the queso was half cold and was definitely the Tostitos brand. Food was good and the location fun, but I'll have to think twice about returning, because they automatically charge 18% "gratuity" on all checks regardless of party size (only one person in my case). They use a lot of menu text trying to transparently justify this, but it's an awkward thing to read when you just want to choose a dish. I feel like it boils down to them not really paying their staff enough and wanting customers to cover the difference. If you want to spread tips around to other staff then do it with the tips customers voluntarily give. In my case it would have been over 18% anyway. But don't force it on customers. Regarding the food, I enjoyed the "Best burger", and especially their huckleberry pie with huckleberry ice cream which is a must-have if you come here. My husband and I ate at the balcony bar and restaurant during our stay at the basin hotel. The food was fantastic. He had the best burger and I had the veggie quesadilla. I also had a specialty margarita. The service was fast and friendly. There was a gentleman playing music, created a nice ambience. The food was hot fresh and very good. After the low reviews I wasn't expecting much so I was pleasantly surprised. The BBQ burger is huge (all burgers are 1/2 pound) so we shared it, and added bacon. Subbed onion rings for the chips. And got a couple cocktails to top it off. It was really good. The burger is a bit overcooked but it was tasty. The location is unbeatable and despite middling service they're all happy to serve. But for anything other than that, save your money. The workers are nice. The burgers are massive, and appearance is overall appetizing; however, not only are the burgers mostly bland with a light smoky taste, they also forgot to take the onions off. For me, to get two burgers and the fried pickle fries, it was $70. You're better off saving your money. As for the ambiance, the decor is cool, but only because it's never been updated.
