Hello my fellow Yelpers. My god, it feels like a lifetime since I last posted a review. Since the pandemic hit, my culinary experiences have been limited to our kitchen lol. Well let me get to the review. As many of you already know, ole Jack Frost decided to make a trip to Texas and since we are not equipped to handle the likes of Jack Frost, many of us had to suffer the wrath of the visit as well as deal with aftermath. Luckily for my wife and I, our issue was outside of the house instead of inside of the house like so many others. Basically, the thingy (yes I said thingy lol) connnected to our sprinkler system that prevents water from mixing with the water coming into the house.....I think.....it is called a back flow something..... anyway, it cracked in two. So after researching and realizing that repairing something like that myself is far beyond my level of comfort and expertise, I decided to search around for an expert. Well, since I have used Yelp in the past for other non food related things, I decided to jump on and see what I could come across. So after requesting a quote, Rolen Management was the first to respond and the only company that responded that did not ask for the soul of your first born just to come out and see what is wrong and how much it will cost. So I responded to them which was a very outstanding choice. Mrs. Rolen took care of setting up the appointment, and let me tell you folks, she is one of the most pleasant people I have ever dealt with. Of course, I was on edge because I thought since a lot of people probably had the same thing happen to their sprinkler system, I just knew she was going to say "we can come by in a month" lol but nope, she asked me when it was convenient for me... that was impressive. So we set the date. Mr. Rolen arrived to my house, a little after 10:00 but that made no difference with me, heck I was just glad he came out and besides, if you are such a-hole that you don't give some clock latitude to people trying to help you........then that is why you are an a-hole! Anyway, he came out, gave me two very good options, one was a quick, inexpensive fix, and the other was the fully monty, which still was very reasonably priced. See folks, that is a good business man, he didn't just give me the more expensive option only, he gave me an option to save me a few bucks......which I gladly excepted but, after attempting the first option, we learned that not only that piece cracked in two, but the other end was busted as well, which he did tell me before hand, could be an issue. So he had to come back out a couple of days later with the whole unit and replace it. Oh I forgot to mention, he also replaced one of my sprinklers, that I attempted to replace the head sometime ago, that I completely screwed up because it watered most of the sidewalk than the grass lol! But Mr. Rolen told me it was not my fault, it was not the sprinkler head, it was the whole piece, so at least I do not feel completely responsible for the watering of my sidewalk lol. My fellow Yelpers, if you are looking for good, honest people who are customer oriented and is more interested in helping you than padding the bottom line, this is the company you want for any landscaping, sprinkler repair, sod installation or French drain needs. Yes, they are a for profit company and they deserve to make a living like anyone else but, their prices are extremely reasonable and most importantly, they want to make sure that your needs and/or wants are taken care of. Hiring Donald Rolen is the best landscaping decision I have ever made! I read several Yelp Reviews prior to selecting Rolen Management Services for our near total landscape redesign. We had purchased our home in late spring 2021 after the Texas Deep Freeze and waited to see what actually survived. The beds were very neglected as we renovated the interior of the house. The before and after photos do not do justice to the significant improvement in our property. Donald and Sherm were incredibly present in person and by phone. The project was almost two weeks long as they cleared out all the beds, built stone barriers, brought in new soil, weed protector, plants and mulch. The project covered two very large beds that spanned the front of the house, a small circle bed and four smaller beds in the side yard and backyard. Donald took great care to vary the stone for the border to memic the stone on our house. Additionally, they brought in subcontractors to grind down roots from previously removed dead palm trees and repaired / replaced numerous sprinkler heads to ensure the new plants would be fully watered which is critical given this June 2022 heat of 100+ degrees. We were out of town when the planting started. Other than a large crape myrtle that we knew would be placed on the left side of the house, I provided Donald with a list of blooming and green shrubs that I both like and were certified to be Zone 9 hearty. I had no idea what to expect when we returned. The variety of plants, color and texture, is perfect. I can only imagine how wonderful it will look next year when the plants have had a season to grow and mature. The color variations added interest and broke up the sameness of the prior landscaping. I would describe Donald and Sherm as honest, thoughtful, knowledgeable, reliable, very communicative and reasonably priced given the size of our project. We will contract with them to continue to provide mulch for our beds, sprinkler needs and "sprucing up" on a regular basis. I cannot say enough good things about this pair! You won't be disappointed by selecting them. They went above and beyond on the entire project and far exceeded my expectations with the final result. read more

Then we checked my sprinkler system for the 1st time since the recent freeze and unfortunately had two cracked pipes. I had backflow preventer problems at two properties in Houston after the recent winter storm. I found Rolen Managment Services online via Yelp and reached out to them. They got back to me right away, despite the massive volume of requests after the storm, and were able to come out the very next day! Communication from Ms. Shermilyn was excellent throughout and she kept me posted on schedules, location, arrival times, etc. After arriving right on schedule, Mr. Donald was able to complete both of the repairs in only a few hours time. He had all the required parts on hand and took care of a broken isolation valve at one property and a badly damaged PVC pipe at the other. His work was excellent and he double-checked his connections and leak-checked everything before he was satisfied. His rates were very reasonable - the total cost of the job was less than some companies were charging just to come out to the house to have a look! Overall I am extremely pleased with my experience. Within one day of contacting the Rolens both of my problems were completely resolved. On top of all that, the Rolens are very nice people and were a pleasure to work with throughout the process.
