There was hardly any cheese either so they were basically bean/water burritos. I never had bad bean and cheese from Roberto's before so I thought no big deal I'll just ask for a refund. They would only refund 50 percent of the bill due to one being partially eaten. Not a good business decision, they don't care about the customer obviously. Sadly won't be back. read more

So two reasons I'm writing a review for this place #2 reason: the breakfast burritos are DELICIOUS!! Crispy bacon, melty cheese and delicious eggs! Yummmm #1 their kindness and helpfulness. So here goes: we are at the drive thru window.. pay, get our food and we are off... wait, nope we aren't. My Jeep decides to be cute and it is stuck in the park position... The shifter is loose and is not engage the transmission at all!! My husband goes to push it and nothing. It's STUCK in park so the Jeep is not budging. Good thing there is no one behind us... wait.. now there is... and another. Oh no!! The guys inside the restaurant notice the distress and offer to help push... but even then, nothing. Luckily the awesome person behind us knew his car stuff and went under my vehicle hooked up the gear box linkage that came loose (or something) and we were set to go! So the willingness of the employees to help and the kindness of a stranger made this place a 5 stars for me. And yes.. we paid for the guys food, he wouldn't take anything else. Yeah, this is top notch drive-thru Mexican. Best Breakfast Burrito I ever had was their Machaca, egg and cheese! Fresh delicious tortillas. Also ordered a Carnitas and Shrimp Burrito and they didn't skimp on the shrimp, brother! One thing, though, if they ask whether you want them to put pico de gallo on it, be aware that their pico is VERY VERY hot. You might want to ask for it on the side. Omg the gem! Don't let the outside fool you. The best late night munchies. This place is dangerously close to me. This place is 24/7 and delivers all hours of the day. I tend to frequent them weekends late night or early mornings late night crew is super nice and helpful. Way better then any other 24/7 fast foods. And puts filebertos to shame. I recommend the carne asada and shrimp burrito, chicken tacos, or off menu item a hard shell crispy fish taco with everything on it. For breakfast I recommend the steak, egg and cheese burrito I add a fried egg to mine for extra protein. I also get both red and green sauce in the side. The red is spicy and the green is more mild. There is an art to finding the right drive-thru Mexican food restaurant in Phoenix, which has 4 predicators: 1) It must look like it is closed 2) It must be painted with primary colors 3) It must be be named ______erto's (except Filib) 4) They must not tell you your total until you pull up to the window In the late 90s in Phoenix the Filibertos chain dominated every 3 square mile in central and suburban areas. Over time Filibertos sold out many locations and in came a new wave of 24-hour Mexican restaurant. The benefits of these restaurants was to have an early breakfast burrito at 3am or 11pm, and to offer an alternative to chains like Jack in the Box who were leading the 24/7 drive-thru game. Fast forward to 2018 and Roberto's, which in my opinion is there best drive through Mexican restaurant in central Phoenix. (used to be Filiberto's on 19th and Dunlap before the Light Rail construction). They have a walk up and drive thru window, and have improved their driveway which was a hurdle for most driver's at 2am. Although greasy burritos are typically why people go to Rolberto's, there is surprisingly less grease than most places I have visited. In addition to the grease fact, it is strategically placed on 7th St. making it easy for those who have ventured to late night bars to hit this place up before bed. What I appreciate most is that they will always ask for green or red hot sauce and supply you with the appropriate amount and never any more. It seriously kills me when I am given a handful of red sauce when I either need green or only two dispensers. read more

WARNING: This place is a huge SCAM! DO NOT EAT HERE. I came here last night and placing an order was nearly impossible. I asked if the tortillas being used for my order were flour. After trying to explain to the employee like 8 times I did not want to order another tortilla, I had learned he was charging me for an extra tortilla whether I wanted it or not. Of course he did not give me an extra tortilla with my order-just charged me for it. He then told me the price of my order which made sense, but charged me an extra couple bucks w/o telling me. Also I think there may have been like a rock or something similar to one in my what was supposed to be a soft taco. I stopped eating the food immediately. Lesson learned, read reviews before going to a new place. I use the word "place" and not "restaurant", because I don't think this place deserves to be called a restaurant. As taco shops go, this one is bad. Fish tacos we're just bad. My roommate got steak tacos and they were bad too. The tacos had only lettuce plus meat and were overpriced for what it was. If we dined in I would have asked for a refund and ate somewhere else, but this was drive thru. Waste of $20. Save your money. There's much better tacos to be had around here. read more

I've only had their taquitos and boy are they good! The fry is perfect and and the meat is plentiful.

I've probably been to Rolberto's twenty times at this point - it's super close to home, and I love my random Mexican take-out, to the point I get cravings periodically. My usual go-to is a burrito - either breakfast or California. They have that right balance of fillings without any crazy amount of grease. Nothing super special about the food compared to all the similar hole-in-the-wall places except that it's fast, tasty, and comes with red/green salsa as you want it. So what are the downsides? Well, the first is the pricing - it's a little bit more expensive than I'm typically accustomed to, but I'll let that slide based on how conveniently located it is. On top of the base prices though, they charge an extra $0.50 for using a credit card. Not a huge deal - but they don't mention it to you. That is, you order your burrito, it's $8.50 (or whatever), and they tell you that price then charge your card $9.00. They don't even give a receipt 2/3 of the time so you won't notice. The other problem is if you eat there (they have some tables on the side of the building) that it is often a bit smelly - there's a drainage pipe or something from their kitchen that comes out right in the outdoor dining area and doesn't have anywhere to go. Been eating here for years. Always delicious, flavorful, consistent, fast, quality Mexican food at a great price point! I usually get the Super Bean Burrito, but tonight I got a combination plate of cheese enchiladas, a plain burrito with lemonade for my grandson. It was all so good. The tortillas always have that authentic hint of smoky flavor. The lemonade was super delicious with a hint of lime in it. The service is always fast, friendly, and pleasant. Rolberto's, I can't tell you how much I love you and how, when all others have abandoned me, you are always there for me right after the bars close but before I pass out. And even when I want to take you to bed with me, you've always been agreeable. Sometimes the only way I know for sure that I had a great night is when I wake up on the couch with a pounding headache and one of your half-eaten Carne Asada burrittos on my chest. I'm a South Texan by upbringing so I'm picky about my Tex Mex. I'm so picky Cal Mex seems like a cheap imitation to me. But this place passes muster, and then some. Their Chili Relleno burrito is one of the best I've ever had, and their potato and egg burrito was also delicious. Their tortillas still aren't as good as Taco Cabana's - but then again, no one's are, so I don't knock them for this. This place is the real deal. Anyone telling you otherwise is probably a tourist. Craving an egg and potato breakfast burrito. Had less than $4 cash in the car, didn't know if Rolberto's sold these so I stepped up to the counter and asked. Yes, and for less than $2.50. No reason to go home for more $$. Waiting outside in the heat seems to take longer than sitting in the car, but it arrived soon enough. I sat outside on the picnic tables watching some teen boys playing some dragon card game and trading collector cards. Tried to figure out what the creatures were - aliens? monsters? dragons? but never could. Burrito was fabulous. Been waiting four years for this. Maybe my taste buds have faded? Thanks goes for being open 24 hours - especially on late nights when I need some greasy carby goodness to soak up the alcohol and prevent the hangover from hell. Everyone - you can categorize this with all the other Erto's (Filiberto's, Raliberto's, etc.) I must admit I have never had Rolberto's sober or during the day, so I can't vouch for food quality. He has been working there forever and is always super friendly! No matter if it's 3 am and I need Carne asada fried or its noon and I need a bean and cheese burrito for lunch. Can be hit or miss. The tacos are usually pretty good and fresh, as are the breakfast burritos. Salsa seems to be more of a hot sauce... I'd say pick up a tub from Trader Joe's and pile that on instead. (Haha.) Chimichangas are a big NO, especially for ye of sensitive colons. I always get a big ol' awkwardly sized styrofoam jug of horchata that I can barely hold in one hand. Overall, don't expect a gourmet culinary experience.
