A week ago, Rolf's destroyed my hair (which is still breaking off) and my scalp is still burning! I thought I was getting highlights but walked out with white hair on the top and normal looking highlighted hair from my ears down. Sadly, the stylist is a "master stylist". I am very disappointed and wasted about $250. However, my haircut was really good but definitely not worth the hair damage and scalp burn. Nor was it a $250 haircut. I'm usually nervous going to a salon for the first time. But since I'm new here in AZ I didn't really have a choice. So like most people do now a days, I checked out Yelp and read reviews. Rolf's is the closest to me and reviews were pretty good so I thought I'd try it. I was able to get an appt. with Eleanor. The place was really nice and clean. Front desk attendant greeted me, checked me in and offered me refreshments. Then Eleanor came to get me, she was really friendly and professional. When she shampoo'ed my hair she didn't rush like most do. Most important thing, she listened to how I want my hair cut. I am really happy how my hair turned out. My husband loves it too =) Price is average. With the place looking so nice and staff looking so professional I thought I'd be paying more...hehe. So I was happy with my haircut, my new stylist and the price! Going back to Eleanor this weekend to take my daughter for a haircut. read more

Terrible customer service! Made an appointment for myself and my daughter weeks in advance. Got an immediate email confirmation. Birthday gift that we both took time off in the middle of the week for, so that we could have a girls day out undisturbed. Confirmed our appointment a week out. Got an email confirmation from them 2 days prior. Called the salon with addl questions the day before every contact they confirmed we were all set. No issues! Show up for the appointment and their response is: Oops they double booked the colorist for my daughter. WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL! I can do my full appointment and my daughter can just sit for an hour and only get a haircut then wait 2 more hours for me to finish. Then my daughter can just take off work again tomorrow and get her color done. They dont understand or seem to care that we are upset! Next suggestion is. Why dont you let us do a quicker color treatment that you dont want and didn't make the appointment for, but will take us less time to do? Needless to say we canceled everything and left. A minimum of $700 that I would have spent in the salon that day and all we got was a shrug. No follow up from the management or apology. read more

Long story short: One of the more experienced and highest paid stylist was to color my black hair brown. Ended up with orange highlights, ORANGE! Wanted layers on my long thick hair, ended up with a botched mess! She knew she messed up and and didn't have time to blow dry so she sent me on my way after I had paid almost $200 for this mess!! I went home and fixed up my hair to see how bad it looked, it was aweful and I cried for hours. I called back and asked to get it fixed. They had me come in to fix the color to get it to brown. After she was done, it was pitch black again!!! They gave me a refund but ended up spending the same amount getting the horrible cut and color fixed. My hair was fried and I was depressed for quite awhile until it started growing back. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!!! read more

I have been going to Wells for the past six months and he is awesome! He studies my hair, plays with it for a while, and creates the most beautiful style for my hair texture and length. You can tell he really enjoys his work, and although I am usually an impatient customer, I don't mind sitting in his chair for an hour or more every time. He doesn't try to upsell the very expensive products that Rolf's pushes, and with $20 tip (he deserves every cent) I come in under $80 or so, including blow dry and style. I will go to him as long as we are both able, very well worth it! read more

My three young sons all were in dire need of a solid new shape/style and I was recently disappointed after taking them to Sports Clips. I feel my boys have great hair and wanted a style that worked WITH their hair, not just a trend. I was SUPER impressed with the attention to detail and treatment of my boys by WALES!!!! I can not get over how confident he made them feel and have enjoyed the complements that we have received from friends about their new style. He did not overlook them because of their young age (8 and 10). He spent 45 minutes on each child and they are excited to go back FOREVER to Mr. Wales. I am a lifetime client now. I left thinking - This is why people fly home and go to great lengths to go to "their" guy for a haircut. Wales is now my family's GUY for cuts. Thanks, friend!! I have had good stylist & colorists (with the exception of 1 not so great) but they charge so much for services and have just increased their prices again! When I called to make an appt I was not told about the changes for the new year (very annoying) so literally am stuck paying...i told the front desk i was not told and she pretty much said oh well). Also one of the biggest complaints is that after spending almost $200 I don't even get a blowdry!!! (I have paid for it before when I was unaware they did a this but refused this on my last visit as I find it to be a horrible business practice!) Who does this?! Have never encountered this except at maybe at Supercuts. I find this to be bad customer service and despite some good stylists being good, will be looking elsewhere unfortunately. I don't mind spending the $ and have spent a ridiculous amount in the past here but at this point will use other salons. Sorry Rolfs! read more

The time they take to color your hair is upwards of 4 hours. In that time you experience a very uptight and seemingly unhappy staff. I do not mind paying hundreds of dollars on a cut color and highlight, but I do when the atmosphere is cold, pretentious and filled with tension. I will never go to Rolf's again. (I've been there 3 times to give them the benefit of the doubt.) Shame on me. read more

It's great when everything is going well, but, when there is a mistake, don't expect them to do right by you. I had an appointment and my hair colorist had been double booked. My appointment was on the calendar but somehow the other person's appointment hadn't saved in the system. The other person had a card proving her appointment, and she had booked earlier. So the colorist took her and asked me to either see someone new or reschedule. I don't mind that she took the other person. But I sincerely feel that I should have been compensated in some way for my inconvenience. I will never come back here and encourage you to not take the risk either. They won't treat you right when push comes to shove. read more

Nice salon but OVER PRICED to say the least. I had my hair done here and I hated it. The blonde highlight I got turned out having a gray/green tint to them. Of course when I mentioned it the girls all pretend not to see it and said it was probably the store lighting. I ended up leaving and going to buy a box dye to cover the horrible highlights I just paid way to much for. I will NEVER go back here again. Save your MONEY and BEWARE! I used to see Cameron at the Rolfs Arrowhead salon some years ago. Six months ago she left there. I called there to schedule a appointment and was told she was no longer there. Off course they won't say where she went, so I asked for her last name thinking I could look her up on Facebook,. They refused to give me her last name. I understand that they want to keep their clientele but I think it is poor customer service. I have always been impressed with Rolfs salon and the expertise of the hair stylists, but their customer service/company policy could be improved. Will not be returning. read more

I got my hair colored by Maria she did an amazing job! I was not sure what color of blonde I wanted and she helped me pick out the color that was just right for me! I have gotten so many complements on my since since I saw her! I will be going back! I am so happy with the way my hair turned out. read more

I had been going there since Jan. I really liked the way Elizabeth was doing my color and cuts. My last visit there will be my last. Not because my stylist but because of all the changes. I had an 11am appointment. I wasn't taken back to the chair until 1125 and that was by another stylist. I waited in the chair until 1145 when my stylist came over talked briefly about what I wanted done and left. She was working on another client at my scheduled appointment time. Another stylist mixed my color so my regular stylist could apply it. That was all my stylist did the entire day. The other stylist rinsed and washed my hair. After my hair had been washed I was in the chair and the stylist asked if Elizabeth " power dries" my hair. I stated I didn't know what that meant but she always dries my hair. It was explained to me that with all the changes the stylists are now only specializing in color and cuts but because they had had a cancelation they could still dry my hair. When it was all said and done my regular stylist came over and stated " the color looks great" So I had 20 minutes of time with the person who I had a scheduled appointment with and I was charged $44.00 for a ten minute blow dry that had previously been included in the service. I have since emailed Martin { the name I was given when I called the salon with my concerns} and have never received a response from him. Needless to say my hair and makeup appointment for my wedding I have cancelled. read more

I went into Rolf's wanting to schedule an appointment with my usual stylist Tracey, however she has moved to the Scottsdale location. I was recommended Kennedy and I was a little hesitant because I am very picky about my long hair and the cut that Tracey gave me helped to keep my layers and length. Kennedy did an amazing job and is very sweet. She has long hair as well so she really listened to my concerns about keeping length but adding body. She ended up re-cutting my hair TWICE because I was hesitant to take off too many inches at a time. (This is a very very good thing in my book!!) She did not get impatient or anything while I was deciding and was very pleasant. It helped that she could relate to my fears about cutting too much off at once and stated that she would rather cut two inches off at a time rather than six inches off at once. Let me start by saying Sarrina is absolutely AMAZING!!! She is so talented and brilliant. She is also very sweet and easy to talk to. I've been to the most expensive salons in the valley for a year before I was able to go to her and finally get the color I wanted!! About a month ago I went to Rolfs at Arrowhead and I had a very complex situation with my color, I had been trying to grow it out and went to multiple different stylists at expensive salons attempt to match my natural hair color and create the bayalage/ombre style I wanted. That is all just background, but basically it was a very complex situation and I was feeling really hopeless that anyone would be able to accomplish what I wanted. Sarrina matched it PERFECTLY!! I was so shocked and thrilled. I recommend her to anyone with a complex color situation. Everyone at Rolfs was incredible and kind. I was really thrilled and I'll never go anywhere else. read more
