This is my favorite place to go for a breakfast sandwich. I go with the egg and cheese sandwich on a sesame seed bagel, and I add a Beyond plant based sausage. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. The jalapeño bagel is also really good for an egg and cheese sandwich. The service is great and efficient. Next time I want to try their lunch options like the pizza bagel and burgers. 3 stars for my personal experience ordering a breakfast sandwich and coffee to go, but it looked like others who ordered in front of me had been waiting a LONG time to get their food. There was a lot of frustration and confusion there this morning, and the cashier was working very hard, but seemed confused. There was one woman in the back making all of the food, and she kept coming out to help, clarify orders, and talk with customers about what was taking so long for their orders. I got the impression that they were either short staffed or new, or both. For my own order, I chose an egg and cheese on an everything bagel and a small coffee to go. It was all just ok. Wait time for my own food: not terrible, but could have been faster. Not complaint worthy, just a little slow. Others who were already waiting for their food when I arrived were still waiting for their food after I got mine and left. Food quality: average. The bagel was large and fairly tasty, but a little dry, like perhaps slightly stale. The egg was fine, and the cheese was American "cheese product." I was a little bummed it wasn't real cheese, but for $3.50 for an egg and cheese bagel, I guess I got what I paid for. Coffee: Meh. Not as hot as it could have been, and tasted a little old. But fine. Prices: Too high. $4.99 for an egg, cheese, and meat sandwich is fine, and $3.50 for an egg and cheese is fine as well. But $3.75 for a bagel toasted with veggie cream cheese? Get out of here. Unless they are milking the cow in back for the cream cheese, that's ridiculous. Final assessment: I'll probably be back at least once to try it again, and maybe to try one of their burgers. Ordered delivery and was very happy with the quality of the food and the time it took to arrive. We had 2 bagels, one with bacon, egg and cheese, another with NOVA salmon, scallion cc, tomato, onion, and capers. Plus a side of home fries. Food was delicious and warm. This place freaking rules. Super consistent service, except when using Postmates (so we stopping using Postmates!) this spot really needs more up to date reviews. My partner and I go almost everyday, not proud but proud to support local! Vegan options here are great! They often carry little fig and other vegan items as well. Love love love it. Bagels are fine. Nothing special but they definitely hit the spot. My problem was the pricing. I ordered three bagels with cream cheese, different bagels whatever. For some reason they were ALL different prices...and on top of that the prices we were charged were ALL different than the prices on the board too. Under New Ownership - Try it I had been here under the previous ownership, and found the bagels and bagel sandwiches to be good, but not worth the drive from my home. I had heard there was a change in ownership and decided to give it a try on a recent Saturday morning with my wife and daughter. I ordered chicken salad and bacon on an everything bagel, my wife ordered eggs on hers, and my daughter had a plain toasted bagel with cream cheese. First, let me say that the staff did a great job keeping up with the crowd from the nearby college. The ladies on the front registers handled the pressure without showing any signs of stress. The workers in the back assembling the orders kept up a steady flow of production. It took about 10 minutes to get our food - considering the crowd that morning, I was impressed. The young lady attending to details in the dinning area was pleasant and made sure tables were clean, people were satisfied with their food - all signs of a well run establishment. The bagels had just the right amount of crunch and chew. Apparently the new owner knows a thing or two about how to cook bagels in Baltimore. My chicken salad and bacon was terrific, and my wife and daughter didn't leave a morsel of their food left. I went back the next week and had just as good of an experience. I hate do it but it looks like this place has hit rock bottom. Two days I called in my normal order of a powerhouse sandwich to the store. When I arrived at the store there was a lady who normally makes the sandwich's working the register. She saw me and told the cook to make my sandwich. I told her I called in 10 minutes earlier so I could pick it up when arrived. The cook took like 10 more minutes to make essentially a veggie sandwich. And now the kicker. It cost 5.99 on the menu that's posted. She charged me 7.99. When I questioned her about it she told me they have new owners who have raised the prices for everything. I explained to her that it's illegal to have prices posted on the menu above the register and charge customers more than the listed price. The surprising thing about this and the other restaurants that are part of the "Loco Hombre" group (Miss Shirley's, S'ghetti Eddie's, Alonso's) is how they make a local dining experience feel like a chain. There is very little local character whatsoever to recommend these places. RP Bagels is a just adequate bagel shop. They don't have the best bagels in the world, they don't have the worst. For years, living in Chicago, I dreamed of having a bagel shop on the corner. Now that I do, it's really anticlimactic because the bagels are just average. The service is somewhat indifferent and the décor is, as I indicated, generic (by that I mean sterile - there's no faux-hominess here really). If it weren't nearby I'd just get supermarket bagels. I debated between giving this a one or a two...and then decided on a 1. [I was only considering a 2 because I did like their scallion cream cheese]. But, this place was really terrible. From the people working, to the hard day-old bagels, I would never go back. First, we had to wait at the counter for about 10 minutes while the woman making sandwiches in the back appeared to be the only one working. Then, she finally came up front and I ordered an egg bagel with scallion cream cheese. A man then appeared in the back and he started making my bagel. There is a little cut out window where you can see into the back...he yelled, "I need an egg bagel," and the woman at the front literally tossed my bagel through the little hole. Then he said, "Never mind, I found one back here," and proceeded to use what I could only imagine was a hard, old bagel that he just found lying around. I was squirming in my seat, and when it came out I was right. It was disgusting. It tasted like stale cardboard, but at least the scallion cream cheese was good. I had also ordered the lentil soup, which for some reason took longer to come out than my bagel and my colleague's egg salad sandwich. My colleague ordered the soup as well. When it finally came out, there was only one soup on the counter, and I was done with my bagel. I took the soup, and there was no explanation for where the missing soup was. I opened the lid, and the soup was mushy. The lentils were all disintegrated into a thin, watery pulp. Finally, after about another 10 minutes, the woman yelled to us at our table from the back, (literally, I am not making this up), that they were out of lentil soup and did my colleague want broccoli cheddar. At that point, I would have said no and asked for a refund, but she is nicer than me and she took it to go. read more

So I have been coming here for a while. But only really when I'm in the area. I am by no means a Towson Hot Bagel mega fan, in fact I wish they were better too. I want something to replace THB as a better bagel place, and I think this place is on their way. But the Taylor ham egg and cheese left something to be desired. Their asiago wasn't great either. Mediocre bagel at its best. Management has fallen apart and allows a few idiots who don't care about food or customer service to run the place. On my last and final visit I received two bagels. One of which was burnt and the other had spoiled cream cheese that tasted like blue cheese. I spent the rest of the day worrying that I had ingested Clostridium Botulinum and was going to suffer from a very painful death. If I was rating this place in my home of Long Island I'd give it 2 stars, but Baltimore is not replete with good bagel vendors and this place's bagels are some of the best in this city so far. RP Bagels could be improved by lowering prices a bit more and maybe offering some early morning deals on bagel + coffee or OJ, for example. Also, where is the high quality salmon and other more gourmet, interesting options? I would go there more in this case. Also, the speed of service is not great; could be sped up with a more efficient system; they seem understaffed or did not design the counter system carefully or with growth in mind. One pet peave: ever notice that sometimes sesame bagels taste moldy? I guess it has to do with certain batches of sesame seeds; maybe they sit around too long or some are rancid or moldy. I love these guys. The bagels and sandwiches are delicious, and just as importantly, the staff is so kind. I ordered half dozen bagels online and they were still baking when I went to pick them up. The cook was SO apologetic (when it was no big deal at all!) and when I forgot my cream cheese, he ran down the street for 3 blocks after me to make sure I had it! I find the bagels to be dense, serving staff is borderline rude and definitely lacks any ounce of welcoming personality. I also think they are cheap when it comes to sandwich toppings. My wife ordered and egg sandwich and there was 1 egg and 1.5 pieces of bacon (really???? 1.5). I ordered bagel with smoked salmon ($8!!!). Enough said. I prefer other places. Been here a bunch for breakfast and lunch and you can't go wrong with either. Ordered carry out today and it was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time (roasted veggie with swiss...and added a little balsalmic drizzle...DELISH). My fiance got the beyond burger with a fried egg and it was amazing. I also love the breakfast sammies (may I recommend a double trouble!) and their sweet treats are to die for. Had the chocolate chip cookie today, but I can also vouch for the doughnuts and slices of cake...if you are lucky enough to get your hands on one). Love the quality of food for the price. Really noticeable change in their management and in the care they put into this place! I went in the other day for the first time in a few months and everything has improved. The quality of the food, the look and feel of the restaurant, and the cleanliness of it as well. They've added screen menus which give it a cool feel, and have significantly improved in the ingredients they use for their bagels! read more

Roland Park Bagel has really stepped things up in the past year or so. The bagels themselves are better, as are the ingredients. The staff is great, especially Maria, and though the place gets congested pretty easily, the wait for an order is generally not that long, even when it's crowded. My only complaint is that they used to have some of the best iced tea in town, and now it's terrible. This is heartbreaking to me. But I still make it in here at least a couple of times a week. read more

I had high hopes for this place as it's owned by the people who own Miss Shirley's. I stopped there on my way to work for a bagel and a latte. I won't be going back. There was nothing wrong with the food. Everything tasted fine. But you would have thought they had to bake the danged bagel from scratch, it took so long. I wasn't the only one who felt that way. The woman in front of me in line actually put her cold beverage back in the cooler to keep it chilled, it was taking so long to get her bagel. I couldn't understand the reason for it. When I walked in, there were three people ahead of me, not an insurmountable number. However, the woman taking the orders was moving at tortoise speed, and she was also the person doing coffee drinks. There were three people back in the kitchen, one of whom I think sensed some dissatisfaction on the part of the people waiting. However, she didn't come out front to help things along. All told, it took me 20 minutes to get my order. If I hadn't paid in advance, I would have left empty-handed. As it was, I was late to work. read more

I came here on a Sunday morning and took two bagels to go. One was a bagel sandwich on everything bagel with ham, egg, and cheese- they give you that melted yellow American cheese, but the bagel was good, soft but crispy on the outside. My asiago bagel though was not that good, it didn't taste anything like asiago, I think they mixed it into the dough and normally I like it melted on top. I had it with mixed veggie cream cheese and toasted, but it was soggy and it didn't toast very well. I would get the bagel sandwich again on an everything bagel! read more

This place has its ups and downs based on my first visit, so I'm a bit on the fence as to how frequently I'll come back. I don't see myself swearing off the place completely, but if I keep having the same experience over and over, it will just be a once and a great while place. Most importantly, I thought the food was pretty good. Well seasoned with good flavor. I'm not a bagel expert, but I thought they were good as well. Things took a bad turn when it comes to the long wait for the food, as well as customer service. The place was packed on the Saturday morning I visited (which it most likely always is based on the location). The people behind the counter seemed understaffed and overwhelmed. That time of day, you're basically just churning out bagel sandwiches, coffee, and smoothies....they should be able to get people in and out the door faster than what they were. As a result of being understaffed, the staff just weren't very pleasant to deal with. A bagel sandwich and coffee are easy enough to make at home. If I can expect to have an overly long wait and not-so-friendly service when I come back here, then it's not something I see myself doing. read more

I love Bagels. Like LOVE THEM. This is the one food I know I will eat at least once a week. Especially a bagel, lox, and cream cheese. Roland Park Bagel Company does it right. The bagels are the perfect consistency - the right amount of crunch and chew, the cream cheese is just the right amount, pushing the boundaries of the bagel itself, but not so much as to become an overflowing mess. The lox is a generous helping without being overkill. I personally only get tomato and onion on top (not a capers gal), but the thin sliced onions give you the maximum flavor needed to compliment the rest. I work near 5-6 other bagel places, including two national chains and one local chain, and I will go out of my way for an RPBC when I'm on the bagel-hunt. I was lucky enough to attend an event with the breakfast tray catered by RPBC and it was amazing. So now I will use them for future events at work or with family! The location is great, staff is helpful, and the neighborhood is one of the most charming in Baltimore. Take advantage of their quick service to take the time to enjoy your meal! read more

The bagels are not very good - dense and hard and sort of bland. I like to order a bagel in the morning untoasted and you just can't do that here. The scallion cream cheese is so-so. Today I got a sausage egg and cheese and it was so overtoasted it hurt to chew. The woman who works the register is always rude. I think she is immune to smiles. She is more suited to DMV or post office work. Overall I only go here when I don't have time to go to THB. read more
